Hi,
is there a bios without the whitelist for my (old) laptop - dv6-6030ew? I wanted to swap the wifi card (Motorola/Ralink) for an intel 7260 but get the bios error. The laptop is on bios version F.1B

Tried searching but my model did not come up.

I'm using G533QS and the BIOS is very limited. Can someone help me to mod/unlock the BIOS so I can access all the settings. I would like to tweak some cpu settingsand  ram timings and possibly the ram voltage as well.

HP ProBook 11 G2 BIOS Boot issue

Hi guys,

I have a BIOS locked HP ProBook 11 G2 I’m trying to save from the rubbish dump.

I hooked up a clip to the bios and dumped the binary to back it up.

I googled the laptop and found the bios binary and flashed it, I then entered the bios and input the HP stuff like the feature byte, serial number etc and disabled the HP Manufacturing Program Mode etc.

I got it working fine, bios unlocked and everything and boots fine. BUT every time you turn it on there’s a massive delay before even the backlight turns on.

During this time the caps lock led does 5 slow flashes.

I cannot find any info on this. There’s plenty of threads online where people say they get 5 slow and 3 fast flashes and this indicated the following:

The embedded controller has timed out waiting for the BIOS to return from system board initialization (end of POST).

However I only get 5 long flashes, and no short flashes and then the system boots fine.

Would anyone have any idea as to what’s going on?

If I flash the original backup bin back onto the chip it boots instantly with no delays, but of course it’s bios locked.

Is the password stored in this chip and not encrypted? That could be another way around it.

ftwp is not working i got this error :

I want to replace the current 3g WWAN card (Ericsson H5321) with a Sierra MC7700 card lenovo made an update for compatibility but it doesn't work. If i insert the card in the running Laptop everything works problem free. the current bios is: GAETA8WW (2.68).
This is my first post on here correct me if i did anything wrong

I would also be able to change Hardware ID.
I don't know to dump even if i'd follow the guide on the wiki.

lenovo 720-15ikb 81c7 possibly corrupted bios

Hi,
I have a Lenovo ideapad 720-15ikb (81c7) that seems to possibly have a bricked bios, the device will power on to a black screen spin up the fans for a few seconds and then just sit there with the caps lock light on and the keyboard backlight on.

I’ve finally got round to getting a ch341a programmer, done the 3.3v mod on it and have managed to read my bios off the chip, the issue I’m now faced with is that the file I extract from the chip contains all the intel ME stuff and the bios update file lenovo supply appears to just contain the uefi firmware.

Is there anyway to recreate the bin file with a bios that isn’t corrupted or does anyone have a backup of the same laptop that I could clear out the ME info and embed my laptops details into? I did see a post from 2 years ago for the same laptop requesting a supervisor password removal but the mega link is now dead by the seems.

I have found one site that has a backup for the laptop but the site requested a “account upgrade purchase” in order for me to actually download the file, which I’m not overly keen on sending money to a site I haven’t heard of before.

Any knowledge or help on this would be much appreciated, the original bios corruption happened due to clearing the nvram a few too many times on my opencore hackintosh build for the laptop prior to the knowledge going round that clearing nvram on lenovo devices can end up corrupting the bios.

hi there, i am new to this forum so .. hopefully i am doing nothing wrong.
I have a MSI X470 Gaming Plus, running on Bios 7B79vAK, AGESA 1.2.0.7. Is there any posibility to extract PCIE 4.0 Patches (or .. sort of?) from previously released Beta-Bios from other manufacturers to insert this to the latest bios with the goal of enabling PCIE 4.0 on AMD 400 Series CHipset (not only for this model of motherboard in particular)? If it isn't permitted to release patched versions, a working tutorial would do it.

Last time i modded an UEFI was for an Asrock Z77 Pro3 (Intel 3770k Platform) to make it boot from NVME-SSD. And it worked very well. So.. i am not completely new to that stuff.
