What bios chips are you using?

I just picked up a GQ-4X for some laptop bios dumps + mods just for fun and I'm wondering what you guys are using for your chips (manufacturer/size). I'm going to place an order for some blank chips but need some help on what I should get as a first order. I'm wanting to play/dump anything that was released in 2004+. Laptops mostly but I'm interested in playing with desktop boards as well.

For laptop chips, I have bookmarked some SST25VF chips but I'm seeing a lot of variation of flash size (080B,016B, etc) and actual chip size (~5.15-5.4mm, etc) on the SOIC-8. I also need to pick up a few adapters to go with this programmer depending on what chips I get.

Obviously its up to the manufacturer to decide what chips they use on their boards, but are there certain chip specs (physical size, flash size) that are used more often than others that I should stock up on more? What are your thoughts about the different manufacturer versions of the same chip specs? Any favorites and why? Thanks!

I'm desperate. I've tried everything. wifi card doesn't work whatsoever. a bios message appears saying it's not supported Tried several wifi cards and all did the same.

It's RSA signed and I take full responsibility for all risks.

Acer Aspire V5-571P BIOS Unlocked hidden options

Hi, i want to change my dedicated vram, but.. u know it's limited.

Can anyone unlock the Bios?
Acer uploaded two different bios versions.

First: "BIOS - UEFI for Windows 8 (Not for Upgrades)" (v2.17)
I don't think this is the real Bios. There is a 13MB cap File in it.
Anyway, for completion:

This seems to be the real Bios, it contains a rom file. Edit: No, it's just an old version.

The title in the Bios is "Phoenix SecureCore Tiano".

Phoenix Bios Editor does not work. The PhoenixTool can extract a lot of things.. but i really don't know what to do then. Sad

Edit: Managed to figure out a module that could be the chosen one... thanks to Module-Helper (http://www.bios-mods.com/software-releas...e-helper/)

It's this module: OilSetupMainDxe from the v2.17 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/2i5uandngbq15i..._1951.ROM)

Edit 2: There is also a String like "OilHiddenPageConfig" in this file. Lets see... Maybe someone could help me there.

Edit 3: Let me crosslink this thread (Acer Aspire V5-531) as there should be a similar bios.

Lenovo's website doesn't have any BIOS uploaded, maybe because this is a new model. So I used Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit 2.0 to get the ROM image of the existing BIOS.

I would kindly appreicate it if someone can unlock the advanced settings in the BIOS that give me ability to extra features such as TurboBoost, overclocking, memory configuration, etc...

Also, I want to be able to revert back to default stock BIOS, but I don't know how because its a ROM file, and I don't know how to flash this.

Hello everyone and I'm sorry for possible double-posting but I really wanted to be sure that my message is seen.

I have a Lenovo G510 and I can't install a new wifi card on it because of the bios wifi white list. Here are my bios .rom backup and result.rar files:

I am modding the living bejesus out of my HP MINI (110-1125NR) and the only thing I need to clean up now is this WIFI problem.

[request] Aopen DE-945CD - need AHCI default

I've re-flashed this BIOS to my MB but it will not save settings to CMOS. Basically, all I need is for it to stay in AHCI mode but still be able to go back to IDE if needed. I've checked/removed the battery to no avail, sometimes it will save for a couple reboots but often won't save settings at all.

I've made edits in Modbin6 only to the AHCI setting and tried flashing with the EzWinFlash bundled with the latest official BIOS and Phoenix Winphlash 1.7.16 (and earlier variations) but have come up with error codes. OS is WinXP.

Any help or pointers would be great. Are there any other Phoenix flashers out there aside from Wflash which I've read horror stories about?
