[REQUEST] Unlock C1e option in HP IPMEL-AE bios, and other cpu options, if possible

$

Hi to all,

I am new here so excuse my ignorance regarding bios modding... The only mod I know to do is insert Cpu microcodes in AMI Roms using MM tool...
Talking of this, I inserted latest codes for 45 nm 775 and Xeon 771 in the attached ROM file for IPMEL-AE board, to mount a X5460 cpu, to give a final boost kick to the pc.

The pc of concern is a HP HP link
with a Pegatron board IPMEL-AE
MB link

After modding and flashing this bios, the bios posts fine, recognizes the cpu but windows hangs during the Welcome message. I had the same problem before on an Asus P5Q and think it is related to C1E not being disabled. The bios does not offer the possibility to disable it...

Unlocking CPU features such as C1E, C-state technology, EIST may solve the problem ; the bios already includes Virtualisation Tech and Execute Disable bit option.

Advices and help from any good soul with a deep knowledge on this matter are most welcome.

Thank you in advance for reading.
Cheers

hey there, I got two Lenovo IdeapadN581 with BIOS 5ECN96WW(V9.01) and want to use Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC3160HMW on both of them.

Is it possible to use the modified BIOS I hopefully get from you to use this on both of them, they use both win 8 64 bit with the same bios version?

Here is the backup, created with Universal Bios Backup:

Insyde 5.0 on Atom and Legacy/CSM mode

Hello,
maybe this question is easy for all of you, anyway i've looked for some days and found very contradictory information.
Q: Does Insyde 5.0 UEFI bios have also a (hidden) Legacy/CSM mode working or is UEFI only?
Q2: UEFI should be able to boot also from MBR when no EFI reference is found on the HDD. True?

Thanks for any clarification.

Can custom UEFI mount a disk? (ramdisk discussion)

I dont know how much capability you can really build into a bios or uefi... so i thought i would get the opinions from those that know more than I.

I think the best way to ask my question is to tell you what method i would like to use, and then you folks might can tell me what is , or is not possible.

machine: xeon 1650-3 workstation, 256gb ram, quadro gpu, 145gb operating system file size

step 1: create fully functioning workstation with all installed files, updates, antivirus, etc.

step 2:  shut down pc (fully)

step 3:  reboot machine
----------Bios will prompt a dual boot scenario
---------------- Boot 1)   Standard windows 10 install
---------------- Boot 2)  Ramdisk Version of install

Step 4: Select  boot 2

------------Bios will then proceed to boot the pc.. it will recognize and initialize all components.  Next (and before it loads the operating system,) the bios will allocate a ramdisk of 160GB.  afterwards, the bios will execute a command to move the complete and full contents of the normal C: drive, to the ram disk.

------------Machine boots as normal into the ramdisk, that now functions just as if your normal drive does. the "normal drive"  is isolated and is not usable, (actually its partitioned so part of it should be usable)

Use machine, save work on NAS,  shut down when finished.. no reverse sync needed (yet)

ignoring the volatility.  i WANT the volatility.  when i shut down, it will not make any changes to the files on the normal drive. so any viruses,  accidental changes to the file system, etc.. will be void.     if i need to update or install new software I would use boot option 1, make my changes, and then move back to boot option 2.

Is this possible to do with the bios, or am I stuck using a hypervisor, or initial linux boot to accomplish this?

I have looked at PXE and winPE and they dont seem to be capable of doing this to the level of a entire windows 10 pc. they would be limited - in other words - in what they can actually do. While winPE booting to ramdisk is possible, and also breaks any handles associated with it, the method of installing programs, and making it functional its far more outside my relm of experience and in my opinion would be to much of a challenge. I am aware that several versions of linux use "initrd" and "initramfs" to run their entire os contents on ram (indistinguishably) and thats what i am trying to accomplish with windows 10.

any help in this is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I've been trying to figure out how to manually look into or change some settings into this BIOS for quite a while (days). Having it completely unlocked would be ideal, but I doubt that is possible. My issue is that my bios does not see my M.2 SSD, and I've concluded that it is a BIOS setting that is hidden (I've checked all other hardware compatibility possibilities), but I am unable to actually find out what's in there. This is the most limited BIOS I have ever come across! Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

HP Envy M7-n109dx
InsydeH2O BIOS Rev. 5.0
Filename: sp73896.exe <---Link
Version: F.24 Rev.A

I also dumped my BIOS to a .fd file with the Linux DD utility if that would be of help.

