Purchased a 2540m CPU for my Asus k54c laptop to replace the b815 CPU, but I'm getting no post, just a black screen.

If someone knew what the fastest compatible CPU is that works with this bios, that would be great.

Hello everyone and happy new year Smile

I come to you because I have to unlock the bios of my computer in order to keep using it on the long term.

My power button is broken and I need another way to turn on my machine, but the bios seems to be really restrictive and doesn’t let me manage the power settings, like turning on the computer from the laptop’s keyboard/mouse, from LAN or from USB. Atm, I just don't turn off my computer but it's not a viable solution as I'm not protected against rare freezes.

I have already seen a reparator months ago but he told me the reparation would cost around 200€ because I had to buy the whole keyboard and replace it, just for the power buton. Imho, the price isn't worth it just for one button replacement and I'm looking for this alternative solution from a bios mod

Is it possible to edit my bios in order to be able to activate such settings so I can turn it on/turn if off at will ?

Hello everyone,
I've just upgrade my old laptop acer aspire 4750g from i3 2310M to i5 2520M, it seem like the turbo boost doesn't work now, there is no option to enable or disable Turbo boost in my BIOS, so I need someone unlock the BIOS hidden setting to enable Turbo Boost, I will send a small sum.
My specs now:
i5 2520M
8GB DDR3 RAM
GPU gt520m

I need for make a Hackintosh, I need to put in AHCI mode the SATA and I don't have the option in the BIOS, I saw people changing in Advanced options in BIOS but I don't have this option.

Dell Inspiron 5680 BIOS Unlock iGPU with dGPU installed.

Dell, in their infinite wisdom, disables the Intel iGPU if you have a dGPU installed. This limits the ability to do things like KVM GPU passthrough. I have never done BIOs modification, so I was hoping someone would be able to help. I have dumped the BIOs update from the Dell site (I am currently on) and I will attach here. I really appreciate the help!

[Request] Zotac ER51070 BIOS, CPU Support for Ryzon 7 2600

Hello,

I have a Zotac ZBOX Magnus ER1070 with a Ryzen 5 1400. I want to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 2700 with the same TDP of 65W. Tryed to exchange the CPU, but the Computer dosent Boot up anymore with the new Ryzen 7. The latest BIOS vom Zotac is installed "Version 2k190425" and the Zotac support tells me, they dont support other CPUs than the delivered CPU.

Is there a way to mod the BIOS for the the Ryzon 7? The Chipset (A320) supports the Ryzon 7.

SM3322 add Phenom II X6 CPU support

Hey. I want to use a Phenom II X6 on a Itautec SM-3322 board (Pegatron AP480C-S, according to CPU-Z). It currently has an Athlon X3 on it.
With the board's bios, it won't even post when I insert the Phenom on it.
I tried to flash the ASUS M3A78-CM BIOS on this board, since they are a bit similar.
The board detects the processor, but fails to finish booting. It displays "Initializing USB controllers" and hangs.

Is it possible to get the updated AGESA code from the ASUS board and replace it on my board BIOS?
I added both bios to the thread.

Hello and a happy new year.

I need help unlocking the BIOS of my laptop, to adjust some CPU and memory values.
I am in a AMD Ryzen community and i will speak for a few HP members.
I am able to edit some values with AMIBCP but i am unsure, because all settings are on "show = yes".
I think HP is running an overlay on that AMI Aptio V BIOS.
The next thing is, that this BIOS is RSA secured and i am scared of flashing the BIOS, i use a new laptop.

I already spend a lot of hours with UEFITool and HxD, to search for some key-combos in my BIOS dump.
Can i extract that elsewhere, maybe there is a key-catching string or hex value which corresponds to a key combo like "Keyboard Scan Code"?
Can i use an EFI shell to enable the "Advanced" menu?
If anything else is not possible, could anyone unlock my BIOS?

BIOS version = F.42
Can be found here (HP official) and in here (my dump).

[REQUEST] Unlock Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th Gen Advanced Menu

After doing some research, I discovered that it is possible to unlock the Advanced menu on other Lenovo BIOS by setting an efivar. I downloaded the BIOS ISO for the X1 Carbon 6th Gen from Lenovo's Website and ran it through UEFITool and IFR Extractor and found that a hidden Advanced menu exists (results attached). However, I do not know how I can access this hidden menu. I could directly edit the settings since the offsets are all in the IFR dump, but some of the settings like Voltage Offset go from 0 to 1000 and I do not know what units those settings are in (I would guess mV, but I don't want to break anything). How would I search for a hidden key combo or an efivar to unlock this menu?

[REQUEST] Asus GL703GS Unlocking hidden menus

Hi! 

I wish to unlock certain hidden (sub)menus for the Asus ROG GL703GS bios. 

Mainly these (checked with AMIBCP): 
-Under Advanced menu -> CPU Configuration
                                    -> Power & Performance
-OverClocking Performance Menu

I tried setting these menus and sub-menus to USER, and Supervisor through AMIBCP, but neither worked. 
I don't know what I'm doing wrong...

I dumped the bios region using FPTWIN (see attached file: GL703GS_310_BIOSREG_DUMP.bin) and I know how to reflash (unlocking BIOS lock with setup_var)
I also attached the unsuccessful modded bios I made, if you want to see which menus/submenus/options I'm trying to unlock. (see file MOD.bin)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Blush

hi

i confirm the ability to upgrade toshiba satellite a660-17m cpu from intel core i5 450m socket G1 (TDP 35) to i7 840qm (TDP 45) without modded bios.

i'm writing this thread from it.


i'm not sure if i can upgrade it ti i7 940xm since it's 55 TDP.

but according to cpu-upgrade website the chipset hm55  support cpu with TDP from 35 to 55

before upgrading :
1- be sure there is a dedicate graphic card  such as nvidia ,ati or amd.
2- the ram type is either 1066 or 1333.

i had attached a screenshot of CPUID HWMonitor & ThrottleStop with ts branch ,TRL and TPL
