Have done a search to see if this one has been done but results only shown for UD3 & UD7 variants.

Will be so grateful if you can do this for me.

Manufacturer : Gigabyte

Model : GA-990FXA-UD5 (REV 3.0)
Bios Type : AMI EFI
Bios Revision : FB
Bios Link: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/BIO...3.x_fb.exe
Manufacturer : Gigabyte

There is a newer bios revision FCh for the above board but it nearly bricked mine.
Had to short the main bios out to force boot from backup bios.
Tried it twice with the same result so I'll stick with this revision.

Thank you so much.

Hello, sorry for intrusion but really hope someone could enlighten me up through situation I has currently that being wrote down below thanks.

Been using Acer E1-572G with v2.17 Unlocked Menu but seem to be bricked now after someone playing around pressing my bios inside video configuration option in bios change as PCI if not mistaken.

Currently my laptop screen doesn't seem turn on at all.

Been searching around for V5WE2217.fd but the only thing I can found in Acer site only .exe file when extracted doesn't have any .fd file to use something so called crisis/flash recovery? Well not sure what it's called..something likely been using Fn+Esc I supposed.. and I did tried to extract those file from V5WE2217 into thumb/flash drive (format fat32) and tried this method but it just doesn't seem working which I probably thought maybe because there's no .fd file inside (BIOS.fd)

So am hoping or more likely requesting if that someone that has V5WE2217.fd file could share at least or much better with the unlocked bios version too.. won't mind to have downgrade version too as long this could be fix thanks..
If there's any other solution for this problem, am hoping someone could enlighten me other option beside this..
Also I heard that there's probably other combination
Fn+F, Fn+B, Fn+Esc, Win+F, Win+B, Ctrl+Home, Ctrl+Esc
Is it possible any of this combination else beside Fn+Esc that commonly being used or does anyone ever tried to fix this bios bricked matter and solved it? If there's anyone already done it hopefully ya could share the solution thanks.

Also lastly, does considering to desolder the CMOS battery would it work to reset back the bios current setting?
Unless the only option to had myself Bios Programmer to flash the bios back? But well I don't think I had knowledge for that especially the tool, so does most of IT shop probably know how to fix this kind of matter usually..? Well just asking. Looking for best option to fix this if possible.

(PS:/ Sorry demm long message for am really n00b overall this matter.. Well extra question.. been wondering if any PC/IT Shop know how to do so or does my best option to look for Acer branch and hoping they could repair it or likely sent it to Acer directly for repair the bios matter?)

Thanks in advance.
My best regards,
Wink Wink Wink Wink

[As for the image below, it's actually result file I saw attached on certain thread which involved E1-572 (not G version tho) and it made me wonder if any of this file especially .bin is a backup file that I could use as .fd by renaming it? It seem to be from that thread the same version but not sure if it's actually essentially different hope someone can respond for that too thanks]

Hello,
after updating the BIOS of my Dell Latitude XT2, I have had a blackscreen. After removing the CMOS battery the laptop starts with a blank screen and a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. Then nothing happend any more. I tried to put the newest BIOS (http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01556667M/1/XT2_A15.exe) on it, but the instructions (https://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/...-recovery/) does not work. With the phoenix tool I got this massage:
Pubkey in 48_16.ROM (x1)
Marker (2.1) (DELL  M09     ) in 49_17.ROM (x1)
I tried both names with the packed and the unpacked file. None works.
The 1GB USB stick was prepared with WINCRIS.EXE and I've done it step by step as the instruction told.
Have anybody an idea where's my mistake could be?
Kind regards

Flash Intel retail motherboard BIOS with custom microcodes

$

I'm planning buying a used Intel DG41MJ motherboard and modding it to use a 771 xeon but bios format is *.bio. I don't know Intel motherboard manufacturer (think they just have their own bios..) and I don't know how to upgrade the latest bios *.bio file with updated microcodes.

I started watching this video, then reading this guide, but I can't find informations about Intel retail motherboards or about their BIOS type or about a tool to flash their BIOS. I tried simply changing format (for these type of files the format should act simply as a container so I should be able to rename them using *.ISO or *.IMG too without problems) but the phoenix tool I first used just freezes (I mean it doesn't actually freeze because I can move the window without problems or alerts but it just takes forever..) and then I used the AMI tool but renaming the bios file using the *.BIN format and loading it doesn't work too.. help?

edit so, after a lot of researches I discovered that the .bio file is a special archive made by intel where you can find the main BIOS and other stuff. the problem here is extracting the bios and making it readable by a mod tool. It is possible for AMI bios built in in bio update files but the motherboard I want to buy seems to have a phoenix bios bult in the bio file so I probably can't do anything :/ if you are interested I edited my post on a subreddit here explaining what I discovered (hope it is not spam). I'm stuck and probably no one can help me :/

Asus F8Sn video upgrade works, but no DVI

Hi,

Is anyone still working on these old beasts?  I see here they were popular mod targets several years ago.  Now that Moore's law has seemingly come to an end, old machines like these are more usable than ever, and I am inexplicably obsessed with upgrading them rather than buying a new, faster laptop.  I guess it's my dislike of the planned-obsolescence, throw-it-away mentality.

