Asus P5B-VM SE

Hello,

I'm on a fairly older model of motherboard, I believe the P5B-VM SE came out around 2007, but with quite the highest end CPU, RAM, and graphics on it I'm unlikely to change it anytime soon as it's good to go another 5 years. I have an SSD on the system too, and it is not getting max performance(score 7.0) due to lack of AHCI support in the BIOS. The option doesn't exist. I've noted however that it uses an ICH8 chipset so it may be possible to put AHCI on it with the right BIOS mod.

Motherboard link: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5BVM_SE/

Latest BIOS link: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5B-VM%20SE/P5B-VM-ASUS-SE-1101.zip

If it is possible to guide me through the process of doing so, I am tech savvy enough to use editing tools or such in order to do it.

Thank you.

Modded dv6-7213NR BIOS or Advanced Menu?

$

I read on the forums about the advanced menu in the BIOS by pressing F10 + A while booting but it still showed the Standard BIOS menu. The only reason I'm looking for a BIOS mod or something is because the specs sheet reads this on the CPU info

2.5GHz up to 3.0GHz AMD Dual-Core A4-4300M Accelerated Processor

So, I'm thinking the bios has my cpu locked at 2.50 GHz and a Modded BIOS is the only way, I'll control it.
Any mods for my certain type of laptop?

my Laptop specs are:

BIOS Ver: InsydeH20 Rev 3.7
BIOS Update: F.25
Motherboard: dv6-7213NR

Hey all,

I bought one of these little guys for a very specific purpose. I figured I could install the hardware driver I needed and run the program I need on the stock WES7 image, but it turned out to be so much more of a headache than I bargained for. I also tried the WES2009 image and ran into similar issues (it was mainly about a very small amount of free space on the DOM and permissions). In a last ditch effort before smashing it into the wall, I stripped an XPSP3 install as small as I could get it with nLite.. Now it works beautifully. However it appears the BIOS on these things have no SLIC table at all (first time I've run into this). So would someone be so kind as to insert one for me? I don't know if it takes more work to do newer ones, but as of right now it is running XP so I'd just need a 1.0. If the 2's can be installed without expending extra effort, those would be appreciated too.

The only thing is, Dell does not supply a regular self-extracting BIOS for this unit like they do with others. They have this tool from DevonIT, which creates a bootable Linux USB stick - and that's how you are supposed to flash the BIOS and put WES images on the DOM. Once you create the stick, it contains an image of the A02 update for this unit. I have also included a dump from the universal tool and the RW results.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everybody. Blush I'm trying to install Win 8.1 on my old Aspire 9800 and it falls on booting from CD with black screen, but Win 7 boots normaly. So I wanted to ask if there is any way to update / mod my bios ? And I don't know why, but Acer decided to hide AHCI mode enabling in this bios. Is it possible to enable this function ?

Gigabyte GA-M61PM-S2 for AMD Phenom II X6 1055T

Hello,

I am using a Gigabyte GA-M61PM-S2 Rev. 1.0 with BIOS F9D and a Phenom X4 945 (95W).

Now I bought a Phenom II X6 1055T (95W) to give my rig the latest upgrade possible.

Donor is Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2P with the same chipset [although the µCs are different: ITE IT8716 vs. IT8718], the latest firmware F7B supports AMD 6core CPU (update CPU AGESA 3.7.0.0).

I've transfered the AGESA 3.7.0.0 to the F9D, but I was not successful with the NCPUCODE.BIN, I used CBROM_155.exe, which someone recommended for Gigabyte BIOS.

I would be pleased, if someone with much more knowledge and experience could extract the AGESA and the NCPUCODE from the donor BIOS and swap it with the outdated parts from the F9D-BIOS.

Kindly Regards.

Please forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong place.

I have an HP Touchsmart 320 with bios version 7.15 (AN2_715.ROM). I am trying to change SATA emulation between AHCI, RAID, IDE. The BIOS only lets me select AHCI. I am hoping someone can help my cause here or unlock all the options I should be able to tweak. I have tried the AMIBCP tool but it will not open the ROM file.

Attached is the rom file. Major kudos to anyone that can help and thanks in advance!

Hi! I was wondering if I could get some help with the whitelist for sp55375. There are two versions in the repository but both brick my laptop (dv7-c600). If I understand correctly, this is the only bios for my notebook that's not RSA signed and hopefully can be modified. Can anyone help? Have the modified bios's in the repository worked for anyone?

Thank you!!!!

Who makes Dell BIOS?

I've run CPUID and it just simply says Dell Inc for BIOS. I'm interested in the OptiPlex and Latitude line. I've read the older D830 are Phoenix and Phoenix is Award, im so confused. I see tools for Phoenix AND Award! So if I want to mod a Dell BIOS ROM for an D830 what utility do I use? I've be reading posts for hours and the more I read the more confused I've become. Id like to get into moding the bios myself rather than wait for someone who has edited it. Thanks in advanced for any help!

Hello,

I've been playing around by following this blog's tutorials about modding an Insyde BIOS, but it seems that I lack the skills to make it through. Donovan6000's blog

I would like to have a modded UEFI-BIOS for my laptop. I am looking to remove the whitelist restriction on Wi-Fi & WWAN cards.

This way I could use a newer Wi-Fi card like the Intel 7260AC and maybe be able to use an mSATA SSD in the mPCIE slot of the WWAN.

I would also enjoy having the advanced options into the Advanced menu if possible. I'd also like to see more information on the Main menu, if there are any available.

The advanced features that I'm missing are:

-Numlock state on boot
-SATA ports mode (AHCI/RAID) (this might be in the Main menu)
-USB3.0 ports mode (Smart Auto/force xHCI)
-USB charging while system is shutdown
-Fingerprint reader (Enable/Disable)
-Intel Smart Connect Technology
-Intel Rapid Start Technology
-Power supply warning/health check (if there are any)
-Function key behavior
-Wake on LAN (this might be in the Main menu)
-Integrated GPU memory size

The Main menu informations are:

-CPU model
-CPU serial number (if this can even be read, I have no clue)
-CPU frequency
-HDD model
-HDD serial number
-DVD model
-VBIOS version

Make: Sony
Model: SVS13A290S (Canadian version of the USA's SVS13A290X, only the keyboard layout is different)
BIOS version: R1021C8 link to ROM

Here is the result.rar file after executing FPTs.

Here are the current screenshots of my UEFI-BIOS:

Advanced menu

Exit menu

Thanks in advance,
Guizmo

Option addition wake timer , wake on lan

Hello Smile
I am new to BIOS Modding.
I have dell vostro 1000 laptop which have Phoenix BIOS.
Latest version is A06 v2.6.3
http://downloads.dell.com/bios/WinVost263.EXE

It came with a DOS CD so there is no SLIC (I hope I got that right Smile )

It's BIOS is very basic , with so little to tweak , not like the one I have seen in DELL Latitude D630 which had lots of options.

I needed to have WAKE UP timer with an option of hourly wake up to face power outage problem , to make it power on after power is restored.

Also a wake on LAN will be helpful .

I tried a program called AutoPowerOn with no luck .

I downloaded PhoenixBiosEditor2.2.13 from your website.
Manged to extract ROM file from exe file above. (WinVost263.EXE /writeromfile)

then opened it .

There was a lot of tables with DATA which I had no clue how to edit safely to get what I wanted .

Now I have a question , is what I am asking for is possible ?!

If the answer was yes , Then how to do it ?!

Thank you Smile
