[REQUEST] Acer VN7-792G

Hello all, I started playing around with modding the BIOS for my particular model. Using the guide that I had found for the 791G, I ended up hitting a wall. I'm wanting to enable the Advanced Tab and unhide any other menus.

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 R5 rev 1.0

-Bios Revision : any (i.e. F9 or F10e most recent but older is fine, I haven't updated yet)
-Bios SLIC : DELL 2.1?
-Bios Link : http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product...=3894#bios (shows more than the 2 above)

I listed Dell as an example. I'll take ACER, ASUS, SONY, and a handful of others that match the attached SLIC zip.

The sooner the better, thanks in advance!

I'm new to all of this, honestly. Blush  My plan is to follow these guides:

https://www.raymond.cc/blog/downgrade-windows-7-64bit-to-32bit-x64-to-x86 (backup and restore section, I already tried this without the mod, no dice)
http://www.squidworks.net/2015/03/how-to-windows-7-oem-activation (hoping this will work with mod)
I'm hoping, after that, this miiiight work since I previously qualified: http://microsoft-news.com/how-to-manuall...windows-10

For now, I cannot for the life of me get OEM Windows to cooperate after my old rig spazzed out. Sad  I don't need anything fancy, just for it to activate and pass the genuine check so I can get back to my life.

I plan to upgrade the wifi from an Intel 3160AC to an Intel 7260AC.
Currently the laptop is on BIOS version A3CN33WW (the latest one).

Do you guys have a BIOS backup utility that works from a bootable DOS disk? I don't have a Windows install on my Lenovo to run Universal BIOS Backup.

I will donate for the patched BIOS after I upload the backed up BIOS.

This laptop is utilizing 32gb integrated ssd (issd) sandisk i100 which is so terrible because there is no way to disable the cache and it is difficult to do a clean windows installation. I am swapping the old 5400rpm hdd to a full samsung ssd and want to utilize my ssd without the sandisk msata cache.

Can anyone help me to unlock it or mod the bios so that it doesn't mount the msata sandisk i100 32gb ssd at all?

Thanks! I will donate thru paypal for anyone who can help it!!!

Lenovo Z585 (A10-4600m) WiFi Whitelist removal

The solution may be buried somewhere in here, but I am old and can't fight the dead links and such. I need to remove the very limited list of wifi/BT modules for this laptop. I can't even find a single one online and would like to be able to upgrade to at least a TRUE N speed, if not AC. My maximum connection speed with the current hardware is only 72mbps on supposedly an N connection, while a NetGear dongle will connect at 144mbps. My current BIOS is the 60CN17WW version. I need the ability to put in whatever WiFi I want and exact directions on how to do it. I have flashed A BIOS before on desktops, but not a laptop. This is the AMD version with the A10-4600m processor. The current card is a Broadcom. Thanks for the help beforehand!

How to flash modded bios?

to anyone that has removed whitlist from lenovo t520-- what wifi card do you use?

I just (successfully! thank you bios-mods.com) removed the whitelist from my old t520s.
I tried putting an intel AC7260, and the computer boots, and the card is recognized in device manager. But either I don't see any networks in wirless controller (yes, I conntected the antennae properly), or, most of the time, I get an "error 10-- cannot start device"

Has anyone used the 7260 successfully in the T520?

I've seen elsewhere that the wifi switch on that vintage of laptop can sometimes cause newer cards to foul up, and others have taped off pin 20 (which, if I'm counting right, pin 20 on the 7260 is a blank).

Anyway, any thoughts on this would be helpful.  Even if there's another AC card out there that is proven to work, I'm all ears.

Make/Model: Toshiba Satelite a505-s6035 (psat9u-00m001)

bios Insyde 1.40, 8/31/2010 - http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/sat6v140.exe

Really its sort of a science project. I of course want to change the PCIe wireless care to something more up to date.

I have switched around different ram modules, and even though it came with 1066 - the i7-720qm can support 1333mhz, and seems to without problems.

I have a rPGA988 processor and ive found better ones with limited power differential for cheap, I kind of want to try a PCIe SSD for funsies, and also I have the Nvidia Geforce GT-330m ( Device ID: 0x0A29 | Vendor ID: 0x10DE ) currently, and wanted to see if there were options on grabbing a better one that's more power efficient, or something cool. You know, cause science? But I don't know what Toshibas white list has or doesn't have since ive never found a copy of any compatibility lists, so if anyone has links that would be just fine.

Perhaps this could all be avoided, but I cant seem to find the whitelists for this machine anywhere, so the next logical step is to  get rid of the crap! You know, for science.

Hello,

is there anybody who knows where to find a BIOS version for the Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 (V. 3.05) without a whitelist for the Wifi cards?

I would like to install a Intel AC 7260 card for using the ac standard but after reading all the posts I suppose that this will fail without manipulation of the BIOS.

Thank you very much and sorry for my bad english.

I have a Lenovo Y40-70 that I am also looking to unlock the bios for. I found this thread, and from OP description, I have the exact same laptop that he does. From reading the thread, it looks like the BIOS has to be downgraded from 99CN28WW to 99CN24WW, then reflashed with the modified BIOS. Unfortunately, I cant find the old BIOS rom anywhere.

Because I know they will be needed...

Heres my current 99CN28WW BIOS rom:  http://www.sendspace.com/file/u9q9m0

Heres my AIDA64 Report:  http://www.sendspace.com/file/s5j30n

Heres the other BIOS Report: www.sendspace.com/file/8xzex2

Thanks for the help!!
