[REQUEST] Wanlida PC8001H nettop, nonUEFI H2O unhide advanced

Hello to everybody!!!
This is a nettop pc (thin client) from China named Wanlida PC8001H, it has Intel Atom N270, 1Gb of DDR3, integrated intel graphic, wi-fi module etc. Motherboard seems like a laptop system board.
1. BIOS is Inside H2O ver. D0.05T45.35.07 (show on main menu), I backup it by Universal BIOS backup Toolkit 2.0,
link https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6FsLg3OuR-GMUNiYjQ4eUVrMlE
2. Now opened 4 menus: Main; Security; Boot; Exit and hide Advanced and Power. photo:
link https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6FsLg3OuR-GQXUxVmY0dm42T28
3. I very need to change graphic parameters in advanced menu, but Advanced menu is hide.
I has tested many programs and choose Universal BIOS backup Toolkit 2.0 to backup BIOS, Flashit 2.0b to flash bios, EFI IFR Dumper to find what to change in bios and I used j-bios.py script to replace menu, but it has a error.
BIOS is not UEFI and I cann't use UEFI Shell.
I even try to disassemble my BIOS (thanks to Donovan6000's blog) and find that my skill in disassemling is bad  Blush
I'm not founded how to recover bad BIOS (if it will not works), but I can solder it and flash in programmer CH431A.

I ask to help me unhide Advanced menu or replace Security and Advanced menus, or say how I can change some bytes in bios like in UEFI Shell, important for me bytes is 0x57h, 0x59h, 0x5Ah

Thanks a lot!!!

Project to overclock 8 core Xeon E5 2670 - BIOS mods?

Hi BIOS-Mods users!

I'm a stranger to these parts, but am curious to see if anyone here would be able to help with our research into ways to overclock the very very cheap E5-2670.  Right now eBay is flooded with these, at a bargain price.

This is an 8 Core, 20MB chip that will work on X79, but is clocked <3.3GHz and therefore a little slow in single-threaded work. I am looking to find any way [at this point, no matter how labour-intensive] to overclock or unlock this chip.

Is it possible to somehow modify something in the BIOS to aid/achieve this result?

EG - [this is a guess or first step] Detect the 2670 as another chip, perhaps a faster model like the E5-2690 then perhaps we will be able to overclock it by using the turbo frequencies of the 2690?

There may be other ways, that's why I am asking here, to see if this community can help my thread on overclock.net.

Please have a read through on oc.net if you're interested in this project, and post here if you have any suggestions or think this may be possible, the way I suggested or ANY other.

Remember - right now I don't have ANY limitations on what may make it work - ALL suggestions or demonstrations are welcome, no matter what Motherboard or BIOS you think or can prove will work. I am also interested to find/contact people who may have detailed knowledge about the way the chips declare their capabilities to the OS or BIOS, I will collect and organise all this information for the project.

If we can find a way to achieve this, a lot of people will benefit! Rome wasn't built in a day, but an 8-core 4GHz core Xeon could render it in one Wink

Commell lv-67b phoenix bios unlock request

I enclose latest firmware 1.4C2 of commell lv-67b.
I need firmware with the following mod
1333mhz ram support. I have installed  2x4gb 1333mhz ram modules but are recognized as 1066mhz

Can someone help me out. It is a phoenix-award bios but cpuid says phoenix? so I suppose it is phoenix bios

This latest bios sorts out many problems I had with firmware 1.3 including usb flash drive recognition, in case someone wants to install windows 8, 8.1,10 when booting up instead of using CDRom disc. Also raid option is added. One problem still remains is the ahci and raid options. The ide cd-rom when booting is not recognized when selecting ahci or raid options. So if you have a problem with windows you are stuck and you will not be able to use recovery. So unless you have a ahci compatible CDRom I recommend you stick with ide choice.

