Asus p4s8x-x - add 3.2 P4 cpu support

Hi!

I have an ASUS P4S8X-X socket 478 motherboard that have an Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz with the newest 1005.001 beta bios dated 2003/12/02 (https://www.asus.com/supportonly/P4S8X-X/HelpDesk_BIOS/). Now the problem is that the motherboard dont have official support for the cpu (Only up to 3.06 GHZ Pentium 4) but it clocks down the cpu to 2.13 ghz. And POST says invaild CPUID but it still continues to boot and Windows works normaly. But if i try to open an monitor program that captures info from the cpu the PC halts and restart.

Now i want to upgrade the cpucode in the bios so it supports the 3.2 GHZ Pentium 4. I have the cpucode for it, but its easier said than done to edit the bios.
The file you get when downloading bios update is an 001 file which if you extract, you will get an SYSTEM.ROM file. I have tried open those files with Phoenix BIOS Editor but it doesn't work.

Bricked Toshiba l655-1ke HELP!

Help I tried to install an unlocked bios for my l655-1ke, the bios I installed was made for l655-something_not_1ke.
My bios version before upgrading was insydeh20 2.4, the bios I installed was also insydeh20 2.4, I installed it by renaming the .fd file to BIOS.FD, put in usb flash, and booted the pc using win key +F+ power, since then the pc is bricked
When I press the on button only power and charging led are on and I can hear the fan spinning, screen blank, after sometime it switches itself off.
When I connect a mouse to usb its leds turn on, but when I put a usb flash drive it doesnt blink, I tried two flash drives both formatted fat32.
I tried renaming the original bios to "bios.fd","BIOS.FD","Bios.fd","BIOS.fd","bios.FD","Bios.FD",the original name", nothing worked. when I used phoenixtool it showed "recovery names are Bios.f?" I guess the tool is incompatible with toshiba I guess.

my pc link:http://www.toshiba.fr/discontinued-products/satellite-l655-1ke/
my bios link:http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20120207141325.zip
when you open the zip file you find an .exe file, open it with winrar and you will find .fd file and the flasher.

I use this laptop daily and I can't afford a new one, please any help is highly appreciated..

How to unlock multiplier on QDE4 and B85? Microcodes mod?

$

I read this topic
https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/wha...47/page-98

And people on Xeons can mod their bioses to change multipliers to maximum on 4 cores.

My problem is that i have QDE4 engineering sample and it is 4770K.

But my motherboard Gigabyte B85 D3H v1.0/1.1 is blocking to overclock it and i can only force max turbo. I can't even change voltage.

Default clock is 2800Mhz and i can force it to 3200Mhz on all cores.

Can anyone help? Maybe we can change microcodes or something.

I tried flashing older bioses but with no profit.

Hello all, first time poster here.

I couple of months back I setup a Supervisor password for my laptop's BIOS and now I can't remember what it is. I suddenly realized this because I upgraded my hard drive to bigger and faster 1 TB, 7200 RPM and after partitioning it and reinstalling Windows 10 from scratch (using a USB drive), I tried doing the same but with Linux (I wanted to give it a try to KDE Manjaro) but found myself locked out of my own computer Sad

Can you help? Also, I noticed many people talking about unlocking extra features of their BIOSes and was curious as to what extra settings are hidden in there. I know this computer doesn't come with a TPM chip (that's a shame), but I'm a fan of modding and will really appreciate your help, insight and feedback.

Thanks in advance,

-bitMAN-

[REQUEST] Acer Aspire One AO756 BIOS Unlock

Hello!

So, I'm looking for someone to help me with unlocking the BIOS for my netbook, an Aspire One AO756.

Model: Aspire One Series Q1VZV

Images: https://imgur.com/gallery/xYGsWXs

BIOS URL: https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles...SC=EMEA_27

Current BIOS Version: 2.13

I have a couple of reasons for needing an unlocked BIOS. For one, although I haven't upgraded to 2.21 yet (I'd have to do the rigamarole of installing Windows again, ugh!), I have a hunch that the updated version won't allow me to fiddle around with Secure Boot. I've been trying to install Fedora 29 on here for testing, and quite unexpectedly it does not allow me to select a signed executable to trust because presumably because Fedora is signing the image themselves, not Microsoft. Woohoo.

