[Request/Info] Dell Inspiron D620 (Vostro 260) AMI EFI Bios Unlock UEFI

I'm going to attempt this in a TL;DR manner.

This system (Sandy Bridge, i Core based, Aptio IV EFI bios) comes with AHCI disabled. Years I've patched bios as others have, now AHCI/OS X work great.... Dell even knows the system works with OS X86.

Now I have two potential goals (besides the 3rd being finding a recovery w/out unsoldering bios chip, I probably will buy a UEFI capable mainboard that works with Ozmosis/OS X86 but am considering buying a spare for this system... it looks fully capable of!)

1) Booting Windows UEFI (Windows 10 feels like it's booting UEFI mode of sorts, but states bios legacy- it went from 20+ sec boot time to 8~ randomly)

2) Booting OS X Clover Bootloader UEFI (Currently legacy only due to no UEFI boot options exposed by dell)

3) Installing Ozmosis (for booting OS X more native) into the UEFI aptio firmware.... (Last goal)

I've used MMTool, UEFITool, etc and I see that the Dell "Diagnostics" in F12 (Need to reboot to windows and get .efi filename and other logs)

I can't see "How" Dell is disabling UEFI booting of sorts (menus removed/disabled, etc) in Aptio tool I enabled AHCI for years, I see almost "no" EFI mentioning except in the "bios strings"  I see sorts of

"boot from UEFI USB , etc" mentioned, but that is probably "text" strings of sorts, seems ot contain EVERY bit of text the bios can display so may just be left over from when dell modified.

I'll post the bios files of sorts and info. I enable poll for my main question...

Hello,

I've took the current bios from EFI. I dumped the DVMT value from it, but when setting the variable from EFI shell (0x18C at value 0x3), it says it isn't found. My motherboard is HP 8093 revision 89.22 and the bios is Insyde F.40 version. Can someone unlock it, at least the DVMT or the full setup? It is RSA signed, but I've got the unsigned one and for the rest I'll be OK. BIOS attached

Thanks

Hello everybody, for long time I  have been looking for information how to unlock the BIOS of my notebook, the eMachines D525, but without success ... Sad

However, I found some interesting information about your hardware and all of yours internal components, which theoretically if I had any in-depth knowledge of the structure of a BIOS, I probably could unlock it.

And that's why I'm asking for your help, always I thought it might with an unlocked BIOS I would take advantage of 100% of what your hardware can offer in terms of absolute performance, however, with her locked I have not found any means that would allow me change voltages, frequencies, multipliers, FSB, thermal control, and several other options that I believe should be made available to consumers as a way to avoid programmed obsolescence, the waste of resources and of course the fun be able to run a heavy game on a PC manufactured in 2009 Smile

Help - HP A600Y

HP
A600Y
MSI MS-6577 V4.1
Intel Celeron 2.6ghz 128KB upgraded to Intel P4 3.0ghz 1MB Prescott
2GB Micron PC3200

I need some help.
I understand this system is a dino but I am trying to salvage it until next year.
The system was becoming almost unusable with the original oem provided specifications.

I upgraded the processor to an Intel P4 3.0ghz Prescott 1MB.
I upgraded the memory to 2GB PC3200 from Micron.

The CPU is identified as a 3.0GHZ capable processor but only runs at 1.5GHZ.
There are no multiplier or frequency settings accessible or changeable in the last version of the bios which is 3.26.

I'm under the impression that if I could change the multiplier I could get the processor to register at a higher clock speed.
Right now the pentium isn't much better than the celeron because of the restricted clock speed.

I completed a very minimal install with nlite for Windows XP SP3.
The system runs reasonably well until you install any of the modern and more flagship browsers.
Google Chrome runs especially slow.
Too bad I couldn't run IE11 in the xp environment.

There is a sliced bios for this board posted in a thread here and I tried to modify it with modbin.
However, it looks like most of the advanced options are already enabled when I load the sliced rom.

I'm not sure any of the hidden options would allow access to the settings I would need to change.
My goal was to speed up this system to a more tolerable level.
The extra memory helps but the pentium would have provided a joint benefit if running at higher clock speeds.

Any suggestions other than throw the machine out and burn it to ashes?

wireless module not supported

Hey there,

I've got an HP G4T-1100 CTO that I got a new wireless card for. The BIOS now gives the lovely 702 Wireless module not supported error. I've been trying to mod it myself but it just doesn't want to accept it. I used Andy's Tool to find the instruction that I believe to be causing the infinite loop (as described here http://donovan6000.blogspot.com/2013/06/...lists.html) and have changed it to a nop, and then imported the module back into Andy's Tool. However, the Insyde Flashing tool says the BIOS can't support the downgrade, even with all checks disabled. (I was able to downgrade from F66 to F64 though).

