Hi there, I was wondering if someone could unlock an advanced options menu in the bios? It is an Asus computer of course and im able to software OC my GPU so I suspect there may be some hidden overclocking options (or related things) onboard. Could someone unlock these, please? Blush

Here is a link to the driver page.
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SL...&p=3&os=29

Go to bios, then at Bios version 214 click "global" to direct-download the file. I can provide pictures of the bios as it stands if someone needs me to. =) Thank you very much for your time!

Hi,

could you please remove the whitelist from 1.37 bios?

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj17us.exe

I will report back if it works with the Atheros AR9280 AR5BHB92 card.

Can you also please tell me how to flash this without using windows?
As a linux user, I would normally consider flashing with the lenovo boot cd, but this wont work with the modded bios.

I have completed a menu-options unlock for the bios of the Asus K52Jr. Use at your own risk. Not everything is unlocked yet, I will release a later revision with everything else unlocked. Advanced options menu has most features enabled now, and thermal options are now visible and changeable.

[Request] LG/Xnote E200/E300 Phoenix menu unlock

Hi! If anyone care to look into this, I have interesting bios which needs unlocking.
In latest BIOS for LG/XNOTE E300-A (and also for E200) there is lots of stuff under EVALUATION.
Enabling SATA Class ID menu for ACHI/IDE setting would be very needed. All unlockable or re-enableable settings would be cool. They are probably settings settable only by manufacturer (may damage system or brick it), but if person is able to use Hex editor to view stuff inside BIOS image, he/she probably knows also what should not be touched inside bios. I'm asking if somebody who knows better how to unlock these would do it, or check if it would even work before I start to poke around and flash my own edits (Unsoldering and manually flashing chip is not nice at all).

Is it possible to mod the BIOS on my ASUS Rampage II Gene for better fan control?

$

Hi Smile

This looks like the right place to ask this question...

I have this neat ASUS ROG Rampage II Gene-based desktop machine, which I've added a massive 1.6A CPU fan to. I got the fan from an old Dell machine — they have this thing they do where they have one massive fan to bring air to all components simultaneously (except the PSU). It can pull some crazy amounts of air when running at max load.

This makes it possible to reach pretty impressive overclocks, and when I use the ASUS FanExpert software, I can also set a sensible fan curve where it stay at <=10% speed until the CPU reaches 60C, then it starts revving up pretty quickly, and at 80C it'll be running at full speed.

This fix makes the computer near-silent for most regular work. Only when I play games or compress large files will it get loud. It's very nice.

Thing is, this only works in Windows, and I also have Linux and OS X on this machine. I actually mostly use these for my programming and whatnot. And here I can't control the speed of the fan via software. Not even on Windows have I found any 3rd party app that'd do what ASUS FanExpert does.

This means I have three BIOS options to rely on: Silent mode (which is frustratingly loud), Turbo mode (which is insanely loud), and Manual, where I get to set two temp vs. duty % values. This would be sufficient if I could set the duty cycle low enough, but the BIOS restricts it to 40%, which is way too loud for this crazy fan.

So now I was kind of hoping that it would be possible to modify the BIOS to allow me to remove this restriction, or maybe even to change the way Silent and Turbo modes work.

Is it?

Thanks for reading Smile

Daniel

Award BIOS update via DOS

This thread is posted for assistance to complete the flashing/updating of an Award BIOS which is installed on a MSI PM8M-V VIA*P4M800+VT8237 Chipset motherboard.

It is my belief in trying to analyze and troubleshoot the recent problems with a computer I built for a friend about 8 years ago, that this computer was infected with Mebromi Malware which is said to contain-"a bit of everything: a BIOS rootkit specifically targeting Award BIOS, a MBR rootkit, a kernel mode rootkit, a PE file infector and a Trojan downloader." (the link to this quote is; http://blog.webroot.com/2011/09/13/mebro...the-wild/)

I have removed and replaced three hard drives, removed any and all of the installed expansion cards, two memory modules, removed the BIOS/CMOS battery for two days, tried to install four different operating systems (i.e. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Pro), utilized various commands in the XP repair console to try to solve this unit booting into any operating system, with no success.

Near the end of this troubleshooting process the computer was stripped down to the absolute minimum hardware necessary to boot, with only the integrated hardware available on-board the motherboard, with no positive results.

I have downloaded from this web-site all of the necessary items to do a USB boot of this computer, along with the appropriate Award Flash Utility. All that remains is acquiring the appropriate BIOS for this particular motherboard.

The original manufacture "MSI" was searched for the appropriate BIOS, but they required that you download a BIOS scanner before the BIOS is provided. AND, this is to occur while you are in WINDOWS! (I cannot boot into Windows!)

Could you please provide any information or a direction I can take to obtain the appropriate BIOS version or update that will allow me to flash the original (infected BIOS) via USB (by USB FLoppy Disk, or USB thumbdrive) with the original or updated MSI BIOS for this particular motherboard?

(Sorry for such a long post, but I have spent a considerable amount of time in trying to solve this problem.)

Thanks for your time. G-Mog

HP Pavilion dv6 1304ew Q9100 support

Hi, I recently bought q9100 core2 quad CPU because HP supports said it is compatible with my notebook. Unfortunately they was wrong because with new CPU when I turn on my notebook I see:
  • blank screen
  • all leds on
  • fan always on
no rebooting just above.
I am thinking it's a bios fault - no microcode for Q9100, so I made a small research and it's what I got.
1. backup my current bios - moded f.44
2. get microcodes list from intel
3. convert microcodes to binary files
4. find T6600(old cpu) bin file
5. open both bios and microcode files in hex edit.
After this steps I see that:

So it looks like I found a microcode for my old cpu in bios file(it's partially different from microcode file but maybe it's version related). I also looked in f.46 bios and it's the same as f.44. Can you tell me if I am going in good direction ? And can I safely backup bios after bad flashing on my laptop ?

I don't know if I posted in good section so sorry if not.

PS. Any help apreciated. Any further steps etc...
Thanks in advance,
blackwolf102

Edit: I just realized that both CPUs uses the same cpuid(or I don't know something), so now the question is if my bios microcode is to old to recognise q9100.

Next edit: is it possible that hp removes support from microcode ?

[REQ] unlock my vaio VGN-AR61E bios

Hi all,
I spent some time reading threads (maybe not enough...) looking for a modded bios for my laptop.
My first aim is to unlock the 2gb RAM limit if possible but i would be glad to have a few more options in my bios since Sony gives really nothing !

I have extracted my bios with Universal Bios Backup and put it here.

Bios is a Phoenix, bios number R2090J8.

If someone could help me with that or take a few time to explain me how to do it... i'll be really glad.

Kiom
