How to flash with a dumped BIOS file?!

Hei there :-)
I have dumped the BIOS from my friends pc(MSI Cubi) and want to downgrade my MSI Cubi since I cant find the 1.20 version on the net. I used Afudos with the command "afudos mybios.rom /O" but the file I get is only 6 mb, the files on MSI site for the other versions is 8 mb. When I try to make a usb stick with the dumped BIOS i get an error that the dumped BIOS is not valid. What am I doing wrong here?

Problem(Intel management...) with updated BIOS on MSI Cubi

Updated the BIOS on my MSI Cubi. But the ME(Intel Management) went from versionnumber 10.0.30.1072 to N/A in the updated BIOS. And this gives me problems in W10, long boottimes and error in devicemanager. All was ok with the default BIOS(1.20), but that one is not listed at MSI site Sad

MSI uses these commands when updating the BIOS: afudos EB096IMS.850 /p /b /n /r /x /shutdown

Here on "BIOS-mods" I find these commands: afudos bios.rom /P /B /N /C /E /K /Q /REBOOT

Will that make a difference with the flashing?

I have also tested with MSI Forum HQ USB flashing tool

Help with recovering from a bad BIOS flash

Hey guys,

I bought a Thinkpad T530 motherboard, set its EEPROM model number to 2359-4DU (Hardware Diskette), and it worked great. Then, I got the bright idea of flashing to a newer BIOS and bricked it. The flash went through, but now it won't even POST.

My BIOS EEPROM chip is Winbond 25q64fv, and the memory chip is Mxic mx25l3206e.

I'm currently trying a bios-repair USB drive using WINCRIS, no luck so far. I extracted a $01D5100.FL1 file from here: http://tinyurl.com/oycfue9, flashed the USB key (renamed the .fl1 file to bios.wph, formatted USB key as fat16, ran winchris.exe), no luck with any of the win+b, fn+b, fn+r, ctrl+b, ctrl+r combos.

My question is: how come my .FL1 file is 8,388,688 bytes, shouldn't it be 8,388,608 bytes? I tried running Phoenix Tool v2.58, it's telling me that I have an "EFI / Insyde BIOS", and inside the "Structure", there's an 80-byte padding before "File Volume {7A93...}". Using HxD, the top of the file has some sort of data (not 0xFF or 0x00), and that doesn't look like padding to me.

I'm also considering buying an EEPROM flasher - do you guys think it might help?

I don't want to modify my BIOS, just flash any old working one back. Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

having problems with LGA771 server platform. I have following sets of CPUs:

2x Xeon X5460
2x Xeon X5420
2x Xeon X5355

all of that CPUs supports execute disable bit and thermal monitoring, and for CPU X5460 that options shows up in Advanced Processor Options, but not for X5460 and E5420. I can't enable it, so i can't use fully some software. I made an attempt to update microcode, even after that, that options not available for 54xx CPUs.

In attached ZIP 238MS720.WPH is original bios from MSI, 238MS721.WPH - with updated microcode.

Dell Studio 1558 BIOS problem

Dear all,
I have a problem and a moderately long story to go with it.
First off I got a malware/Trojan/virus/rootkit/............... that I could not get rid of even after trying multiple anti-virus rescue discs.
Even after wiping both my internal hard drives (SSHD and HDD) clean with random deletion, problem persisted in bios.
Now I must mention that I got blue screen in my original Win7 OS and after failing a few times it would not boot. Even Ubuntu failed to boot properly under these circumstances.
BIOS for some reason can not load the laptop screen and I am left with a blank default monitor. Connecting to external monitor lets me work perfectly for hours until I start a movie, at which point system fails with blue screen. Graphics is ATI Radeon 5470 HD moblie.
Even the DELL BIOS boot screen gets an overlay showing ASCII code in green. Now even that is gone and the screen remains completely black at all times.

I am absolutely sure nothing is wrong with the screen since I can complete the Power Button + D test (basic display diagnostic) everytime without any glitches. But running the 32bit diagnostic from within BIOS says EEPROM-EDID status failed which is my default display system. Plus there is the overlay which recedes for a few reboots when I use the Dr.Web Rescue iso.
Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

Now I tried to flash BIOS but I am afraid something may go wrong so please suggest.
Help.
Thanks,
Antarix

Send IP from bios ?

Hi all ,
i just lost my laptop. unfortunately , I set the password for my OS and the theft can not open the windows.
If the theft can open , i can know the WAN IP address of theft. therefore , the police can know who hire this IP and can find my laptop.
this is a reason that it is posible ? to mod the bios that automatically send the lastest IP to a server and we can check it anytime.
anyone have idea about that ?

Hi,
I know this is an old laptop and there have been several request for a modded bios.  However, I checked the forums for a modded Bios, but was unable to retrieve any files.  Can you please mod the bios for this laptop and post the file.  The Lenovo Laptop is T420, Type: 4235-EC4.

Also, a quick question.  I tried to flash the bios from windows 10 with a files I downloaded from a differtent site.  However, it said that no update was required and did not flash the bios.  I checked in the modified bios folder and I could not see a bios file there.  Please send the instructions on how to flash the modded bios if the bios update tool does not update the bios.  Thanks in advance.

Hi!

I've got the above Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E545 (AMD) laptop, and a new Intel AC-7260 that I want to fit to it, but naturally I've been caught out by the whitelist.

Current WLAN card is the Broadcom BCM4365 802.11 Hybrid Wireless Controller, reads as vendor 14E4, device 4365.

I believe this BIOS is shared with the E535, looking at the Lenovo site.

Manufacturer BIOS download is here HRET24WW.

Dell 760 slic 2.1 request

I know that some dell 760s came with 2.0 and some came with 2.1 slics.  I have a dell restore disk for windows 7 32 bit that installs and activates on slic 2.1 tables.  I found a slic 2.1 bios for the dell 755 on this site.  Previously I had installed windows 7, and it did not ask for a key.  After a week or so, it
gave me an illegal copy message.  After much hunting, I found the 755 slic 2.1 bios, downloaded and installed it, and everything works.

I have one dell 760 with a known 2.0 slic table, and another one that I recently purchased, but have not fired up yet.  It has Vista on it, which I
detest.

I am looking for a slic 2.1 modded bios for the dell 760, so I can install the dell restore windows 7 disk on it.

As a matter of fact, I have a large number of older delld.. 745, 755 and 760's.  I have two 760's that had a non dell windows 7 installed, along with a number of other high end graphics programs.  I purchased this off ebay. Just for giggles and grins, I cloned the disk and stuck it into a 760 small form factor and it works perfectly.  I have tried the same disk in a 755 and a 760 and in both cases they do a hard reboot, just after the pulsing windows section of the boot.

People say  Hal problem, but I have installed the dell oem disk on the 755 and the hal is the same as the one on the 760.  I have no idea why this package worked on a 760 small form factor, and not on a second 760 full sized.  I am guessing it is maybe a bios issue.

I probably will be buying a 780 fairly soon, so may be looking for a 2.1 slic modified bios for it.

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/1...erId=7GK0W   the link for the 760 bios

Whether or not the "new" 760 has a slic 2.1 already in it, I have at least two that do not (I have run a utility that identifies the bios slic table on them), (not RWE, some other one).
