Hello,
I have this ancient laptop and the performance of the WiFi card is dreadful, so I'd like to update to something newer...but Lenovo block it from BIOS if I use any other PCIe WiFi card. Is there a way to get rid of this whitelist?.

[Help] Mobo AM4 1.8v Bios Connect JSPI1 with RPI for Reprogramming

Hello, guys.

I am facing a really problematic issue atm, I have a motherboard “B350M-MORTAR”. It has been laying around under my bed for around a year because of a failed bios upgrade. Now I replaced it for my current broken motherboard, which is currently innoperative.
Now I intent to repair the previous motherboard with the corrupted bios, I’ve tested it and it posts but since the bios is corrupted, it only shows a underscore blinking, keyboard and mouse wont work, nor usb drives.

I’ve tried everything trying to recover it, booting a boot drive with bios, using the renamed bios in a 4GB usb in fat32, etc, changing various components, no luck at all.

So I went searching for a while, and found out that the bios can be re-programmed, now here is where all my issues start:
I have a raspberry pi 4 working fine, but I can’t acquire any tool that will make this easier, because the current quarantine situation in almost every country in the world.
So my only solution is to use the raspberry pi.

I’ve tried to use various tutorials trying to accomplish this. Not sure if links are allowed to post but:

https://www.rototron.info/recover-bricke...pberry-pi/
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/msi...ridge-apu/
https://imgur.com/a/n2ooe

Problem is that from all the tutorials I’ve read, none of them show the connections I should take in order to connect the Motherboard JSPI1 to the Raspberry PI, since in the tutorials people used other bios chips, or they are using other re-programming tools.
I am not intending to connect the raspberry pi directly to the chip, since I lack the skill desoldering and also lack the tools doing it, like the clip for direct connection, Now I can provide 1.8v power onto the chip (instead of 3.3v) like the guy with a similar board (second link) just by connecting the 24 pins in the Mobo, no cpu, no ram, etc.

But I have doubts with all the other pins, would anyone help me connect the JSPI1 from my motherboard to the raspberry pi?

My Bios chip is: MX25U12873F at 1.8v (attached capture/image)

Now I would usually buy another cheap motherboard, but there is no stores, in my country they are currently banned, and in Quarantine.  And I must work.

Regarding the flashing method I think I won’t have any issues with this.

Thank you in advance.

Multiple BIOS On One USB

Hi everyone,

My company uses the same generic pc for all our customers.

But our customers request different versions of the BIOS to suit there needs.

Is there software that would boot from a USB stick with a simple menu to install the selected BIOS?

All our BIOS use EFI with statup.nsh

Thanks for your time!!!

[Help] Add New UEFI Boot Entry // Asrock Rack C2750D4i w/EFI Spec 2.31

Hi there!  This is my first post, so I hope I am following the rules correctly and have this post in the right location and formatted correctly.

I have an ASRock Rack C2750D4i and I have just upgraded to ESXi 6.7.

The installer did not create a UEFI boot entry so it doesn't boot automatically, however I can get it to boot manually by entering UEFI and launching fs0:\EFI\BOOT\BOOTx64.EFI.  So I know that the OS itself installed correctly.

The problem is I cannot manually add a boot entry using bcfg or efibootmgr.  The EFI shell is running 2.3 with this UEFI, which supposedly comes with bcfg, but when I type:

Code:
help bcfg

I get unknown command.  If I type:

Code:
help ef*

I only have eficompress and efidecompress.  I have paged up/down through help and nothing is popping out at me.

ESXi was installed with a USB flash drive which was formatted using an ISO transferred with Rufus 3.11.  When I booted the machine I was able to select UEFI: Sandisk and the installer ran and installed the OS  This signifies to me that the installer launched in UEFI mode, and the flash drive was properly formatted.  I mention this as there are some comments around the web about laying down the image incorrectly using Rufus. I tried transferring via DD on MacOS, but then I couldn't get it to boot UEFI.  I don't have any physical Linux hosts.

Additionally, I have seen lots of posts of others having this issue, but they all have tools to edit their boot entries with their EFI shells. I have seen this KBA from VMWare, and this is still a problem for them for versions 6.5 through 7.0 software:

Host Fails to Boot After You Install ESXi in UEFI Mode

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide!

eeprom Chip searching on Motherboard

Hello, I'm quite new here(and to chip programming). I have a Acer Aspire V3-771G that I found in my garage and thought I could get it going for multimedia purposes. It was bios locked. However I Do have the ch341a setup with the Pin to connect it to the chip on the motherboard. Only problem is, I couldn't get the ch341a to read either chip attached to the motherboard.  I took pictures of both chips, I just don't know which one I should be working on(if either). Any Suggestions?

