How to unpack a Phoenix BIOS

Hi everyone,

I have a Supermicro X7DWN+ dual socket 771 server board that I had a bad flash on. I am trying to reflash with the original BIOS located here:

http://www.supermicro.com/support/resour...px?ID=1116

The file is called X7DWN0.B19. When I try to flash, I keep getting errors about the BIOS being the wrong size. I was on the flashrom irc channel and they suggested that the BIOS is in an EFI capsule and that I should unpack the BIOS from the X7DWN0.B1 file and then try to flash.

BTW, I have a second board that I am using to do a "hot flash", i.e. I boot the board with the good chip and then swap chips to do the flashing while the system is running.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

zog

Hi, I need a whitelist removal for an IBM A/C card. model #:7260HMW

Stuck at F.02 Insyde BIOS - can't upgrade with higher version!

Hello,
I have HP Envy 14 Notebook 1015tx, and I'm stuck at F.02 BIOS, no matter which higher version BIOS, I try to install - BIOS doesn't upgrade! Therefore, I'm stuck at F.02 version of Insyde BIOS.
Also, F.02 version doesn't detect battery level properly and always shows 0%, so I'm stuck with working but *dead* battery, which gives no backup!

Can anyone suggest any solution to this problem? What are my options now?

Here's is the link to the discussion I started at hp website:

CPUID longer than 2 byte?

To put it simply: what is the difference between CPUIDs 1067Ah and 67Ah?

a) Are they completely different ,
b) The +10000h is a flag of something (Penryn vs Merom maybe?)
c) Are they the same?

I see these CPUIDs at cpuworld, and f.x. in the T9xxx family both of them appears, so I assume they are related somehow...

[Request] ASRock FM2A88X+

I am experiencing problems with voltage throttling on my FM2A88X+ I'm completely new to this, but reading through AMDs Bios Kernel Development Guide it seems that they require the bios to conform to the maximum rated voltage for the chip. (in my case 1.55V)

I am hoping there is a way to override or at least increase the maximum core voltage allowance before the motherboard begins to throttle down the voltage.

When using offset voltage I can achieve the overclock rates I am shooting for (the voltage stays under the max of 1.55 when idling), but as soon as the cpu is under load and the voltage demand increases the motherboard throttles the voltage, and in turn the multiplier drops.

I understand the inherent risks with over-volting the cpu, and would not hold anyone other than myself responsible for any damage caused by such an act. Image may be NSFW.

[REQUEST] Lenovo Twist S230U, gduj18us bzw.GDETA6WW, Phoenix 1.66, White List Removal

I want to build a new WiFi ac adapter in my thinkpad. Could you remove the whitelist from the bios? Or, if that is too much work, add the ac adapter to the whitelist.

I'm also planing to replace the 3G WWAN adapter with a new LTE/4G adapter. The Device Manager points it out as USB (see below), but it's definitely connected via miniPCIe connector. Do you now if this second slot is also restricted?

Notes about what I learnt and did until now:
--------------------------------------------
a) Original 'Bios 0804' has no SLIC-table inside (checked with 'RWEverything portable v1.6.5.9').

b) Tried already modding by myself with 'Phoenixtool v1.53', but after modding still no SLIC-table inside...

My tasks until now, but without success...

'Phoenixtool v1.53' - Settings
------------------------------
1. Original Bios: H81M-PLUS-ASUS-0804.CAP
2. Manufacturer: ASUS
3. SLIC File: ASUS.BIN
4. SLP File: - (leave empty)
5. Key File: KEY.TXT (before I put 'Windows 7 Home Premium OEM Key' inside)
6. RW File: - (leave empty) / and also tried with putting 'AcpiTbls.rw'
7. Certificate: - (leave empty)
8. Method: New Module
9. Log: yes

10. click < Go > will create and output: H81M-PLUS-ASUS-0804_SLIC.CAP

c) Flashed the modded Bios '0804_SLIC.CAP' with Asus Bios Utility for DOS 'Bupdater V1.30' (and tried also with BIOS-inside-Flash-Utility 'Asus EZ-Flash').

d) Booted, but modded Bios '0804_SLIC.CAP' has still no SLIC-table inside (checked with 'RWEverything portable v1.6.5.9').

e) I spent many, many hours with reading the modding tutorials on many sites, but I don't know, what I do wrong until now (Newbie).
Now I'm not shure, if I can use 'Phoenixtool v1.53' for 'AMI' (UEFI-Bios) or do I have to use another tool ???

Thank you very much for your help (maybe somebody experienced can help me also in this issue. After that I am able to provide this forum also with some other modded / tested Bios).

HP G62-220CA UEFI Shell Mod

Hi Everyone!

First time poster, long time lurker. I recently stumbled up a post by Donovan6000 that gave me the urge to pull the trigger and flash a modded BIOS. I've tinkered with my BIOS files before but never actually flashed it til now. Here is my README from the zip along with a picture of the shell on my laptop. With this complete and knowing my laptop is one of the few that is RSA signed without the check I'll be experimenting with unlocking menus or whitelists, etc. I haven't found much info on the G62 but hopefully this will bring those users out of hiding! Code:
UEFI support for HP G62-220CA (Possibly others..)

-INFO-
System: HP G62-220CA
Tools Used: UEFI Tool, Universal IFR Extractor, EFI Variable Dumper, A Hex Editor
Original File: SP52598.exe
BIOS Version: F29
Supported Boards: 1444; 1445; 1446

-MODS-

Patched SHA1 verification of CryptRSA.efi with SHA1 of Shell.efi

-BACKGROUND-

After reading his post (http://donovan6000.blogspot.com/2013/08/look-what-i-did.html) on booting the UEFI
Shell via HP's harcoded UEFI implementation, I decided to see what my system was capable of. Using tools from
Donovan6000 I noticed my BIOS has hidden menus along with a setting for UEFI Boot (Pre-enabled of course!).
For my first attempt I decided to keep it simple and just patch the SHA1 verification. With UEFITool I did a
quick search for the SHA1 of the original CryptRSA.efi in my decrypted BIOS and switched it out for the SHA1
of the Shell.efi. Then I patched my InsydeFlash so I can flash my decrypted BIOS, and well in less than 24hrs
I have minimal UEFI support.

-INCLUDED-

Modded 01444F29.bin
Patched InysdeFlash
Shell.efi renamed in correct folder structure

-NOTE-

I, Crahzee, do not take any resposibility or liability for what may, could, might, will, or won't happen if you flash this.
I am providing it as-is, without any further support. If you require a dictionary at any point during this README, maybe
think twice before flashing. If this brings you success, then your welcome and please give credit where its due. If this
brings misfortune, then I hate to say it but I told you so but it isnt the end of the world.

-INSTRUCTIONS-

1. Before continuing, lookup how to recover your BIOS with a USB and Win + B

2. Format a USB drive as FAT32 and change the label to HP_TOOLS

3. Extract the Shell.zip to the root of the USB drive

4. Run InsydeFlash, it will auto flash the modded BIOS and reboot

5. Only have the USB with extracted files plugged in

6. When splash screeen appears press <F2>

7. Welcome to UEFI World!
