[Request] Supermicro X8DTH-iF BIOS unlock for BCLK

Hello, I’m currently working on a super-budget PC based on a Supermicro X8DTH-iF motherboard that I want to mod the BIOS of. What I want to do with it is enable the Base Clock to be changed from the BIOS, as well as be able to change a couple of the voltages that would affect the stability of the clock (Vcore, Vtt, etc.). I’ve tried my hand at doing this modification myself over the past month, but I’m not that experienced with this kind of low-level technology. I’ll detail some of the problems I’ve faced and ideas I’ve had over that time in this post. (Also, cooling won’t be an issue)

Something that I learned of pretty quickly was that there was another board, the EVGA SR-2 (270-WS-W555) motherboard, that had a similar hardware layout as well as BCLK and voltage adjustment. It used the same Chipsets (which control BCLK in the first place), supported the same CPUs I was using, had the same number of RAM and PCIe slots, etc. What I thought of was essentially going into the modules of its BIOS, finding the code responsible for this overclocking functionality, and implanting it into my motherboard’s BIOS, perhaps in a ROM hole. The only problem is that I am not very well equipped to go searching through the whole 4 MB file, or even the ~500 KB Arch Bios, for what I want to find.

What also complicates this is that the MMTOOL program I use flags some of the modules of the BIOS that would need to be edited as “non-editable modules.” I’m sure that there is a simple-enough workaround for this (besides using a plain hex-editor), but modifying the MMTOOL program also seems beyond my skill set. That being said, I don’t think an experienced person would have much trouble doing that.

I’ll list some of the resources that I have found along the way as well, including the BIOS ROMs and a Drive folder with some tools, here:
Supermicro Manual: https://www.supermicro.com/manuals/mothe...L-1083.pdf
EVGA Manual: https://www.evga.com/support/manuals/fil...S-W555.pdf
Supermicro BIOS: attached in folder below or get from https://www.supermicro.com/products/moth...DTH-iF.cfm
EVGA BIOS: attached in folder below
MMTOOL v3.26: attached in folder below
AMIBCP v3.37: attached in folder below

I feel confident that this mod is possible given the hardware. Now I just need the expertise of whatever forum members would be willing to help me out with this eccentric project of mine. Thanks in advance, I look forward to any help I might get in the near future.

CyberPower laptop (Quanta NL5E base) blank screen after changing graphics source

Hi Guys,

I have a CyberPower Tracer 2/3 gaming laptop (Quanta NL5E base) with Insyde QP121 Rev 5.0.  I flashed an 'unlocked' BIOS which opened up lots of new options. My original need was to be able to use the Intel onboard UHD graphics on the I7 CPU - but it was not available anywhere in the driver or desktop application. The standard BIOS was very limited and there was no option to change from using the RTX2070 dedicated graphics all the time.

In the unlocked BIOS I found a graphics option with 4 settings. I changed this from 'SG' to 'iGFX'.

I saved and exited and now all I get is a black (blank) screen.
The keyboard lights up and there is hdd activity after I type in windows password (enter keystrokes like logging into Win10) but no picture. There is no HDMI output either and I have tried the FN key and monitor switch.

When I close the lid or press the power button the laptop goes into hibernation/sleep mode because the power light flashes and it turns back on when pressed. When I hold the power button the laptop turns off.

So it looks like the laptop is running but without any graphics output.

I have tried unplugging the battery but no difference.
I cannot see a motherboard/BIOS battery so I have left the battery unplugged since last night.

Has anyone had such an issue before and/or knows how to solve it easily?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Markiexxxx

Hello, so here's my concern.

I want to insert in place of my wifi chip an external graphics card in the mini pcie port.

My problem is that my bios disables the port 3 pcie when I branch egpu while when I hand over the original wifi chip it appears well.
I would love to know if one could look in my bios to see if there is something that makes it activities the port with egpu.

I managed to open my bios but I would like the help of a person who knows this kind of thing so as not to make conflit

Hello I find this on the forums asus regarding an asus of the G series range. This proves us that at least on this range there is a kind of whitelist.

I am too much of a noob here and its been a long horrible day of intensive research, I will be as short and clear as possible and hopefully someone could help in some way.
Totally my fault I for some reason shut down the laptop when I thought the installation was completed.
Now the laptop wont boot, not even to BIOS menu.
For what I have seen the first steps would be to create a bootable USB with the BIOS bin file. I used innoextract and then 7zip and got a bin file named CIUY7201. I formated a usb with the name CD_Crisis through Diskpart and pasted the later .bin file there naming it also CD_Crisis. After pluging it in the laptop I tried all the possible shortcuts that I found but no one worked.
I am completely lost as to what to do now.
The BIOS chip is the windbond 25Q64FVSIQ in case it helps.
I thought about buying one BIOS chips from ebay and soldering it but I don't know if that would work.
I have also read here about using a EEPROM reader and extracting the old version and fixing it but again this goes well beyond my knowledge.
Any help or advice will be more than appreciated.
I atached the bin file which I managed to extract and linked the lenovo BIOS drivers download page and the thread in Lenovo´s forum that I tried to follow to fix it.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Lapt...=1#4178802

I decided in my old laptop hp pavilion dv9860er to replace the network card WM3945ABG MOW2 manufacturer intel. ASSY №: 396331-002, Spares №:407576-002. Quanta 30CB system board. The Phoenix BIOS type. The BIOS version initially, preinstalled, was in my F. 18, now I do not remember, but everything worked. I went to the HP support site to download the latest version of the BIOS, but they refused to even download the archived part of it. Since the laptop was released in 2008. Then I downloaded and installed the F. 58 version on the Internet and it worked fine. Replacing the WM3945ABG MOW2 network card with any other one results in error # 104 "Delete the unreadable card and insert the native card". I need to remove the whitelist so that it is possible to replace it with a new one with 802.11 n, ac standards. Now I have the BIOS version F. 5A, sp48024_30ccf5a_nwl_bycamiloml, which I downloaded from https://www.bios-mods.com/BIOS/index.php?dir=Whitelists/&sort=date&order=asc from Directory Listing of / BIOS/Whitelists/ and it BIOS F. 5A works, but still does not read the card, gives an error 104. That is, there is no possibility of replacing it with another card. Need help modifying BIOS F. 5A (sp48024_30ccf5a_nwl_bycamiloml). Need Whitelist Removal.

Hello
I have an old laptop Quanta TWH. The LCD has died on the laptop. I installed windows and linux on it but it "wants" to output picture to the LVDS and not to HDMI firstly.
Is it possible to modify the bios to change bios output to the firstly to hdmi?
Does the bios have any hidden features?
