Hello and Greetings from Finland.

I have acer aspire es1-331-c28f which turns on but no picture. Fan spins few second then nothing(tried with external screen also). I think that could be corrupted bios error. I tried to download exe from acer's support page and put that to FAT32 usb memory stick, put usb to usb 3.0 port, pressed fn+esc then powered on, but nothing. I tried the same extratcting the bios exe(7zip), but it seems that it can't extract all the files. Any help would be appreciated.

[Request] GA-H55M-UD2H Rev1.3 to support xeon x3430

Hi, i have a gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H rev 1.3 with bios F11 and the board supports some Lynnfield b1 xeon chips (X3480/X3450/L3426), so i bought a cheap X3430 (Lynnfield B1 2.4Ghz 8Mb) to replace my pentium G6950.

When i install the xeon and press power botton, fans spin for half a second and stop in an endless loop, the processor doesn't even get warm, by my experience with amd boards the board should boot and at worst case show a warning message "unknown processor", at this point i don't know if i have a bad CPU or this is the normal behavior for unknown CPUS at intel platforms, the bios is an 8Mb file Award V6.00PG according to Award slic mod v1.37

Unfortunately i don't have other mainboard to test the CPU, Can anyone update the microcode of the bios to add compatibillity with the X3430?
Don't worry if the board gets bricked as i have an external programmer and proper tools if something goes really wrong.

Thanks in advance.

[Request] Unlock CPU settings and other hidden settings for Lenovo j 3000 series BIOS

Hello,
I'm very new to this site and community so correct me if I mess up with anything.

I have refurbished an old Lenovo 3000 J series (7387A11) and would wish to have its BIOS unlocked.

The BIOS version is 2NKT26AUS and I used the universal bios backup tool to back it up as I could not find it online.
BIOS file can be found attached below.
The tool backed it up as a ROM file so i'm not sure if that is the correct format or if it has to be .bin.

As I said before I am new to this forum and site so if I did anything incorrectly please tell me!

Hi, i need to unlock my bios. Can i get some help?

Asus N550LF can't re-flash bios

Hi,

I have an Asus N550LF laptop and last week it suddenly started to go through a very long POST procedure when starting up , 25 minutes plus sometimes and the fan runs at full speed all the time too.

It's running the last available bios, version 215 and I'd like to try re-flashing that to see it it fixes the problem. Last year, I had the "fan running all the time" error and a re-flash fixed it. I know about the winflash /nodate method, but now it just doesn't flash. Similarly trying to flash from within the bios with Easy Flash fails too. Both Winflash and Easy Flash show a locked padlock symbol, does that mean the bios is write protected somehow?

When the POST is happening, the hard drive light and DVDRW light are both flashing at about one second intervals, I don't know if that's significant or not.

Here's what I've tried so far:

I have an SSD in place of the original hard drive, I have re-seated it's connector. I have removed and re-seated the RAM modules, WLAN board, DVDRW drive. Cleared CMOS by unplugging the little backup battery, remove laptop battery and held down power button for several seconds to dissipate power. Cleaned fan and heatsink. Replaced the SSD with the original hard drive. Edited the Build dates and revision numbers in the bios file with a hex editor, I guess that messes up a checksum as Winflash stops with an "Invalid Bios" error.

Why oh why won't Asus allow you to re-flash the same bios version!!

Anyway, I'd like to know if it's safe to try and re-flash the bios with the AMI tools for the Aptio bios? If so, do I flash all blocks? I love the laptop, best computer I've ever owned so I don't want to brick it.

Many thanks for any suggestions,

Ric

Hello to all,

I have a Ideapad Yoga 11 2696 model (2012).
Soldered RAM and Soldered SSD 64GB and Soldered CPU.

It came with Windows 8 RT,and was officially upgraded to Windows 8.1 RT.

I can't get into BIOS with no way , not even Lenovo could.
It's an ARM processor, i want to put Linux or Windows 10 (have genuine key).

But i can't get into BIOS, yes i tried everything from Shift + Restart,  FN+F2,F9-10-F11-F12 etc, also Volume+ central key to boot into BIOS, removed battery and CMOS nothing .

So i had just read with a programmer the BIOS .

So here it is, anyone can re-programm it or something like that ?

Lenovo doesn't have any update.

XFX nForce 790i Ultra SLI Xeon Support Request

Hi all,

please could anyone put Xeon (5400 series) microcodes inside the latest two BIOS versions (P09 and P10) of the XFX nForce 790i Ultra SLI motherboard (by replacing Engeneering Samples or/and Celerons/Pentiums)?
The reason is why, because it's possible to flash it over EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI models (because it's nVidia refernece with supposed better RAM support than the EVGA BIOS versions.
I already ran 2x 8 GB DDR3-1866 on it, but after video card change (from 560 Ti to 980 Ti) 16 GB won't boot up anymore (BIOS boot loop), only 8 GB working.

Thanks a lot in advance

Cheers

[Q] VG10S - High CPU usage with drive caddy

$

Hi!

I got a Toshiba laptop, P50-A-11J, pspmge, with VG10S motherboard.
http://www.toshiba.no/discontinued-produ...p50-a-11j/

Short story:
When attaching a drive caddy with an SSD or HDD, cpu usage even at idle gets very high. Temperature goes up, so fans run at full speed.
Are there any BIOS mods that can solve this? LatinMcG @ MyDigitalLife.info says "its likely to do with the DSDT acpi and the eject code for power management of dvd"

Long story:
I recently bought a WD Blue 1TB SSD together with a drive caddy from ebay. I've also done this with a 850 evo 250gb and a HDD. The hard drive gets recognized by W10, S.M.A.R.T return no errors. TRIM is enabled. It is formatted with NTFS, and have some movies on it. Plex streams just fine from it.

The problem is that, when I have the caddy connected, the CPU will constantly go high. The process named "System", detailed name "NT Kernel & System" uses about 20-30% of my CPU. I got a i7-4770MQ, so 20-30% is some processing power.
And that's with no programs open, just W10 idle. This also causes the fan to constantly spin at high speed. And the computer turns warm. But when I remove the caddy (after shut down off course), CPU usage is back to normal again.

I can't figure out what makes it do that. And I can't find anyone facing the same problem/ bug. Any suggestions?

Other details:
- In BIOS, in BOOT menu, the caddy with the SSD is recognized as ODD, optic disk drive. I think that's a bit odd, or maybe not?
- I've tried with two different caddys, problem persists
- I've tried with different disks and SSDs, problem persists
- The caddy runs fine in my HP6530b with Linux. No problemo.
