MOXA 682 BIOS Serial Number Correction/Change

Good morning,

I've got a MOXA DA-682 computer running Linux.  When I use dmidecode the serial number in Type 1 comes up blank.  The serial number in Type 2 is correct according to the label on the bottom of the unit. 

I assume that the serial numbers presented in the dmidecode come from the BIOS. Using this assumption I'd like to try and correct the serial number some how.

In reading the forum (and the sticky post there) I've downloaded a number of programs and tried to download others.  I've noticed that alot of information is old and I've scoured the net looking for copies of the files mentioned.I know you ask for link to the bios from the manufacturer (I can't seem to find it as the unit is EOL) and offer a program to download a copy of the BIOS (the link to the file share gives me an error so I can't even search for a free range copy of the file).

I'm going to try and run phlash16-1.7.0.21 and see what I get.

I've also acquired some blank BIOS chips and would like to create copies of the bios in case I mess them up.  Is there a device to allow me to write a copied bios to the chip?

I realize that there is much information lacking in this post and I'll update it as I find answers and have more questions.

[HELP] Problem on the virtualisation Acer e5-523g

Hello,
I am requesting your help. I have an Acer e5-523g, and  I have applied the method with h2ouve mentioned in this forum to activate the amd-v feature, and it worked. But everytime on two, when the system was shutting down, whether intentionally or low battery, the virtualization was going back to deactivate. And I always repeated the same process. Until one day: when I enter in the cmd, everytime I tap “h2ouve -gv vars.txt” or “h2ouve -sv vars_mod.txt” it shows sth like:
 
Now parsing Variable Information...
LoadDeviceDriver fail,
GetLastError=0x2 Failed to get bios data!
Fail to get Variable Information
 
My problem is that I don’t really know what LoadDriverDevice means, and how to make it work

phoneix bios fails to load

I have tried all versions of phlash and receive the same message in dos failed to load file. Bios version from here is ro174J3. this is also the version on this Sony VGN. Tried to use Winphlash and receive the 160 error messsage. Any help would be appreciated .

Hi,
I'm newbbie, thanks in advance.
I bought ASUS UX331FN with pre-installed win10.
My intention was to run linux under this equipment but the csm/legacy option is unavailable.
The uefi bios is Aptio setup utility 2019 with secure boot and key management (American megatrends ver.303 , GOP 9.0.1085, EC ver FOWLOE03.007)
Is there any possibility to mod the bios in order to add CSM/legacy compatibility?How i proceed?

Hi, I am new here. I want to unlock and access the advanced menu for my HP DV6 6080ee laptop, current BIOS is: 
Insyde H20 Rev 3.5
VERSION:  F.1B 

Can you help me with this, please??
I downloaded it from HP website and I can't access advance options for disabling switchable graphics for example and other stuff.

Hello everyone, i wanna increase the VRAM memory, but the option is hidden in the setup menu, i obtained the .rom file from Universal bios backup toolkit.

By the way, i tried to open the .rom file with H2O EZE, but i cant "update default", the application freezes.

Hello there!
My ASUS ROG G751JY died in the middle of bios update to version .213, during bios erase stage. Ever since I'm trying to dump the contents and reprogram that [censored] chip. I'm using a CH341a programmer + SIIC8 Clip. I'm wondering if the chip is dead and needs to be replaced / resoldered with another 64 megabit module?
I have attached a photo of CH341 Programmer 1.34. Chip cannot be detected - every time I click detect - there are different values at the Manufacturer ID / Memory Type / Memory Capacity etc. I have manually selected the bios chip itself from the supported chips within the software - same results. The hex output appears to be the same when I dumped a bios under linux using flashrom 1.1 and ch341prog tools.

Any help is welcome. Thanks Undecided

Bios Update without Battery doesn't work

Hello Guys, 

I have a old Laptop from Medion with Aptio 4 Bios from AMI without a connected battery.
So no matter what I try to Update the Bios I always get the following error:


 - AC adapter is not connected or There is no installed battery or Battery remaining charge level of the battery is lower than 30%.
d - Error: BIOS Report Error.


Even if I try to update the Bios with the /JBC parameter (Don't Check AC adapter and battery) it wont work.

I tried it normaly by executing the .exe-file, updating with dos and also with a uefi shell but everything without success...

I have an HP Pavilion 590-P0044. It has a ryzen 5 2400g. I recently bough a set of ram sticks called Corsair Vengeance lpx 3000mhz. I need to enable the xmp profile in order to get 3000mhz, but there is no way to do it through the bios. Ive been able to set the speed and timings via Ryzen Master, but theres is no way to change the dram voltage. From what I understand, I need to unlock the bios to acces the OC options. Is this possible? Is there any other way to set up the ram properly?

Hey all! I am new to laptop upgrading, but I am in need for it as I don't have the cash to buy a new laptop, and mine is getting old.
I have ab HP DV6 6080ee. It has this hardware:

  • Intel HM65 Express Chipset
  • Intel i7 2630QM
  • Switchable Graphics: Intel HD 3000 & Radeon HD 6670M
  • 6gig RAM
  • 128 gig SSD
  • 720 gig HDD


Also, currently:
  • Running Windows 7 x64
  • BIOS: Insyde H20 Rev 3.5 - Version F.1B

I want to upgrade everything possible, so the CPU, RAM, and will add eGPU. 
My questions are, would my laptop run an i7 3840QM processor? It has the same sucket and some websites listed it as HM65 compatible, but I am still not sure. It is 45w processor and goes in G2 socket. My board has G2 and accepts 45w CPUs. It is Ivy Bridge though (22 nm) while my current CPU is Sandy Bridge (32 nm). 
If this CPU doesn't work in my case, what is the best CPU I can upgrade my laptop to?
Also, would my board run more than 8gig of RAM? Am I able to put 2x8gigs for example?

Hello,

At the moment, this machine only supports an OEM-only version of "Windows 8.1 with Bing," and the only ISO I found for this obscure piece of dreck didn't work.

Could someone please do the needful for something better?
