Hi
I need unlock hidden options in bios (Advanced Settings)

but...
I have two mainboards of this laptop.
- CPU + INTEL GPU + AMD GPU (mounted in a laptop)
- CPU + INTEL GPU (unmounted)
I make a bios dump from mainboard (CPU + INTEL GPU) with SPI programmer and if u make mod from this file can I also flash it to second mainboard with (CPU + INTEL GPU + AMD GPU)
or I have to make separate bios dump and mod for the version ?

Laptop Name : Lenovo G510 (CPU + INTEL GPU)
Model : 80A8

BIOS version : InsydeH20 79CN50WW (V3.09)

Help with ES on X11DPi motherboard

Hello everyone,

I am trying to use a ES Xeon Platinum 8124 on X11DPi motherboard. These are customized chips for Amazon AWS C5 platform. The one I have has Q-spec QLJV. I believe it's a stepping 2 chip. Attached is a photo of the product detail from Intel database.

This chip was known to work on X11DPH motherboard with certain BIOS but I'm trying to use it with X11DPi. I have tried released Bios 1.0, 1.0b and 2.0 however it does not post. I used a debug card module and it shows 00. The motherboard is brand new and tested good with other CPUs.

I think there are two issues. Firstly, as you can see in the photo, this chip has a 240W TDP and this would exceed the power limit for the socket. This could prevent the motherboard from starting up. Secondly would be the microcode. I dig into the microcode and I compare all the BIOS versions, including non release version of X11Dpi, and they are have the same microcode patch for Pre-production CPUs. Screen shot attached and as you can see, CPU ID 0654 is production and 0650, 0651 and 0652 are all Pre-production codes. I flashed the BIOS and it still shows 00.

I also dig into AWS C5 platform information and apparently this is what I found.

Looks like it needs a different microcode 0x100013a and it shows family 6 model 85 which matches stepping 3 or 4 Skylake-EP/W processor.

I have experience using AWS processors with both Haswell and Broadwell architectures on X99 boards so I know for sure that they do work on consumer motherboards. Could anyone help me with the issue? I am willing to donate if anyone could modify the BIOS and make it work. Thanks!

EFI password in x86 Android Tablet

Hi Forum.

I have this Android BayTrail x86 tablet (Medion LifeTab P8314 / MD99612) I wanted to install Linux or a newer Android to. To boot Linux from an USB stick I wanted to change the boot order, but I can not access the EFI setup. Normally the setup can not be accessed, but booting from a Android-x86 LiveUSB-Stick gave me the option to enter the EFI setup. When I chose this, a BIOS-setup-like text screen appears and wants me to input a password, supposedly to enter the BIOS setup. Is there a way to disable that by modding the ROM?
I have extracted the AMI BIOS ROM (see attachment) using AfuEfix64.efi. I can open that file in AMIBCP 5.01, but got no idea where to search...
I also tried reflashing the ROM with AfuEfix64.efi and setting some options to clear the NVRAM, but the password does not seem to be stored in the NVRAM...

Any hints on removing that password are welcome. I'm not afraid to break the device, so hack away... Wink

Fujitsu-Siemens BIOS - LGA 771 to 775 microcode

Hey there!

I didn't knew where to post this thread, so i decided Motherboards is propably the right one. My Problem is that i have an old fileserver, which i wanted to use again has no bios cpu support for my new bought LGA 771 to 775 modded XEON X5460 from 2006. I have heared that you have to put this ncpucode.bin into your bios.bin with CBROM195.exe. The problem is that cmd/cbrom gives a "cbrom195.exe v.19.5 Phoenix technologies" message, but nothing happens after that for like hours running this command:

Code:
cbrom195.exe Bios.BIN /nc_cpucode NCPUCODE.BIN
The point is i had to backup my bios with majorgeeks bios backup tool. Idk if that is the problem why cbrom195.exe can't execute.

The mainboard is a 2006 fujitsu-siemens dc2151s1 mainboard with locked bios. Atm i am running a good old pentium4 630 and it works.

If anybody could help me include the ncpucode into the bios and if possible unlock it to modify cpu target speed.

It is a locked v5 phoenix bios: Phoenix BIOS

Thank you so so so so much!

G50vt-x5 upgrade from x9100 to QX9300 (Freezing at startup)

Hello,

I have had this laptop since 2008 and it has served me well. I still use it as my main, daily computer. It just feels tough. I have a newer, much faster computer, but I cant stand how cheap it feels.

I have taken great care of this laptop since its taken good care of me. I have upgraded:
-Ram from 4gb to 8gb DDR2 800mhz
-CPU from its original P7450 (2.13)-> T9600 (2.80) -> x9100 (3.07) and hopefully to the QX9300 (quad core 2.53)
-Placed an SSD as the main storage and startup. Have 320gb HDD as a 2nd storage since it accepts 2 drives.
-Express Card 54mm (hidden, doesn't pop out)
-Replaced the battery
-Free upgrade to windows 10
-bluetooth usb
-Upgraded the old fan with a more efficient one that had better reviews. more fins/blades)
-I have the external Opolar Sucktion cooler. Works great.
-Replace thermal paste every 6months or so.
-I also always have it connected to a 2nd Display since I work and watch movies. Performance is solid. But a quad core vs duo core would really be nice. Especially since I multitask and run antivirus and malware daily.

Very happy with this laptop. The SSD and overclocked (this laptop has built in Turbo and Turbo Extreme Options) have allowed me to use this computer 10 years later. Very happy with it still.

This time, I am having trouble replacing the CPU. From what I read, its the same fitting and should be able to work, but I dont know what I can do next.

I restarted it a few times, but it freezes as soon as the windows logo pops up. The "loading" circle comes out but doesn't complete one cycle. Freezes instantly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am desperate, I bough new GPU in hope that I can boost my PC.
After it came, I realized that Medion is blacklisting newer GPUs...
Searched many forums, manually translated german ones but no help there.

Can anyone please show me how to unlock this bios so I can use my R9 270x?

Oficial bios download is here:
http://cdn.medion.com/downloads/treiber/bio7728.exe

I downloaded AMIBCP software but I have no idea what should I edit...

Can anyone save me and maybe post already edited bios file with some instructions?  Sad

Hello, first i'd like to congratulate all of you smart people out there, good work, i learned a lot around here.
Second, i'd like the adv menu mode in order to troubleshoot a problem with the egpu compatibility (i've soldered a 1x pcie port in the side of the notebook then i run the pcie signal trough an  IDE cable to keep the same distance between the differential pins to solder to a scratched wireless mpcie board. I had a toshiba once that had two mpcie's, the other one was outside in a ribbon and easily solderable because there was no mpcie connector in the board, i used this egpu in that board, i know it works and it should be a software problem in the new laptop. Plus i like having control over my sh1t. Thank you.