Unlocking Acer Aspire VX5-591G Bios

Dear Bios Moders

currently I am facing a blank screen after installing intel graphic 630 for a month. I have been doing a lot of research on myself, but I got no luck. currently my laptop running on microsoft basic display adapter and GTX 1050Ti, due to non existent of intel driver, there is a significant drop in performance since the iGPU were the one maintaining the display and other stuff before sending it to dGPU. BTW while it's on blank screen I can still heard a sound if i plugged a usb and my win 10-hotspot still running. it's blank, but it's running. I can't connect to HDMI since there is no intel GPU driver on it, and I have tried to connected my laptop on a PC screen via HDMI while it's on blank screen, but still no luck.

I am willing to learn how to unlock my bios for the advanced setting, because there is a setting there that I would like to try (like changing the GPU which maintaining the display, etc).

Here is my Laptop hardware Info:
Acer Aspire VX5-591G
Intel I5-7300HQ, Nvidia GTX 1050Ti

Bios version : V 1.08
Attachment: Dxdiag.txt

Thank you for reading,

MSI ps63 8sc firmware unlock (fans control)

I’ve bought MSI ps63 8sc recently.

One of the key reasons why I’ve chosen it the fact the majority of reviewers stated that it is quiet under low load. As a particular, many people wrote that under low load (browsing/office) notebook is silent – something can be heard only if put an ear close to it.

However, I discovered that with my laptop this is not the case – without any load at all (=idle) fans are spinning around 2900-3100 RPM and produce loud sounds. It looks like the 2900-3000RPMs are set as minimum speeds at which fans start. I tried to play with custom profiles in MSI software and no matter how many percentage I put (10-20-30%) the fans always work at 2900-3000RPM minimum.

I’ve found several forum threads with owners of ps63. And several people in 2019 published screens of Creator Center where I can see the fan speeds around 1800-1900RPMs – so, this was possible.

But after that people are complaining that after they installed new firmware 16S1EMS1.105 fans became crazy and started to spin at around 3000RPM minimum (like in my case). Many people downgraded to 16S1EMS1.104 and again happy now.

But the problem is that ps63 has several ‘submodels’ – 8rd, 8sc etc. The firmwares 16S1EMS1.1xx is officially for MS-16S1 submodels. I have 16S2EMS1.102 preinstalled and this is for MS-16S2 submodels.

Obviously, my 16S2EMS1.102 is “new type” of firmware which doesn’t allow to fans to go below 2900-3000RPMs making notebook too loud.

Can somebody help me please with this issue? Is there a way to “unlock” firmware to directly modify parameters which are responsible for minimal RPMs of fans?

Hello, I wanted to know if anyone can go ahead and unlock the bios. Most importantly if there is an option for enabling the iGPU. It seems to be automatically disabled whenever a GPU is inserted into the PCIe slot if that isn't possible any other extras would be appreciated.

Flashing the Correct BIOS to ASUS X407UA

Hello guys!

My laptop is an ASUS X407UA. I updated the BIOS not checking carefully that the BIOS file that I downloaded from ASUS website was for an ASUS X407UAR.

I didn't notice that the wrong BIOS was flashed since the laptop booted fine after the update, but things started to get weird once I booted to Windows. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios were not working and I was receiving error messages from Windows 10. I checked "System Information" and confirmed that the laptop model changed to X407UAR. It boggles me that the ASUS installer allowed for the BIOS file to be flashed even if it was for another model.

So I tried searching for solutions on how can I re-flash the correct BIOS file into my laptop.

I tried using WinFlash 3.2.10, running it with /nodate and /force. Selected the correct BIOS file and Update button was enabled. The only problem was when I try to click Update, it works for at least 5 seconds and returns an error that the "BIOS File is not valid.". I tried re-downloading the BIOS file but still the same error.

Next, I tried using ASUS EZ Flash Utility 3.0 but every time I will select the correct BIOS file it tells me that the "Selected file is not a proper BIOS!". I've read somewhere that typing the word r i s k y would allow the error to be bypassed but it didn't work for me.

Then I tried using the holding CTRL + Home then Power On method that I've also read somewhere. Put the correct BIOS with different file names into a FAT32 formatted flash drive. I tried X407UAAS.304, X407UAAS.BIN, X407UAR-AS.304, X407UAR-AS.BIN, AMIBOOT.ROM but nothing worked. It seems like the laptop is not finding the correct file that it needs.

Is there any other method that I can try to re-flash the correct BIOS? I'm willing to try anything even if with a BIOS programmer if that's the only thing that will work.

I hope you guys can help me out. Thank you so much.
