Thought I would start here. This was a backup server sold by Seagate under the Mirra name that was a locked box--no keyboard access etc, with some other bios mods. I tried to follow this thread:

No floppy support; I did modify the hard drive per the above thread and was able to clear the bios password--but some features will still disabled, including the USB ports. Although I could get it to boot on the reformated HD, I could not run the awdflash software--it would come back with errors...

I burned a bootable CD (from Bootdisk), added the bios file and Awdflash--but could not get the AWD*exe to respond--even a simple query seemed to hang. I then tried the same procedure, using the maker's own updater

The bios update appeared to complete (using the Via updater, since I could not get the Award version to find the bios), but on reboot I saw this message once:

Found CDROM, try to Boot from it…

Since that message (and I tried to put the CD I booted from back in)--I get a series of beeps (three?) and a double tone (sort of a oh-oh that goes down a tone). Tried reclearing the CMOS but nothing...

Any ideas about recovery?

I didn't know which forum to post this in so I tried here. I gave someone a laptop and someone else put passwords everywhere. I got rid of the bios passwords, and can remove the Windows password when I get to that point, but the HDD still has one. I read the bios searches for the HDD password. Can the request from bios to search for the password be removed? I plan to do this so she can keep her files, then reflash with stock so the option to password will still be there.

Hello guys,

I would like to unlock the BIOS on a Sony Vaio VGN-NR21E. BIOS Agent reports that there is a update, but I'm not able to find it in the web. There are some restrictions which I'm trying to bypass. By example the limit for RAM (2GB). Furthermore I'd like to activate the instruction set for 64-bit. It seems that this was locked by Sony.

Save me from "smart" firmware!

I change non-boot hard drives in my two main computers a lot, but I almost never want to change the boot order. Yet, the BIOS on both machines always ever so "helpfully" automatically changes the boot order totally on it's own and always against my will!

This "smart" firmware code is driving me insane! Every time I boot/reboot, if I've inserted, removed, or exchanged any hard drives (a very common thing for me), this auto-idiot forces me to enter the BIOS screen and manually change the boot order back to what it's supposed to be, and then it has to reboot again to fix it's error.

This is a problem on those computers which briefly shut down and resets the power upon every boot. All those thousands of unnecessary power cycles must take a big, useless toll on all the components over time.

What I'd like are BIOS mods for these two mobos...

(1): Asus P5WDG2 WS Pro, AMI BIOS rev 1001 (not available on ASUS sites, but I've attached it to this post:
  P5WDG2-WS-ASUS-PRO-1001.zip (Size: 787.36 KB / Downloads: 2) )

(2): Asus Z87-A, UEFI AMI BIOS rev 2103 (BIOS downloadable here: Z87-A Dowloads/)

This seems to me to be relatively easy, but although I've coded firmware in the past, I've never worked with any modern BIOS, so what do I know?

How about it - is this possible? Should I post the request elsewhere? If so, please advise.

Hello friends I need the files to update my bios InsydeH20.
Check the data with the "Bios Backup Toolkit V2.0" tool and as a result I get: Type: Insyde BIOS / ACPI 2.0 Vendor: Insyde Version: F.10 size 2048K Date: 02/23/2011, check with everest and I Compal model gives NBLBX.

Hi,

Trying to enable AHCI on my Toughbook but without result.
I do the following...
Capture current bios using the AMI Aptio tool. Open captured image with AMIBCP and navigate to Debug -> SATA Configuration. In this section there is a 2 columns called Failsafe and Optimal. In bios have no option to select which one but anyway .. I try to change all options to AHCI and to enable all of the ports and a lot of other scenarios but still have no success.
Is there anybody who is most familiar with BIOS Modification just to give me some advice how to enable force the AHCI instruction.

The chipset I am sure support the AHCI it is ICH9-M

Using Phoenixtool258 it says its an EFI / Insyde bios

I have updated fine with the default bios package, but when I try to mod the bios it says Insufficient space to manipulate modules, but I got a success after trying slpsupport.mod instead of slpsupport2.mod

Using the 'successful' mod I cannot replace bios.bin with a renamed bios
-slic.bin to bios.bin and then use 7zip to replace it in the cpuevo it errors out saying the bios cannot be extracted it may be corrupted (in dos mode)