I would also like the option of turning Secure Boot off while still using UEFI. I have a Broadcom network adapter, and when used in Linux with the UEFI enabled, there's this whole workaround that's necessary just to get the driver to load up at boot time instead of five minutes latter after twiddling your thumbs staring at your desktop. If there are any limitations on the chipset, I'd like to get rid of those.

My final request is that whoever does the mod kindly share the steps they took to do it with me. As a hardware journalist, I'd like to turn this into a side project to show people what they can do to get old hardware working better, or fix problems they encounter on their own, without needing to wait on the manufacturer. Everyone should have the right to repair their stuff, and I'd like to help show them that.

Thanks!

Image is apparently too big to upload as a post attachment so I've put it on dropbox along with the most recent bios revision for my motherboard.

Many thanks to whoever is willing to help me with this.

Edit: originally uploaded image as .png, I've now fixed that. Whoops.

Hello everyone! I would like to have unlocked clock/voltage settings, and memory clock too, so i can customized the performance

Processor: AMD A9-9430 RADEON R5, 5 COMPUTE CORES 2C+3G, 3200Mhz,

Motherboard :
  • HP name: Maple
  • SSID: 82FF
Bios Version You Want Modding: F.25 Rev.A
Link: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp89001-8...p89042.exe
It is an installer, but it gives the option to copy the BIOS image to any location, so it is possible to tinker with.

CPU Upgrade and bios Unlock????

Hi,
Nick here, hoping you could help me out with with my laptop, but first I just want to take the time to say thanks. Thank you.

I have a Sony laptop (model VPC-F1390), Bios: AMI(American Mega trends???) version R0190Y9, and I wanted to upgrade the cpu and unlock the bios so I might be able to tweak it and get a few more years out of her. I bought her new and she has lasted me a long time, and with 3 kids I don't have the money to just buy another laptop so I decided to upgrade it. I installed a SSD, upgraded the ram to 8GB and purchased an I7-940XM. When I did this I didn't think I did it blindly even though I did. I researched compatibility and I figured if the chipset was compatibly I was good, but I am not. I have been doing some more research and found I need the bios modded to incorporate the microcode for the new cpu. FYI, when I installed the new CPU all I got was a blank screen, "what an upgrade" one of my boys said as they laughed at me. Please find attached is the report from CPUZ, the latest bios upgrade from sony, and the intel microcode.
Again, thank you and hope to hear from you.

Multiple Options Use The Same Adress

Hey guys,
Recently I am trying to  enable the PCIE ASPM and PCIE Native Control on my MSI GE62MVR which may allow CPU to get into deeper package c state and extend its battery life. I plan to do this by changing bios settings in NVRAM/COMS by a EFI Shell called GRUB, but when I am looking into the address of those setting I notice several settings are using the same address.

  1. I extracted Setup_PE32_image_section.sct from BIOS backup using UEFITool_0.22.1.exe
  2. I generate Setup_PE32_image_section IFR.txt from the .sct file above by Universal IFR Extractor.exe

Here is part of the code in Setup_PE32_image_section IFR.txt:

0x4C204             End {29 02}

As you can see they share the same variable address:0x4, I think if I directly use Steup_Var 0x4 0x1 will mess up other options. And I also use the commad Setup_Var 0x4 to read the value in it, I was surprised because it told me offset 0x4 is 0x00 and 0x01 at the same time, how can be that possible?

Do anyone can help me with this? Tanks.

Asus Z8NA-D6 microcode cpu

Hello,

I'm looking for someone wich can help me to inject a microcode on the bios.

The max cpu that can use my mobo "Z8NAD6" is the X5675 TDP 95w and what i would like to do is to use a X5679 110w or X5680 130w cpus.

The incompatibility is only marketing restriction i think for keeping his sister Z8NR-D12, Z8PE-D12 on the top of the level...
For exemple the X5675 at stock speed eat more than 95w but was validated as 95w.
I have unlocked the turbo frequency which give me a small bump overclock advantage but i don't know how the include the microcode of the cpu above...

Any help would really be appreciate + donation if worked.

Thanks guys Wink
