Questions about ThinkPad X230 Tablet BIOS mods

This is my first post here, hope I didn't post in the wrong section

Hello everyone, I decided to flash a modded BIOS on my ThinkPad X230 Tablet, mainly to remove the WLAN whitelist, but also for other stuff.
I'm currently waiting for the SOIC8 clip I ordered to arrive, but in the meantime, I have a few questions:

  1. This forum has a section dedicated to whitelist removals, where should I post if I wanted to do that along with other stuff?
  2. I'll be using a Raspberry Pi 3 B. Just to be safe, I decided to test all the pins I'll be connecting to the chip, and I found CS# to be outputting 3.12V constantly. Is it supposed to do that?
  3. Can voltage control and/or clock control be unlocked?
  4. I want to perform these mods in order of importance: WLAN whitelist removal, unlock of the Advanced menu, voltage/clock control, eGPU fix, WWAN whitelist removal. All are of these compatible with one another?
  5. What other cool stuff could be achieved by modding the Lenovo BIOS (no plans on installing coreboot)?
  6. Can I keep the security chip enabled with a custom BIOS? I'm asking because I have BitLocker enabled, which AFAIK stores the keys using the security chip. What about Secure boot (Windows won't retrieve the BitLocker unlock key if I disable that)
  7. If Lenovo releases a BIOS update, would it be possible to "unlock" some way to flash and patch via software? I'm asking because I don't have a Raspberry Pi myself, and are instead borrowing one.

Yeah it's a dinosaur, I saw a hack on here to upgrade the processor. But I wondered if someone could hack anymore into it. More ram or maybe give the onboard graphics more ram to share? Oh don't know if it's related but my bios sees 4 gigs of RAM but the OS only sees 3gig.(yes it is a 64 bit OS) id like to give that lost gig of ram to the graphics if I could.

[request] Jumper Ezbook X4 BIOS dump&unlock

Hi all,
I'm sorry to have just 1 message here and already need for help but I'm stucked after a repair to my Jumper ezbook x4.
The laptop is fully working, except for the battery charge that doesn't show the correct %(stucked at 63%) after I replaced the stock 4800mah battery with a custom one that I made with 8400mah. Voltage is the same 7.6V, but it looks like windows reccon it has a 4800mah unit, therefore it cannot fully charge.
That's why I'm asking for the bios unlock, because there may be a SW side workaround to the problem.
Last but not the least, there are no records online of a dumped BIOS so I guess I will have to dump it myselfe..but how?
It runs an intel n4100 and you can find the screenshot of the main bios page as attchment.

Thanks you in advance and sorry for the long explanation of the problem.

ps: I'd be more than willing to tip whoever is gonna give an hand.

Came across a Compaq presario SR2163wm today, which might be better (by a hair) than my demension e310.. wondered if there are any bios hacks out there. Also wondered if I'm truly binded to the 2 gigs of RAM it supports or can it handle more.

- Original BIOS: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc...uj46u6.exe (3.25 12/'12)
Pretty sure it's a Pheonix no RSA.

I don't have the PCI ID for the original card because it died, but its either 8086:4235 or 8086:4236 https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Intel_WiFi_Lin...full_size)
I'd like wwan and any other whitelists that may exist removed too if possible

Some people have have already hacked this bios, but their links are down. If someone has them and wants to reup or just start again it would be more than appreciated.
Thanks!

TDP unlock for Haier Y11c

I have exactly the same request as this thread below:

Original Thread

My model is Y11c which is the next model of the Haier core M series, with minor differences. I would like to disable the Power  Limit Throttling and unlock TDP, so that the CPU doesn't automatically downclock when the temperature is 60+ degrees (I have cooling solution to keep the temps under control, so don"t worry).

Any help is appreciated.

Acer Aspire M1100-B1300A [Shutdown during BIOS Flash]

$

Hey guys, I'm Menace and this is an odd introduction, but let me just say that I'm an impatient fool that rushed into things thinking I'd wing it and jumped the gun under the guise of a bunch of assumptions to justify shutting it down during the flash.

The attachment below is what I was using, and the flash was interrupted because I flipped the switch on the PSU; now, before you call me out on my stupidity, let me just tell you that it appeared to not be having any success at writing to the BIOS because each block it supposedly tried to write to failed, so I assumed the data would have been preserved as is, but when I booted the rig back up, it would be one, then another beep that was like two rapid beeps with a strangler of a beep, and the moments later it'd beep like it was a computer developed epilepsy (Some kind of loop?).

It appears to display different behavior with a USB stick with binary files on it, but keep in mind, I haven't tested it that would still be the case with a USB stick with nothing on it; my theory is that it's seeking a binary, rom, or another file that would be suitable for writing to the BIOS.

Nothing displays on the screen, and there doesn't even seem to be an attempt for it to display video.