Here's the backup of my bios from one of the tools you guys use a lot: http://apetrunk.ddns.net:8000/Insyde-F.64.rom

It's a 1666 F64 currently, but the newest version is F66. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Help with Acer Bios Variables

I am new to BIOS modding so please bear with me. I have used Andys tool to dump my bios. I have also used Module Helper and Universal IFR Extractor. From what I see, I need to change variable 0x12 and 0x11 to add the advanced menu to my BIOS. I don't know how to change the variable with a hex-editor. I have looked and could not figure it out. So I used bootx64.efi. After booting I changed the values of 0x12 and 0x11 and it did not add anything to the BIOS menu. I have everything saved and can provide whatever information is requested to help me out on this. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Please help to fix GA-P35-DS3R

M/b Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R rev. 2.1
BIOS: http://download1.gigabyte.ru/bios/motherboard_bios_ga-p35-ds3r_f13.exe

The problem is described in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxdlOrpB5kg
Due to hardware failure the option to disable onboard LAN is hidden in the BIOS, but turned ON by default.
"Integrated Peripherals" - "Onboard H/W LAN" - Enable/Disable

The idea is to modify the BIOS to make this option visible (wich may also be done using hardware mod, as in video), or to permanently switch it off.
When the option is turned off  the motherboard works pretty well even with failed LAN.

Would local gurus help please?

HI there

I'm doing my first phoenix bios mod and I think I am getting all the ducks in a row I believe I have everything I need to mod the bios.

I have flashed the latest bios to the motherboard bios to update the boot block and I'm using that bios to mod with and I have a rweverything report

I wish to embed a slic 2.1 key into the bios.

I get a message from the phoenix tool that I did not expect when modding the bios that I have never seen before with:

Code:
Full SLIC table (Reversed) found in BIOSCOD01.ROM at EAD3
OEM/Table IDs identified are:
1. TOSINVTOSINV00
2. TOSINVCALISTGA
3. INTEL CALISTGA
4. PTLTD CALISTGA
Complete SLIC (2.0) (TOSINVTOSINV00     INV) in BIOSCOD01.ROM (x1)

should I use the ssv2 or dynamic method for my Toshiba branded laptop?

Below is my bios file and a rweverything report:

.rom   S10GM600.ROM (Size: 1 MB / Downloads: 1)
.rar   AcpiTbls.rar (Size: 63.02 KB / Downloads: 3)

I found a similar thread here but for a different model of laptop with a similar motherboard that uses the same bios but it looks like they gave up or did not post there success on this laptop.

Xytrex/Netapp Storage System with Phoenix TrustedCore BIOS

Hi Everyone,

I have a storage server thats used by alot of different storage vendors (Netapp, IBM etc).

I'd like to edit some DMI info, but all the DMI data seems to be read-only.  I'm guessing its locked in BIOS, hence my request here.  Several utilities will view the DMI info, such as DMIEDIT etc, but the fields are all grey'd out or give an error on write.

Specifically, the fields I'd like to unlock are the "System Serial Number", "System Product Name", "System SKU number" and "BaseBoard Product".

I used the universal bios extractor on the current BIOS and it is attached.

Thanks!

strange behavior if HDMI monitor plugged

The machine is an Asus x301a with hd4000 graphics, the bios is msr unlocked and advanced menu unlocked.
I am using the machine for hackintosh

This is what happens if I plug the external monitor and boot:

The PC posts to external monitor, then after DSMOS arrives and framebuffers are initialized the internal screen lights up but no image is shown, image only in the external monitor
This is what happens if I plug the external HDMI after post at clover menu or even when the system is loaded.

https://youtu.be/mbCwRfDsDLI
internal already lit and image is shown after DSMOS and framebuffer initialization.

Setting primary display to IGFX in bios doesn't change behavior.

Is there a way to mod the bios to tell the machine to show the internal screen at boot instead of the external one?

Hello everybody.
I purchased an Intel 7260HWM to find out that the adapter is not whitelisted in my BIOS (the 702 code shows up).
I searched this forum but there is nothing about my laptop model (see below) and honestly I don't know which other HP laptops are equivalent BIOS-wisely... The problem is that from the HP website it is not possible to download drivers/updates so I connot figure out the SPxxxxx code... What can I do?

I appreciate your comprehension and the time you'll devote to my case.
Bye, Luca.

New here! Been lurking for a few days.

I'm trying to swap the original Realtek 8191SE Wi-Fi card with an Intel Centrino 6230 on an L555D-S7005. The laptop will boot, but I cannot enable the Wi-Fi card itself.
The Intel card has Bluetooth, while the original Realtek card does not, which is why I suspect Bluetooth works on the Intel card without being affected by any Wi-Fi whitelisting.

I'm not exactly sure what corresponds to the PCI ID so I've included the 4 lines of text that appear in the "Hardware Ids" section for the Realtek card:

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8172&SUBSYS_818110EC&REV_10
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8172&SUBSYS_818110EC
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8172&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8172&CC_0280

The link to the BIOS can be found here:
http://support.toshiba.com/support/viewC...Id=2579305

The filename is: slxjv120.exe

I appreciate your help!

welcome I come to such a question

whether it is possible to sufficiently modify the BIOS to change the minimum value of the VID for less? the point is that I have another processor (Xeon) however it requires a minimum voltage 0.6500v a plate gives 0.8500v [ P7H55-M PRO ] [ Xeon x3450 ]

Thanx!
