Thinkpad T430 black screen

My Thinkpad T430 (Intel GPU only; no NVidia) now has a black screen when powered on. No beeps are heard but the LEDs light up and the HDD makes noise. I have backups of both the 8MB SPI and 4MB SPI BIOS/UEFI chips. I extracted blobs from these backups then built a Coreboot image and flashed it. The first time I did this, the computer completely booted up with graphical glitches which went away when the login screen came up. I was happy that the whitelists were gone and ME was broken at the knees. I wanted to fix the image so that I could actually see and interact with the firmware.

This is where I made a stupid mistake  Confused . I figured it would be safe to try anything since I had complete backups of the BIOS/UEFI chips. So, I tried updating the firmware via flashrom with the internal option. I didn't get too far; all I did was test flashrom with the verbose option; I ditched the plan when flashrom gave me very intense warnings. Next time I rebooted, the computer died. I then tried reflashing various Coreboot image configurations and even the original image (more than once); the best I ever got was a blank screen with and flashing LEDs with fan spinning. I tried removing the CMOS battery, thinking that could be the problem, but it doesn't seem to matter. I've read that this could be a sign of ESD, but I was very careful with the motherboard and left it in its tray/base to minimize the possibility of that happening.

I don't know what to do now. Either ESD killed the motherboard (and the BIOS stuff is just a huge coincidence) or I might have messed up the EC. Is the EC firmware embedded into the BIOS stuff? Does anyone have an EC backup I can use? Any other suggestions? Please help me!

First post...background, I am a Mac person and happened to found the above computer next to the trash dumpster. So, I took it home, and it worked...then, I decided to turn it into a PFSense machine. I bought 8GB of Crucial RAM (800 MHz) and an i350...feeling gung-ho.  Then came the sadness...the PC environment is not plug and play as Macs do...on top of that, the only PCIe✕16 slot won't accept the intel - i350 NIC and it won't boot (PFSense 2.3) when the NIC installed. If I remove the Intel - i350, the computer boots. Searching the web for a solution led me to here...(https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-H...ng-Options).

So, having found here, I decided why not really mod this puppy...so, I bought the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.1GHz Dual-Core Processor 89W  (on its way from China...should arrive by Thanksgiving) and a 16GB SSD to use that for the OS and the current onboard HD for data logging storage.

Question...will the BIOS upgrade to v.5.27 from V.5.18 unlock the PCIe✕16 slot, which it seems is for only graphics currently? I could not find confirmation on AES - NI support. The best deal is to use that PCIe✕16 for the NIC and disable the onboard one.

Lenovo E330 bad bios recovery

Hi!

I was unlucky and tried to update my E330 to latest bios. Lazy Lenovo had a ton of complaints that the latest Bios stoped the progress under update process - me and many others have bad bios as an result of Lenovo lazy asses couldn't remove and update the latest error bios. Now i´ll can't boot without reprogramming the bios with special equipment, i have all the equipment but can't seem to correct the new bios by this instructions from a user (probably a lenovo employe).

Could anyone please help me correct the latest bios by this instructions (see link above)

1) Download whether the bios file https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/h3uj04ww.exe or use your own file (in my case I downloaded this version).
Download files (two zip) from this share:  Link removed

2) Extract the BIOS file, be careful uncheck the box inviting you to install the patch at the end of installer.

3) Copy the file .\H3UJ04WW\H3ET31WW\$01H3000.FL1 anywhere and rename it 01H3000.bin.

4) Open the copied file with Notepad++ or a binary editor (could be better).

5) Remove usless content from Offset 0 to 0x00800000, that means you remove All 0xFF --> ÿ character. The file must start with following characters:
Save the modification, the file size should be at about 4MB.

6) Plug your SPI programmer and install the driver using "driver-- 24CXX25XX.EXE" installer.