I have an HP Pavilion Notebook - 17-f121ds that has a locked BIOS that has a whitelist for the wifi adapters that can be installed inside the computer.

I *think* I need a modded BIOS so that I can bypass this lock and use my Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 network adapter.

But I've never done this before, so...

Here are a couple of BIOS backups from "BACKUP_Tools14a" and "Universal Bios Backup" :

And here's the latest version of my BIOS from HP.com:

Hello,

i'm new here and i have one problem with this mobo. I bought pentium G3258 (unlocked) and Asrock H81M-HDS R2.0 which came with latest bios (p1.30). And of course i bought G3258 because of OC and latest bios removed option of OC on this mobo.
I wanted to downgrade but it does not work. I read on internet that asrock forbade downgrading.

Can you guys maybe help me with this problem?

Here is link of mobo: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H81M-HDS%20R2.0/

SATA Operation ROM

Good evening BM..it's been a while since I've been on this site..(BTW..i remedied my past issues with my Gateway GM5866E RAID)..I have a brand new issue..(rather 2 issues)..I have the same issue with both my Gateway GT5026E & my Dell Inspiron Mini 1010. They BOTH don't have a SATA option. The Gateway only has ENHANCED & LEGACY. The Dell has NO SATA option at all..The most recent BIOS from Gateway is the NT94510J.15A.0109. The Dell's latest BIOS is the A11 (Tirga). The ironic thing is that i have another GT5026E with a different mobo. That model no# is NT94510J.15A.0099. That one has the options & works perfectly. I can't do a backup because the PC is riddled with viruses, therefore i can't make a copy. So if anyone out there can just add the SATA options to them, i'd be most grateful. Again, my problem is there is no way to use AHCI (which is murder if you have an SSD) or RAID. Thank you all in advance & i hope to hear from someone soon. Peace..& God bless you & yours..

Hp 2000 2d19wm wireless adapter whitelist sp65847.exe

Hey guys, i would first like to say this is a pretty cool website...
I would like to upgrade my half mini pcie wireless adapter, Atheros AR5B125 a hunk of junk lol. It doesnt cut it anymore with out the newer ac frequency.

- Manufacturer: HP
- Model:  2000 2d19wm
- WLAN: Atheros AR5B125
- Bios revision: F.30
- Bios Type: UEFI
- Bios Download Link:
Made by Hp System Bios Update Utility, couldn't find the download file for the exe
 https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0...sp=sharing

Made by the Universal Bios Backup
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwY7P-dascQmUkFTNmZxTjdSMEU/view?usp=sharing

and then the newer Bios version F.45
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp65501-66000/sp65847.exe

I really hope that someone will be able to get rid of this stupid white list bs. and i know asking for two things at once is against policy, but the new card that i get will more than likely have Bluetooth in it, and well it is wireless and while you are in the same area, lol probably not. If needed i will make a different thread elsewhere in the appropriate location.
Yes i am aware of the risks of installing a new bios and i am willing to take the risk, i do have a back up also.

Dell Dimension E520 overclock success

I know there have been many requests to unlock a Dell BIOS, and I don't think it's ever happened. I just want to share an overclock success I've had without a BIOS mod. So it may seem a little bit OT, but then again maybe not to the people who look here and can't get a BIOS mod. I've got my E520 running at 3.72Ghz QX6800SLACP. I've had it to 3.99Ghz. momentarily. http://valid.x86.fr/l2j5p1
I used Throttlestop software which with a Core2Extreme  gave me control over voltage and multiplier. I posted a tutorial "Overclocking Dell BTX Computers" at Tomshardware if anyone is interested. http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-28973...uters.html
That's all I have to say except I really appreciate the hard work that's being done here.

Good Evening,

Any help you can provide to help me upgrade my WLAN would be greatly appreciated (info below).

I posted this before Christmas & BDMaster directed me here:

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-U...7#pid57787

http://www.mediafire.com/download/6yd31i...p55299.zip

The flash worked, but it only enables the Advanced menu in the BIOS. I'm not seeing anything in there to disable the WLAN whitelist. I still get the whitelist error at startup. Am I missing something?

Thanks
John
