[Request/Questions] Samsung NP770Z5E BIOS unlock and opinions

Hi. As you'll probably see I'm new to this.

I extracted the BIOS using aptio AFUDOS and then used AMIbcp to look at the settings to unlock.

These settings were of interest to me. The CPU throttles, but not thermally, and I'd like to fix it. I think it's because the 90W psu is not enough.

Do these settings do what I think they do? And will they be available when I just set acces/use to USER and reflash?

Under MAIN
- "Adapter input current". This is set to 4,740 A because 19V*4,740A = 90W. If we raise this, could this make sure we are taking advantage of a bigger PSU? I have a 120W psu.
- "hybrid power boost" This can make the laptop draw power from the adapter as well as the battery at the same time. This may enable the laptop to draw more than 90W without the need of a bigger PSU?
- Lots and lots of thermal trip points, fan speeds,...
- "intel speedstep" disabling this supposedly disables CPU throttling according to google ?
- "configurable TDP" very interesting, what can it do?

under ADVANCED
- "min cpu speed" maybe this can stop throttling?
- "memory frequency" RAM overclocking?

Thank you

hello,

i've got a this motherboard as per subject running with sempron 3000+, it suppose to be a little project to work with projector, but soon found it to be extremely slow... i misread the hp website showing narra3 to be able to support upto 95W cpu therefore bought phenom 8600, well as you can imagine it does not work, as my board is narra 00, and supports everything up to athlon 64 (89W)... well is there anyway i can mod the bios (or someone could do this for me) so it'll work with phenom cpu's?

If there is a bios that'll work with this mobo and phenom already that'll be even better, but reading for the last 2 hours and cannot find anything...

attached is the 5.13 bios .rom file that i have flashed onto the board today

There's ASUS K70ID with Intel T6600 (socket PGA478), chipset NVIDIA MCP79D (some specs). Need BIOS support for X9100.
Current AMI BIOS v. 205.

Here's some other BIOSes for different laptops that have X9100:
- Cleo M980NU on NVIDIA MCP79 chipset (couldn't find official site download) ;
- Toshiba Qosmio X300 (PQX31E) on Intel PM45 Express chipset;
- Dell Precision M4400 (2 versions of BIOS) on Intel PM45 Express chipset:
- A27
- A26

Thanks in advance. Rolleyes

Asus A8JR / Z99J - T7200 CPU - confirmed

Just to state that the Asus Z99J / A8JR laptop has the microcode for the T7200 CPU (from the A8JS) included in the BIOS. If you plug in this CPU, you get full 64-bit and virtualisation functions, a speed increase, as well as an FSB increase to 667 MHz (be careful - check your ram supports this - as the original FSB is 533 IIRC). You also get more cache.

If you want to put a different CPU into an A8JR, reply to this thread and I should check it within a few days (hopefully quite soon - I intend to be more active on these forums!).

Bios question.

Hello guys, Iam new to the bio world and maybe you can help me out answering this, I couldnt find a better subforum to post in.

A friend was updating their bios and immediately after the machine would not power on at all. Its a Dell n5010.
My question is, could a botched Bios upgrade cause for a no Led and No power?

Most of Bios issues Iam seeing do have Led lights on, with some beep error. But rarely do I see a full Brick wit no Power what so ever caused by a bios issue.

If it is the bios, and the machine has no power, is it possible to flash the bios with it on the motherboard while it has no power? Anything thru USB or special flashing gear?

Many thanks to the great moderators on here.

[Request] Asus A8JR BIOS - unlock hidden menu entries

$

Hi!

I have an A8JR, and need to get the BIOS menu to let me set the SATA to AHCI mode. I have checked all the BIOSes from ASUS, and none have that option.

The system is almost identical to the A8JS (in fact, it is identical now as I have upgraded the CPU to the one from my broken A8JS, and upgraded to a 1GB GPU card as well). The motherboard sped up to 667MHz FSB and everything works fine.

None of the Asus A8JS BIOSes have a menu entry for SATA / AHCI either.

Looking at the A8JR (and A8JS) BIOSes in AMIBCP, there is no menu entry to 'unlock' there; there are however two 'spacers' in a row, suggesting that something was deleted.

I found a thread on another forum where someone with an A8JS called Tech Support, and the A8JS they had in front of them had the SATA / AHCI option! (obviously they never released this to the public).

What has happened is: they made a BIOS with the SATA / AHCI config options (it uses the ICH7-M chipset so does support AHCI), but after compilation of the BIOS, they used the AMIBCP tool to delete the menu entries from the 'tree' for the IDE configuration and SATA configuration.

I would be really grateful for some help on getting these menu entries back!

(I did the test where you type:
setpci -s 00:1f.2 90.b=40 from a linux terminal (live USB), and the
register value changed from 02 (IIRC) to 40, and some extra stuff
came up when doing lspci -s 00:1f.2 -nnvvxxx) - so the hardware support is there, and the BIOS must have been compiled with the options in the menu, but then deleted from the BIOS menu (not the internal 'menu tree?' using AMIBCP by Asus before releasing the BIOS to the public.

Thanks for your help Smile

PS I attach the raw AMI BIOS from the ASUS site - I can mod the VGA option rom afterwards once I know the Menus for IDE and SATA config are reinserted!

PS This is a BIOS from the F8v - a very similar machine, and you can see, in AMIBCP,
the entry for SATA mode; the A8JR BIOS had this, but now has two 'Separators' one after the other - showing something was deleted from between them (in AMIBCP presumably!).

Flash mod Bios ( secure flash )

Hi there,

I modded the BIOS of my S430 to whitelist a specific Wifi Card.

Now I have the trouble that I cannot flash this modded Bios.

When I try FPTW64 it get Error 28: Protected Range Registers.
When I try FPT in DOS ( even with the prr tool ) I also get Error 28.
And When I try to snuck in my modded BIOS into the
vendors Flash utility it won't let me because it's not signed Sad

It's an UEFI Insyde Bios.

I modded the FL1 ones from the vendor and
the ROM one that I got from @sovem 's tool.

All I need to do is flash it, but how? Sad

edit: I am so silly, my first search didn't put up the thread so I made a new one
but Falseclock already asked that question, sorry :/

edit2: But he had a slightly different problem.

Xeon Gallatin MP (SL79Z, SL79V) in Dell Poweredge 1600SC

Hi everyone,
great forum here, just registered a few minutes ago.

I have a Dell Poweredge 1600SC, and would like to use it with Xeon Gallatin MP's, SL79Z, Stepping C0.
This works without problems, except one issue:

The BIOS displays "Warning! No microcode loaded for CPU", and expects the user to press F1 to proceed to boot.
It seems not possible to deactivate the F1 message like in other mainboards, so a start without a keyboard attached is not possible.

Is it possible to modify a BIOS with the appropriate microcode?
(else, automatically skipping/suppressing the F1 message would also be sufficient!)

If it is possible to include a second microcode, the SL79V would be perfect - but is not as important now.

The original Bios can be downloaded here:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/e...rid=R87575

For a possible donor Bios:
The board has the ServerWorks Grand Champion SL chipset.
I did not find a bios with this chipset featuring the SL79Z, but one with the Grand Champion HE - maybe this is simlar enough to help.
It is the PowerEdge 6650, the Bios is here:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/e...rId=R57300

Thanks a lot for your help!

can someone modding this bios plz
