Lenovo U410 Touch BIOS re-flash (bricked)

Hi all,

After doing a clean Windows 10 install, the laptop wouldn't go into BIOS, nor boot menu. If I pressed the Novo button on the side, I'd get the blue menu to select BIOS or Boot Order, but whatever option I select would boot straight into Windows.

So I decided to open the laptop and unplug/plug the CMOS battery to clear the BIOS (so it would ask for the date/time). After turning the computer back on, the only thing I'd get is a black screen, no Lenovo logo, nothing. If I turn it on via the Novo button, it will show the menu for BIOS or Boot Order, but after selecting an option a black screen appears.

I wanted to know if there is a way to re-flash the BIOS via USB on this laptop. There is no BIOS for the U410 Touch in Lenovo's website, and the one for the U410 is an .exe file which I can't use because I can't get into Windows.

Is there any way to recover this BIOS? I've read there is a Fn+R command to flash from USB, but I would need the actual firmware which isn't available anywhere.

Hello Bios Mods.

After a lot of web browsing and searching various sites I've come by this one, and it looks most promising regarding the issue I have.


I own an ASUS K52Jc laptop, which came with a 32-bit version of Windows 7, but had 6GB of RAM inside. For that reason, I reinstalled my windows and now use a 64-bit version to make the most out of the RAM it has.

The issue is, however, the same ram plate which worked prior to me installing the new windows now prevents the computer from booting up, even though BIOS reads the plate as there. It's the 4GB one too, so I'm now stuck with 2GB until I can solve this.

I am fairly certain the issue is in the frequencies the two plates work at, as I assume they're not the same, but the BIOS on K52Jc does not have any clocking settings whatsoever due to warranty issues.

Given my warranty expired a while ago, I'm trying to find a BIOS mod which would allow me to clock certain hardware such as my RAM to adjust their working frequencies.

If anyone could point me in the right direction or help me out on how to obtain a BIOS mod allowing it for ASUS K52Jc I'd be very thankful.

Hey!

I want to add a FIDO U2F Security Key to the Mini PCIe port of my X230.

See the image below, where the blue frame is a USB-hub attached to the Mini PCIe - which works out of box!

But when i insert the FIDO U2F Security Key, its shows me a 1802 error.

So please help me out to fix this issue - would be awesome!

or

Donovan's 55068 version?

I see an Insyde tool inside the zip folder, do I just run this as administrator and point to the included .bin file?
