There is some kind of engineering sample on my desk which is kind of special.
It has a completely different model number than the devices for public, but built the same... also the device has very low bios/ec versions and was mfg 6 months before GA.
the problem is: I can't apply bios (and ec/ecp) updates on this machine.
As Bios and EC/ECP Versions are 0.XY. (below 1.xx)
While injection newer bios into the dump and flashing with programmer, the bios can be updated and the system is running fine.
the ecp / ec chip/firmware is the problem now.
I tried many things to update the fl2 file manually or automatically but it always fails (or seems to fail).
On every power on (with updated bios [hex edit and programmer]) it says "Configuring Thunderbolt Controller ... Please do not power off" because the auto update of the ec fails. There is not much time of a delay (2-3 sec? if at all).. after that Windows is starting fine but has this message displayed in the bottom.
If I flash Bios back to the initial 0.xy version, the Configuring message is gone.
Is someone able to somehow force the update or disable checks about the ec update?
not sure what exactly the problem is, but I guess it has something to do with some kind of minor version check. (< 1.x)
I don't want to modify anything in bios or ec, I just need some never version into the EC.
-I tried dosflash (smi status 305)
-Pflash.efi (Capsule not found, all the time, not sure what am I doing wrong)
-normal update WINUPTP.exe (from 0.x to 1.x windows crashes while reading. with hex edited bios it will update the bios)
-phlash.exe not working
WINUPTP with -sp -sv -svs and so on.
also regular dos/iso flash environment