I need to get this working, and I'm well aware that I'd need a floppy drive (can't get one atm, or a floppy disk for that matter), and I already have prepped the files and got my good ol' trusty Rufus that I use for other things to set up FreeDOS before I copy the files from the second attachment (The third attachment is from Acer's FTP server for this desktop model.)

I'm hoping that there's a method to recover the BIOS from some type of onboard backup (BIOS back chip?), or through some recovery method via USB or using an optical drive (not floppy, please not floppy.)

My other option is to purchase a new chip that's programmed already (BIOS Chip), but I'm broke af and my health is questionable in the least and I was going to get this running as a rig to play some low end games on with a GTX 285, and for my grandmother to use to pass some time and just have a hobby in general.

The other option is find someone local that'll let me use a rig to hot flash the BIOS, which is doubtful and unlikely to happen, so that's already ruled out.

The last option on my mind unless I remember something else (I'll edit it in for [censored] and giggles) is buy a programmer and reprogram it myself, but that'd be more expensive than the chip.

There aren't any local computer repair places that are local and within reasonable range for me to get to as I don't even have transportation because my life is in shambles, so that ain't an option either.

I'm trying to do some basic easy af tech repair work and phone repair + rooting services to make some money, but I've had no luck in making a profit, so I can't even come up with the money to do anything, and I can't work because of my mental health will cause me to hallucinate under an environment where I'm stuck being around people and it freaks me out so bad that my anxiety disorder manifests in that manner (it's a real thing, unfortunately, and that combined with Major Depression and PTSD is [censored], because I'll hear people talking about Ship that they have no way of know and it'll seem as real as me typing this out.)

Anyways, yes, I'm an idiot, and I need your guys help to get this working, because I'm pretty sure it can be repaired; I apologize for the TMI about me, but I'm an open-book in general.

Sincerely/Apologetically, MenaceSx7 Heart Heart Heart

Lenovo G50-45

I'm looking for some help.  I have the AMD version of the Lenovo G50-45 laptop.  It has an Insyde BIOS.  Like many others, I need to get past the whitelist and understand this particular BIOS must be physically flashed...

I have all the hardware and have successfully read and flashed the chip several times.  The problem is my modified BIOS file will not work and I have to revert to the original dump.

I've tried two different ways.  First, I tried stopping the whitelist following these directions.

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide...al.187340/

That didn't work.  The laptop won't start at all...

Then I tried to just replace the hardware IDs of my old WiFi card with the new one using this guide...

http://blog.sbelyea.net/articles/whiteli...wlan-cards

That didn't work either and again the laptop won't turn on...

Both times, when I flash the original backup back to the chip, it works perfectly and boots up... I'm guessing there is some checksum that realizes this is not an official BIOS rom?

I even took a look at this thread, but didn't get to far as I couldn't find the keyword TCPABIOS...

https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/...on-lenovo/

Soooooooooo.....

Can anyone help me with either pointing out what I'm doing wrong or helping my mod the BIOS correctly?
I have attached my bios read file along with the latest Lenovo BIOS version 2.13.

Sony VPCZ1 had unlocked the Advanced Menu & hacked the EFI Menu

My Sony VPCZ1200 has an Insyde Bios V3.5, I had unlocked the advanced menu with the method Here.
My BIOS version is R3031C3. The unlocked ROM named NEW.ROM.
But it still have some menu to be hidden, like EFI Boot menu.

I used Uefitool.exe to load the NEW.ROM and extract the SetupUtility module and saved as a FFS file. Then use
Universal IFR extractor.exe to decompile it to a TXT file. Open the TXT file you will find some hidden menus linke EFI Boot
were forward by the sentence SUPPRESS IF TRUE, the corresponding OP_Code were 0A 03 00 27 02,
it test something true and hidden the menu. Now if we changed it to SUPPRESS IF FALSE {0A 03 00 28 02},
when it test something true, the menu will not be hidden.

I use WinHex.exe to open the FFS file, then replace 0A 03 00 27 02 with 0A 03 00 28 02, it replace more then 70 times.
Saved the modified FFS file and use the Uefitool to replace the SetupUtility module with this FFS file.  The hacked ROM
was saved as NEW28.ROM. You can use Insyde H2OEZE-W.exe to change the version and modify the the default setup
Values. Finally I use Flash1t.exe to write the NEW28.ROM to my SONY. Power on and press F2 to enter BIOS,
firstly you need to get default values then enter other menus, otherwise it maybe halted. I had met one time.
Enter other menu you will find some new selection.

I choose  EFI boot and external device boot first. Then insert a UEFI bootable USB to test it but the system still enter HD disk C.
The normal WIN7 was start.

Now I am searching how to enter UEFI Boot. Someone says it need to add some EFI modules  to enter EFI Boot.
I will be very grateful if someone could give me some direction.
