Dear Forum Users,
First of all
I wish to thank you all for tutorials, guides and precious info contained in this pages.
I’m the
unlucky owner of an
HP G62b-17EL laptop with a
broken WiFI Module who had the
“very bad idea” of buying a substitute part hoping to repair it.
Unfortunately
after spending 2 days on the subject with every penny of knowledge I can use and
learn I ended up with a dead end and the famigerate
“Unsupported Hardware” error.
I have tried, I swear,
reading and documenting on the
tools used to
whitelist WiFI Adapter for my
F.23 Insyde Bios but to no avail:
it seems that It is easier for me to operate on a Cardiac Shut-Off (I’m a surgeon, btw
) than solving this fastidious issue.
I know I could simply buy an USB WiFi adapter to solve the issue but, being a physician,
it really bothers me knowing exactly what and where the problem is and not being able to solve it but instead being only able to ignore it.
Hence,
I hope that someone far more expert than me could help me whitelisting this BIOS: below are all the details needed.
Laptop: HP
Model: G62
Extended Serial: G62b-17EL
BIOS: Insyde
Version: F.23 Rev. A
Official Download Link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50001-50500/sp50229.exe
Testing Note:
“Googling around” on this awesome forum
I found a reference to a
modified sp50229.exe, which should enable the
“BIOS Hidden Menu” on G26b series but once installed the BIOS results a sort of “ghost town”: laptop boots correctly and enters also BIOS
but no option nor menu is visible. Just a
grey background with three initial commands that did not lead anywhere.
