Hey,

First, i'd like to salute this community for being all for sharing and progress through collaboration. I'm believe that unlocking the BIOS I have have could help a lot of people, it's on the HP Pavillion 15 cx0056wm laptop, but it's very on other cx00xxx laptops, if not the same, it mentioned the model with [censored] in the BIOS. Hp for some reason decided to not provide an option to access advanced settings, it's not cool, it makes the laptop like a "black box".

Anyways, I started looking for modded BIOS updates, didn't find any for that laptop, but a lot of people are looking for it as mentioned, so I decided to research doing it on my own. I need to disable CFG-Lock to be able to run Mac, because it uses the MSR 0x0E CPU register which is protected by the BIOS by default, that's why I'm using version F.21 and not the latest one, the latest one doesn't seem to have it at all, not sure if that means that it's disabled by default, but I don't want to try and not be able to downgrade.

I found a really cool tool that's been leaked from Intel, they later decided to publish it themselves anyways, it's called Insyder BIOS Editor (InsydeH2O_03.04/H2OEZE) it allows seeing the BIOS menu and replacing different modules, but I don't have a tool to modify the exported file, so I had to find another way. I found out about a cool guide that's especially for Hp laptops, it consists getting the .bin, using PhoenixTool (to get the .rom files, but I used UEFITool to find the GUID since it has search) to export two EFI structures, DXE core and SetupUtility, then using a Hex editor to find the data offsets of the menu tabs and finally using IDA Pro to find the display tabs conditional checks to determine whether to view them or not based on the manufacturer's settings, patching them using a Hex Editor, and loading them into the original bin using the Insyder tool to be ready flashing. I believe that I can just enable the settings through Insyde tools, change the default settings, that is, but i'm interested in solving it for others too, if that works then I could do without patching it, but I rather have all the settings in the BIOS, so it's a win-win.

I'm at the point where I need to find the offsets in the structure using a Hex Editor, but I can't find non of the menu options written in the format mentioned in the guide, with space and 0x00 between bytes, nor through their regular names, I only found Advanced mentioned, but it could be something else, someone more experience might know.

I skipped that step just to try, loaded the .rom into IDA and looked for the byte sequence mentioned in the guide for menu header data and I found them , but I need the tabs offsets to know exactly where to look.

The question is, could the EFI structure data be encrypted on top of the regular compression? I checked the decompress option upon extracting. Why is Hp making it hard on the modding community  Angry

I've attatched the things needed in the process, in case someone wants to try.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could shed some light, i'm still only a beginner when it comes to BIOS modding, I only get the general idea

P.s: I got the bios bins from the official exe through making a recovery USB, although the USB recovery mode didn't work for me to flash, I used the update feature. The .fd files in BIOSUpdate.exe extracted didn't load in the Insyder Editor. To update later I'll try the USB hotkey method while having the .bin in the USB, seems to be a common option.

Hello,
Is it possible to modify bios to change discrete gpu voltage? mobile fermi chips don`t allow to change it through any utilities, i used phoenixtool to extract bios settings module: FE3542FE-C1D3-4EF8-657C-8048606FF670_819.ROM, opened it with Universal IFR Extractor, but didn`t find voltages there, also extracted videomodule 05F7AA70-A64A-432C-8CEE-4CDECB8671D7_1870.ROM and there wasn`t any settings at all, maybe i`m looking wrong places i have ch341a so flashing isn`t a problem.
Thanks in advance.
Here`s rar with full bios, extracted settings module and videomodule.

HP Pavilion G6-2151sf bad flash Main and EC

Good morning all,

I bought an HP Pavilion G6-2151sf

CPU: i3-2350m
GPU: AMD HD7670m

My problem is that the BIOS is corrupted, 2 flashes of the caps lock LED (BIOS corrupted at HP).
I wanted to save the original BIOS on the chip but it's empty ... I think it was tinkered.
I recovered the BIOS on the HP site but I read on the site Bios-Mods that it is not possible to directly flash a .BIN file on a new chip without making modifications via a hexadecimal editor, but my capacities don't are at this level...

I have a CH341a programmer and a new chip.

How to make for a bios specific to my configuration?

Sorry for my bad English...

Thank you all

Asus P5QL-EM (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller) Problem after flashing bios

Hello. I have a problem with the V3-P5G43 motherboard (OEM version of Asus P5QL-EM).

I flashed new BIOS from regular P5QL-EM to unlock some additional BIOS features.

I made it following this tutorial: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-H...e-AMI-Bios

Any other method or flasher didn't work.

After flashing the bios with AFUDOS there is a problem with onboard Ethernet card. The card does not work.

In the device manager next to "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" I have error:

"This device cannot start (Code 10)".

I tried different versions of the driver and flashed the previous bios, but interestingly, it's still the same.
Can it still be fixed?
I have a bios version 0802. Previously I had version 0316 (v3-p5g43) (OEM).

I attach both ROMs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dell Optiplex Overclockable BIOS

Hi everyone,

This is my first PC, which I built a few months ago:

Dell OPTIPLEX 790 Desktop

Motherboard: Dell 0J3C2F

CPU: i7-2600k

GPU: GT 1030

RAM: 8GB DDR3

SSD: 500gb

I want to overclock my processor but of course Dell's locked bios has no options to overclock. My BIOS version is A22 03/07/18

I was wondering if anyone could help me overclock my i7 2600k, whether that means a modded BIOS or whatever. I have attached my current bios.

Thanks in advance,
Jacob.

HP 6730b, no microcode for intel P9700 processor

Hello !

Please if someone could add this Intel processor P9700 CPUID 1067A (SLGQS) into a HP 6730b bios (for me looks just like an early release of HP UEFI graphical bios interface):

-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : HP EliteBook 6730b
-Bios Revision : Ver F_20 (08 Dec 2011)
-Bios Type : Insyde
-Bios SLIC : 2.1 (included by manufacturer)
-Bios Link : https://we.tl/t-pdlCMpzreS

I have the ,,lnsider_Bl0S_TooIs-master,, package files, but none of the utilities included won't open the bin file (saying it's not an InsydeH2O bios file).
Only with PhoenixTools I can open it, it says it's a EFI/Insyde BIOS, I get a DUMP folder but... from there without a tutorial I'm in complete fog.

Thank you in advance, I hope it can be done somehow.

I buyed the processor from eBay without checking first that the board will take it. Notebook starts, but no display, and after 4-5seconds will shutdown by itself.

Hi, I have a Lenovo flex 2-15, with an i5-4210u, currently, the throttling temperature is set to 70, I heard that it can be changed via bios modding.
How can I do that?
the CPU can go up to 95, but now it won't go more than 70-72.
And also, if it's possible to overclock the CPU in bios, how can I unlock the overclocking feature?
Thanks
