Lenovo M5400 CPU upgrade to I7 4700MQ

Hello all,

I landed on this forum as I'm in need of some magic regarding the switch from the i5 4200U to i7 4700MQ on my Lenovo M5400.

I found some machines on the interweb that are running the 4700MQ but did not receive any info regarding the BIOS.

I already attempted to swap directly but it's not posting, just some erratic fan movement. Having in mind that this proc has a higer TDP I'm guessing the motherboard needs to be instructed to allow the higher power consumption.

Old Dell Inspiron 1150 - Unlock Hidden Options

Hello,

I'm trying to mod the bios on an old Dell Inspiron 1150.  I'm trying to Hackintosh it with an old version of Mac OS X (either Tiger, Leopard, or Snow Leopard), but the main problem is the only video modes are basically 8-bit depth with no higher resolution than 800x600.  According to the OSx86 wiki, the solution is to go into the BIOS settings and increase the video buffer size from 1 MB to 8 MB.  The problem is there is no such option in the BIOS to change that, and I'm on the latest BIOS from Dell (version A07).

From what I've read, Dell BIOSes are a tough nut to crack for BIOS modding.  I would assume that there must have been some progress as it's now 2020.  I was able to extract the ROM file with the /writeromfile option, but the resulting file can't be opened in Phoenix BIOS Editor (No BCPs found).  However, I managed to open the BIOS with the Phoenix Tool version 2.57.  I'm attaching the DUMP folder, together with the .exe and .rom file, winzipped.  I was following another PDF tutorial (which I'm also attaching in the zip file), but I can't find a .wph file to open, just a bunch of ROMs, and I don't know which one (if any) to open.  I would think I would have to modify something manually and then repackage the BIOS with the Phoenix tutorial, but I don't know how to do that.  Any help would be appreciated.

HP envy laptop BIOS rollback, InsydeH2O F.96 Rev.A

Help needed -
    I have an HP envy 17t-s000 CTO laptop, which has been running windows 7 professional for the last 2.5 years perfectly.
This past week I updated the BIOS from InsydeH2O F.80 to the most recent version (F.96 Rev.A).  I did not realize when installing the newer update, that it failed to work with windows 7 professional.   

     I have now had to upload windows 10 to my laptop, which is not useable in the work that I do.  I have been attempting for the last 8 days to restore the original BIOS (F.80), and then run windows 7 again, but to no avail.

     I have receive 2 error messages whenever attempting to use windows 7 professional . . . 

1)  "The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant . . . *** STOP: OXOOOOOOA5 . . ."

2)   Boot device not found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk (3F0).


     I have been able to locate a few suggested repairs online this past week, but almost all of them say that I should go to the "Advanced options" in the InsydeH2O BIOS utility.  However, this is hidden, and I have found no one who lists how to unlock these "Advanced" features.

     I am not very familiar with the technical aspects of exactly what has happened, with updating to the newer version (F.96 Rev.A) from HP,
but I would greatly appreciate help in restoring this laptop to its correct working order with windows 7 professional.

I was trying to copy my bios using the Universal BIOS Back-Up Toolkit but I got an error saying I couldn't copy it. Is there a copy protection somewhere? There must be something to disable/enable in order to get this done. Oh, and if there is someone here willing to help me, I want to install a new AX wi-fi card. Would it be possible? Does is work? Hi guys,

I have a bricked Lenovo Yoga of which the Boot setting in the Bios was switched from legacy to UEFI.

I've bought a SP1 reader and extracted the Bios. However, I lack the knowledge of editing the bios file so that I can make the computer work again.

Is there perhaps someone here who can show me how to do this, or even willing to fix it for me?

Of course I'm willing to donate/pay for services rendered.

how did usb booted?
first try flash with win98 dos on rufus
second one dos mode with rufus
they both shows smiliar menu

Hello,

I recently bought a CyberPower gaming laptop which I think is a Tracer 2 or 3 or Vector II-Z model with I7-8750H, RTX2070 and Intel ID3EC4 (Intel Mobile HM370 ? ) chipset. It is basically a Quanta NL5E barebones chassis.

It looks to have a locked BIOS as there are limited available options and I would like to unlock it to at least be able to activate on-board GPU.
I originally posted on Win-Raid forum who told me the Insyde BIOS experts are here.
I have done a dump of the BIOS.

Moptherboard: Quanta NL5E (U3E1)
Chipset: Intel ID3EC4 (Intel Mobile HM370 ? )
The current BIOS is: INSYDE QP121 Rev 5.0 - Build Time: 01/14/2019 - ME FW Version 12.0.6.1120

Hi,

I am looking for a unlocked advance menu to disable cfg lock and set DVMT-preallocated. I have tried two method to modify theses setting in uefi variable, but the operation is failed with error 0x00000008, it seems the bios has protection. Hi I have a Acer Aspire v3-551g with A10-4600m. But It heats a lot I cleaned and changed the thermal paste but it still heats. When cpu is about 70 ish degrees the fan only turns %30 so I need unlocked fan speed. Can someone help me about it ? 

Im using v1.07 bios.

But the thing is i can not do a backup file like the result.rar with .bin file inside, when i open backup tool it tell me "Can not identify the bios", and not working with other tools, even with FPT the cmd is closing idk how to use it. I posted screenshots.
I can even get acces to the modules with the phoenix tool by extracting the bios installer .exe file and edit all modules but i dont know which bytes to edit.
