Today I've planned on changing my wifi card from my old Thinkpad E520. i think there is a Centrino N inside and just purchased a Intel Dual Band AC-7260(720HMW)
Can i have a modified bios so i can bypas the restriction? I'm using the 1.26 version 8HET44WW .. Had no idea they'd have restrictions on such things.
Thanks
Sorry if there is another link about this, but cant find it.. Tongue

Hi everyone! I'm new in the forum, so i hope to have wrote in the right section. Anyways, i got this old laptop (aspire 7741g) that i kinda want to push to the limits. What kind of cpus you guys thinks it will fit the best? I thought of installing an i7 620M (i've seen laptops that have been upgraded succesfully, even whit an i7 720QM). I also thought about installing an i7 940XM (the laptop has also a dedicated gpu, so it should gives a video output). Could such a cpu be able to be recognized by the mobo? I'm sorry if my english is kinda bad.
P.S: the laptop current has an i3 330M

Bios splash screen request for old system

I have an older system that I would like to make a request for the change of the splash screen. The motherboard is an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. Vintage 2005 I believe. This is in an Alienware system and I believe the previous owner flashed a standard ASUS bios on to the motherboard as the Alienware logo is gone and the bios is next to the last one available. I am only looking to replace the splash screen with a specific black and white logo that I have. I can make it what ever format you need for the work. Just let me know what kind of contribution you would require via PM. Currently I really don't have the time to learn how to do this even though I understand that it is not that difficult. I believe that it is an award bios. Thanks!

MSI 990XA GD55 BIOS mode for PCI-e M.2 Nvme SSD support (applicable to others)

$

Hi,
If you experience, an old bios not supporting  Nvme ssd in the PCI-e data way then this can be usefull..

My hardware: msi 990xa gd55 motherboard, samsung evo 970 plus 500 GB M.2-nvme and Msi nvme-pci card adapter.

The way is simple, if your motherboard brand has a nvme support in the newer version as the same chipset of your old motherboard, then the nvme drivers in the bios dxe can be pull out and inserted to your old motherboards bios ...

requirements
1-Copy of your old motherboard bios
2-Nvme supporting new bios copy
3-An old flash usb disk
4-Lastest ver of UEFI tool program
5-AFUDE238 for flashing your moded bios back (can be changed acording to your brand)
6-Rufus for to prepare a bootable usb

The work:

1-Enter into bios and copy your existing ROM: as the MSI bios has a bios flash tool and have the option of bios backup, just insert a FAT32 formatted usb with just one primary patition and boot into bios, choose utilities option and get a copy of your orginal bios.

2-Exit bios and enter your OS, download UEFI tool prog

3-For MSI, 990xa dg55 board have the same chipset with 990fxa but while fxa has the nvme support xa do not.  so the goal is to extract nvme support from 990fxa and just implement to 990xa

4-Open the new bios file of 990fxa and old one of yours side to side in two seperate UEFI tool prog and compare them by opening the file tree. There are DXE driver type entries for the system drives in the subtype colum. The newer one has Nvme, NVMEINT13 and NvmeSmm drivers in this dxe section but 990xa-old one do not...

5-Choose the drivers one by one Nvme, NVMEINT13 and NvmeSmm, and right click, choose extract as is option and save the files as .ffs format

6-In your old bios file, where is the last dxe entry, there must be pad file.

.... DO NOT TRY TO INSERT FILE TO ANOTHER PLACE.....

choose the last DXE entry, rightclik, and choose insert after. Insert three of the extracted files one by one as to be the same order with orginal bios. Action colon will hold ''insert''. After then just save as a new file and exit UEFI toolkit.

The total file sizes must be exact the same before and after insertion of the drives. If not it means samething go wrong and just make it again....

----------------
IMPORTANT : If your motherboard do not have same chipset nvme support or u can not find bios file, there are avaible Nvme support drivers in the form of bios insertable *.ffs files. But the drives you find may not be compatable with your system and you have to try more than one to find the suitable one....

------------------

7-With rufus prepare a bootable FAT32  free dos based usb, then copy new modded bios file and afude238.exe

8-insert the usb and boot, .....DO NOT USE THE INTEGRATED FLASH UPDATE UTILITY IN THE BIOS... When booted  usb must get the control and Dos enviroment will come...

