Thinkpad T40 adding Dothan C0 stepping support

Hello all.
Few days ago I've decided upgrading Thinkpad T40 from 1.3ghz Banias to 1.7ghz Dothan, but unlucky bougt 735A with C0 stepping, which is not fully supported so frequency constantly stays at 598Mhz.
Mainboard model 237322G. Embedded microcodes is 3.04 and latest BIOS is 3.23 and can be downloaded here:
https://thinkpads.com/support/Thinkpad-D...uj37us.exe
Personally I tried to replace bios microcodes 694 with 6D8, to which C0 stepping dothans belong imho, but no success - got error during flashing bios "can't merge cpu hash data. make sure *.hsh file is correct".
I'm in stumble. What to check next? Any ideas?

unbricked a b590 but no s/n in Bios

Hi, it doesn't really fit into the mods forum because I don't need any mod at all. I just want to have the right system information back Smile

I have a B590 (H5ET*) which was accidentally flashed with the H9ET* BIOS which means that it booted but no SATA drive worked. Unbricked it now with a CH341A. So far so good. Dumped the wrong H9 BIOS from before and flashed a clean BIOS file from H5. But now there is/was s/n and model and UUID invalid. How can I get it back into the BIOS? I saw that there is no FD44 tool or something like that for Lenovo. With the maintenance utility I was able to write a s/n and and UUID. UUID worked and got shown in BIOS, s/n and model not.

Tried to find it out via UEFItool but that made me crazy...

Maybe someone can help me to get it back like it was before.

Here is the dropbox link with the original dump, the empty manufacturer dump and the latest flash file from lenovo update (don't know if needed). If someone could fill up the manufacturer dump it would be enough for me. The update can be executed easily after that, too.

Thanks in advance!

Software that changes the CPU frequency of a bios

Good evening, I would like to know if there is a software that allows to change the frequency (FSB) of a processor in a bios file. example *.rom (AMI BIOS)
Because I know the maximum frequency that my processor can support. But my motherboard does not allow me to set my processor for overlocking. So I have only this solution. And I think this technique can help a lot of people too.

Hello everyone!
If it's possible to unlock hidden/advanced settings on this small PC's BIOS?
Just want to change timings of RAM (or use XMP) if it's possible and have FAN control.
When PC starts, I get 5000 RPM on CPU FAN and I can't find any settings to change this behaviour in stock version of BIOS.
Official BIOS on MSI Site: https://download.msi.com/bos_exe/desktop...IMS910.zip
Have the same version installed.
Can anyone help with unlocking?
Thanks in advance.

Gigabyte MU92-TU1 bios locked

$

Hello all!

Recenlty I bought a Gigabyte MU92-TU1 motherboard for my new lab environment. The reason why I chose this motherboard is because comes with 16 DIMM slots and I reuse my 16x32GB sticks (2933MHz) from my previous system on this new one.

The point is the BIOS on this motherboard and generaly in motherboards from Gigabyte (as far as I know), are hidden in BIOS menus the PCIe bifurcation options. Not because the hardware doesn't support it, but for any reason this vendor prefer to not display that feature.

I have some Samsung 980 Pro NVMe sticks and I want to use it with this motherboard with a PCIe adapters like I've been using since last year and a half.
I was thinking also to replace the PCIe adapter for a NVMe RAID adapter solution, like the HighPoint SSD7505, but unfortunely this is not compatible with VMware ESXi which will be running on this system.

A few weeks ago I seen this post https://forums.servethehome.com/index.ph...mod.37187/ from andrewbedia explaining how to modify and flash a BIOS Mod for a Gigabyte Xeon motherboard from previous generation (1st and 2nd Xeon Scalable) and I take it from reference to modify BIOS for my motherboard.
The guide works and the tools user permit me to modify the .bin and .rom files, but at the time to flash it... didn't work.
I try many times and a lot of tools and ways to flash it.
The tools used are; afudos, afuwin, AMI Setup IFR Extractor, FPT and other that I don't remember. In all cases I get a error showing the BIOS is write protected.
As I can find during my troubleshooting process is when BIOS is modified, the signature in .rom file cannot be saved by AMIBCP and on .bin files sems the same. I thiks is the vendor or AMI BIOS signature.

The BIOS protection I don't know from where comes, if is from Intel ME (I read it about in other articles and forums Googling it) or if it's another kind of protection.

At this point and whith the imposibility to do it by software flashing, I'm thinking to flash the BIOS chip from hardware tools like CH341A or similar.
My surprise was when I see the BIOS chip is type SIOC16 or SOP16, the model is MX25L51245GMI-08G.
I didn't see any reference about how to flash it or the constrains for flashing this chip in this motherboard or others with the same BIOS chip.

I ordered in Aliexpress 2 chips and a clip SOP16 to try to flash it by myself, but I don't know if the CH341A is the apropiated Hardware tool to flash those chips or I have to use other for that. I want to test as many flashes as I can to try if I the BIOS Mod can be written in the new chips and then try in the motherboard chip, but honestly I don't know if this is the correct way to do it or instead of that, better do a chip replacement (unsoldering the original) with the new one flashed with BIOS mod.
Ofcourse I prefer to not do any hardware manipulation (unsoldering) on a new motherdoard, at least if there is no garantee if that would work.

Anyone here have experience with the same or similar problems and how to resolve it?

Many thanks!

[REQUEST] Lenovo B490 (H5ETxxWW) Whitelist Removal

Hello, friends!

I'm upgrading my Lenovo B490, migrating my wireless network card to an Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260.

I tested the card by unplugging the original card from the PCI connector and inserting the new network card without rebooting (so I don't go through the ID check at boot time), it worked perfectly.

I would like someone to please remove Whitelist from my bios.

I used "Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0" software to perform BIOS backup.

Model: B490

[Request] Mod BIOS to change default display priority on (Insydeh20) HP 15-D012sx lap

So I have an old laptop from 2013 (I think?), the specs of it are still quite decent and unfortunately, the screen is completely fried and won’t display any image, so I connected an external monitor using VGA, and everything was good until I tried going to the bios. The bios screen doesn’t post on the external display. Tried using fn+f4 to switch to another display, removing the lvds cable that connects from the motherboard to the laptop’s lcd panel, AND closing the laptop lid, but none of them worked. Closing the lid method seemed to worked on my Acer laptop (which also runs insydeH20 bios) and was able to set the default power on display to the HDMI port.

I would like someone to modify this bios to set the default power on display on HP 15-D012sx laptop to VGA or HDMI. thanks!

Also tried updating the bios. Still didn’t work;;
This is the bios I’m currently running (F.19 Rev.A): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k_pl32m...share_link

And also is there a way to unlock the hidden “Advanced Tab” on this laptop as It did on almost older HP (And even the latest Acer) laptops? Just need to access the Bios to edit the settings on “Video Configuration”, fan speed, thermals, CPU clock settings, etc.
