Xeon Phi 7120P and Asus Strix z370-e problem (Not showing up in BIOS?)

Hello,

First of all, I am new to this forum, and I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

I've been looking for a solution to my problem, and someone said that you guys might be able to help me.


I bought a Xeon Phi 7120P Coprocessor recently to use with my computer. Since my motherboard (Asus STRIX Z-370-e w/ 8700k) supports above 4G decoding, and similar chipsets have been able to run Xeon Phi Coprocessors (z170, h270m, z390), I assumed that the Xeon Phi would work with my system. However, no matter what I have tried, the BIOS nor any OS seems to see the Coprocessor as installed in my system. The motherboard registers the slot as filled, and brings my main GPU down to pci-e x8, but says that there is nothing installed into the 2nd PCI-E slot. I've also tried it as the only PCI-E card and used dedicated graphics, but to no avail.

I assume that this is a BIOS problem, due to the fact that the motherboard is detecting the card, and the card is powering on, it's just that nothing is showing up in the BIOS or OS.

Any help from anyone that might know what's going on, why it isn't working, or what direction I should go in to continue trying to solve my problem is GREATLY appreciated.

i7 2860QM on Lenovo G770

Hi,

I'd like to know whether my old Lenovo G770 would support and upgrade to i7 2860qm. I saw a video on YouTube of someone who managed to successfully install an i7 2720qm in this laptop. Also, what would you advise with respect to the fact that this i7 has a higher TDP (45W) than the original CPU - i5 2450m (35W).

EDIT: My laptop's motherboard chipset is the Intel HM65.

HP 8200 elite ami bios

Hi,
issue i have is the stupid bios locks the cpu to 34x multi no matter how many cores are in use.. It should be 38xmulti if 1 core is in use and 35x if all 4 and 34x is max non turbo multi..

i just want to manually set the clock multi. I dont even mind if i have to use throttle stop to make it work (it does not work with the current bios)

So any mods for the bios or any alternative bioses that would work with this board that have that option would be great..

How to mod Lenovo bioses?

Hi guys, i work in a business which sells refurbished laptops, we want to sell them with battery in good conditions and we have a lot of problems with recent thinkpads because, if bios is updated, 90% of the time compatible batteries do not work. We need documentation or a place to find patches for uefi, we don't want to request every bios, it's too much to ask you because we have lot of models and they have different revisions. I'd really like to learn instead.

Hello, I'm a student in embedded system, but I'm again a beginer in the science of BIOS, so I need your help in this case.
I wanted update my BIOS but now I can just show "Default Boot Device Missing" when I boot my computer. I have show some tricks to reflash the BIOS but I don't want do worst things.
Someone can help me ?

Lenovo TS140 SLIC BIOS Request

Hi all

I've been running Server 2016 on ESXi for the past few years using a modified ESXi ROM BIOS file and the 'bios440.filename' hack to activate Server 2016 within ESXi.

I'd like to stop using ESXi and move to Windows directly on the TS140, however the TS140 doesn't currently have any SLIC tables on it. 
Can anyone modify the default BIOS to include SLIC 2.4 (or 2.5 if possible!)?

I'm currently running BIOS version CZA - https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/think...iosdos.zip

The latest BIOS is version DOA - https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/think...iosdos.zip

I have Asus x54c with Celeron B815 and i bought i5-2450M. The computer starts for 1-2s and turns off. Could it be the fault of lack of support in bios?

Hello, I have an acer travelmate p2510 that I would like unlocked, specifically the option to be able to boot from LEGACY boot option. It is currently limited to UEFI no matter what settings are changed. Is this possible?

[REQUEST] Lenovo Yoga 2 11 Model 20428 Whitelist Removal

First post here so hopefully I've got everything right.

My friend just got a lenovo yoga 2 11 with a core i3 4012Y to replace his surface pro 5 due to a dead soldered SSD. There are different models of this yoga, like the one with a pentium, but the one in this thread is the 20428 model with the i3 4012Y.

I own an identical motherboard in my collection of stuff, and have decided to use mine for playing around with so my friend's unit isn't down. Testing the board will require swapping it with the one in my mom's yoga though.

I've desoldered the BIOS chip and dumped its contents, available here:

Lenovo's BIOS update for it can be found here:

The original wifi adapter has an ID of PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_302617AA&REV_01

I do not know if the board I dumped was running the same version as the provided update however. Let me know if it needs to be, and I'll put this board in my mom's laptop chassis, update the BIOS, and dump it again.

I plan to put the image back on the notebook the same way I got it off if I can, using my CH341A programmer and good ol' lead based solder. Much easier than dicking around with software.

I'm quite curious as to how this mod is performed, as my mom has the pentium version of this laptop and really does need a decent wifi card, and would be awesome if I could perform the mod myself.