I have a F8Sn (well, it's an F8Sn motherboard... it was originally an F8Sp), which originally came with the Nvidia 9300 G (not GS) or the 9500 GS (both G86 series despite being labeled 9xxx).  I used MMTOOL 3.26 successfully to add the option ROM for my new video card, a 220M GS (which I've read is a rebadged 9600, though its specs show it as being a 9650).

It works quite well in Windows (after modifying the INF) and Linux... but as others have noted when upgrading like this, the DVI output no longer works.  Windows and Linux cannot detect the monitor on the DVI port, and the usual Fn-8 switching doesn't work either.  (The VGA port works, though.)

I've tried four or five different option ROMs for the 220, all extracted from various Asus models that used the 220, but none fixed the DVI.

I am thinking there is another module in the firmware image that could be swapped or modified.  There's a little more to it than just the option ROM, as my experience with my former F8Sp board showed.

Initially, I tried using the 220 with my F8Sp setup, which came with an ATI HD3650M.  I added the same option ROM that is now working in my F8Sn setup to the F8Sp's firmware, but it was never usable that way.  I could see the screen image, but shortly after booting, the system would become unresponsive to mouse or keyboard input.  It did this even in the BIOS setup, so it wasn't a Windows or Linux driver issue.  The VGA BIOS version in the BIOS setup was blank.

In the attempt to fix that, I bricked the motherboard.  I tried using the usual recovery methods, but they all failed... but that is another topic (but if anyone has any fix-it ideas, I am all ears!).  The relevant point here is that there seems to be some kind of back-end in the BIOS that is necessary for the option ROM to work.  I see people here report that inserting oroms for Nvidia cards into F8 family laptops (which includes the A8) that came with ATI cards worked, but it didn't work for me.

Any ideas welcome!

Xeon bios update for Optiplex 980

is there a bios or could you make a bios for Dell Optiplex 980 (MB0106 0C522T) that allows me to use the Xeon cpu's?
That way I could use the less costly xeons with a small modification on my lga1156 mb, instead of the i7-875K...

AHCI in Asus K50ID BIOS?

$

Hey! I just brought a new SSD for my Asus K50ID but I can't install either windows or linux on it! Windows just freezes and Ubuntu installer gives me error 30 (read only) no matter what I do. I was able to install on it when it was put into another computer and even boot up on the installed system with the first computer, but then same problem, it's read only. I tried to google around and ask in the ubuntu forums and they all say it's about AHCI-settings, something I can't find in my K50ID BIOS.

Is there anyway to enable, mod, or go around this whole thing? I'd really like not to just have wasted 50$ on a drive that doesn't work with my computer.

[Help] Stuck with Abit IP-35 pro and Xeon E5440 E0

Hi,

I'd like to get these two working. I added the xeon microcodes to the latest BIOS which I found on an abit backup site here , verified that it contains the microcodes , and flashed it. My problems are:

1) The board doesn't boot normally, but it starts first, and at the 9.0 code it shuts down immediatelly and starts again. For the second try it managed to launch the boot sequence. Here it loads the default values for the BIOS settings no matter what was set previously in the BIOS. Hence I can't change anyhing in the BIOS, since it always loads the default values when it starts

2) When the windows stars booting somewhere in the middle of the boot sequence it stops with a BSOD: "multiprocessor_configuration_not_supported"

I tested this windows install with a different CPU previously ( QX6850)  and it worked flawlessly. The only thing I changed is the CPU.
I tried to install another instance of Win 7 to a different drive but I ran into the same problem.

Then I surfed a while on the web if I could find somehting related to the problem. Unfortunatelly I found nothing, but I found a modded BIOS for the IP35-pro with the 771 Xeon microcodes on a russian site (links somewhere in the middle of the page), flashed both versions of the BIOS, but neither of them worked, same BSOD again.

I guess the CPU should work in this mobo, cause otherwise there would'nt be any mod BIOS available for download, but it still looks as if the motherboard  would not handle the CPU correctly.

Any ideas , suggestions woukd be appreciated.