9-flash the bios from the command prompt of dos and reboot

10-Boot into bios and make sata option AHCI or raid (it may change acording to pci card type or Nvme ssd i do not know but i have a raid system sata raid works for me) as M.2 Nvme  ssd will be an UEFI system with GPT if u plan to install Win 10, raid rom must not be legacy, menu differs along motherboards...

11-For win 7 you must load the needed nvme and sata ahci raid drivers during win install, but win 10 do not need.

thats all....

Clevo P650HS accidental brickage from wrong BIOS

Hi everyone,

I made a huge mistake today when flashing the BIOS on my Clevo P650HS laptop. I recently installed an NVME SSD and seemingly had compatibility issues with it. After trying everything I could think of I decided to flash to a newer BIOS, but screwed things up massively when accidentally flashing another Clevo models BIOS instead of the P650HS. I stared in horror as it flashed and I realised it was the wrong one...

Now the laptop doesn't respond at all when I start it, understandably. I have tried disconnecting the battery and CMOS battery.

I am by no means knowledgeable on the functioning of BIOS, but have flashed many times before, but had a monumental brain [censored].

Is it possible for me to recover my laptop? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance

I wanted to modify my MSI Z170A g45 to run a r0 stepping 9900k.
My Cpu is properly modded. The needed Pins are covered/Shorted
So far the System somewhat posts but i cant enter bios.
I get stuck on New CPU or Memory detected. Then i cant press F1 because of ether no io or a freeze idk right now. I tried different keyboards with usb and ps2 plug.

My Bios right now and unmodified version are attached.

Can someone look over this and help me out? Or is there a bios region from a Z370/Z390 compatible donor board?

X58-PRO Chinese dont work with 130W CPU - Help-ME

Hello friends,

I'm having problems with Xeon W3565 CPU on a Chinese generic motherboard, currently I use Xeon E5620 on the said motherboard named by the seller as X58-PRO from the Kllisre brand but there are also other identical X58-PRO that are supposedly manufactured by other brands like Atermiter , JIAHUAYU, Machinist and others ... (X58-PRO Huananzhi is slightly different)

The fact is that the seller that I bought the motherboard from 1 year ago told me that it is compatible with W35XX, W36XX and X5680 / X5690, all CPUs with 130W-TDP, knowing this, 1 year after the purchase I decided to order a W3565 for increasing the clock from 2.4ghz to 3.2ghz, when receiving for my surprise it didn't work, i contacted with the seller he said that this card does not support 130W-TDP CPUs, only 95W or less.
I tried to find the motherboard vendor but I couldn't, so I looked for ads for this motherboard online and some vendors claim to be compatible and even selling kits Xeon X5680 with this same motherboard, but others say no, just 95W or less, the bridge north is 5500 and according to Intel it is compatible so I imagine that to increase the useful life of the motherboard they chose to limit the compatibility with these CPUs by removing the BIOS codes, which does not make much sense since the motherboard has 7 phases of VRM and would be able to power the CPU.

I have no experience in BiosMod but I am willing to learn, would it be possible to include these codes as is done in motherboards lga775 to support Xeons lga771?

Could someone teach me and guide me on where to get the codes and how to add in the BIOS? (if it’s less work and someone can do it for me too it would be good)

In addition to this main issue, there are also other limitations in the BIOS that should be dealt with in a separate topic, but to avoid reworking friends I will put here:
The motherboard does not enable the turbo boost, being always in stock.
The motherboard has no overclocking options.

If there are any hidden options about this, I would appreciate having them unlock,
Thankyou and I apologize about my English.

Hi all.
I've got a supermicro X8da3 motherboard with twin Xeon 5680 processors.
I'm after someone who can modify the bios off the website I will post here:https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/QPI/5500/X8DA3.cfm
I need overclocking to be enabled on the bios and if possible 64bit os support so can be installed on windows 10 home 64bit. As I tried to install the bios but said wasn't supported on 64bit os so if someone can enable overclocking can they also tell me how to install using CMD on a 64bit os after reading the instructions included with the bios on the weblink I will be 100% giving you praise.
Thanks in advance