UEFI Backup(done with Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0): link

Old card is Broadcom BCM43142
New card is Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235

And question: In other topics with requests for this laptop, were mentions for unlocked hidden settings and recomendations not to touch settings for GPU. What exactly that settings can do, and if you can unlock and lock particular parameters, why not to just hide harmful ones?

Thank you

Asrock resurrected with HOT Flash, but now video problems

Hi guys. I have a problem with an Asrock IMB150 (J1900)

I made a wrong update (batch programming error), and update the bios with another motherboard bios.

Now, I recovered the IMB150 with hot flash from another identical Asrock IMB150 (I work with these cards).

The problem is that after this, the death mobo is operating normally, windows too, but I have issue with screen. (similar to the picture, my screen looks better however)

The driver is NOT the problem. The same HDD with Windows 8 works without problems on second mobo.

The bios chip is NOT the problem. On the second mobo works withouth problems.

When I made the wrong bios flash, I used
Code:
afudose IMB1501.50D /p /b /n /x

Then, when I recovered the bios with hot flash, I flash the correct bios in the same way. I have tried to flash in different ways, but the problem remains.

I get unrecognized command when i run the whole bios flash in this way. (afudos command)

Code:
afudos IMB1501.50D /P /B /N /C /E /K

If I remember correct, I was able to run afudos with /E parameters, but not with /C. However I made different CMOS with jumpers and putting out the battery.

The Intel ME can be the problem? Any suggest?

Thanks

[SOLVED] - Dell XPS 14Z without panel

$

Hi all,

First of all, thanks everyone for your hard work.

I have a Dell XPS 14Z with a busted case, everything works fine but it'd be too expensive to rebuild the case and I don't really need this laptop anymore, so I thought about turning it into a media center. I'd like to get it to run without the unnecessary hardware (keyboard, trackpad, ...) and also to remove the LCD panel and just keep the motherboard in a custom case.

The problem I have is that I can't figure out a way to get the laptop to boot with the panel disconnected from the motherboard. I'd like to keep this panel for another project (maybe make a frame to display net-art via a raspberry pi with an hdmi -> lvds board, kind of a diy electric objects' EO1, but this still needs to be tested...)

I've been searching the forum for some infos and I was able to flash the modded A06 bios for this computer, released by Donovan6000.
https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...7#pid65897

I tried various settings in the advanced tab, under the Video section, and what seems to be a way to get it to not check if a panel is present is to put the primary display to PEG instead of IGFX or SG. When I reboot, video immediately start being output through the display port, but I can only get a blinking white cursor for about a minute and then the cursor stops blinking and I get the 8 beeps of death, can't even access the BIOS. I get this error with the LCD panel connected or not.
Any other settings I tried always output the video to the LCD panel first and immediately gives me the 8 beeps if I disconnect the panel.

I found a thread on Dell's forum about the Alienware M18x R2 giving the 8 beeps if primary display is set to PEG, and it looks like deactivating Non-Turbo flex support solves the problem, but I don't see this option in the XPS 14Z BIOS.

Sorry for being a BIOS noob...

Does anyone have any suggestion to get this motherboard to boot, either via a combination of BIOS settings, or tricking it into thinking there's a panel connected ?

Thinkpad W520 Bios Mod for unlocked ram speed

Helllo,

I am looking for a bios mod that will remove the bios lock that limits the ram speed of the W520 that is currently limited to 1333mhz. I have read forums on here that talk about it but I am unsure if such a bios mod actually exists. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. Thank you in advance.

Hi!

Could someone mod this original BIOS version 1.39:
https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc...uj19us.exe

to add Advanced Menu and, more importantly, remove the whitelist AND the memory speed limit?

I believe after 1.31 Lenovo introduced memory speed limit to 1333Mhz.
Here is 1.31 (without speed limit) for reference: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj12us.exe

My understanding is that Oleh compiled such bios with the following functions:
- whitelist removal
- Unblocked AES
- Unlocked memory speed
- Unblocked AES_MSR_0xE2
- new vbios Intel
- Advanced Tab Swap

BUT it is nowhere to be found.

Much obliged!
