Does "connected standby" setting exist in UEFI?

Hello,

All tablets with full Windows 8.1 x86 have special "Connected Standby" instead of old standby.

This CS is very annoying for many users because it often makes battery lasting less than one day on this "standby". Most of them don't mind reversing to the old standby mode.

Unfortunately this setting cannot be changed. I can't have CS on a desktop PC, and I can't have old standby on the laptop.

Intel writes in his papers that CS has to be turned on in firmware.

I am not sure, but I understand firmware as a BIOS/UEFI.
I wonder if there is any setting regarding availability of CS mode.
Have you seen anything like that in BIOS/UEFI of tablets?

I think Windows 8.1 on tablets is the same as Windows 8.1 on desktops and laptops. It just checks if device is able to use CS.
I don't know if Windows checks this setting on installation or later.

Hello!

I've wanted to change my atheros wifi card into Intel card to allow WiDi to work. I'd like to put in Intel Centrino Advanced N-6235 or AC7260. As long as i can get FullHD WiDi working im cool! So i ran into this Whitelisting problem, and tried contacting Toshiba for support but it seems they're not willing to tell me which cards might work so now i need to get rid of the whitelist.

Hello I am the IT manager of a Large Asset Management Firm. We recently purchased Thousands of Dell Cloud Servers DCS6005. We have run into the issue where the custom BIOS does not allow for complete control of the hardware for this motherboard Tyan S8208GM2NR. I am looking for someone that can extract the BIOS and modify it so that we can reflash thousands of motherboards for resale.

Hi, I have two Compaq V3206AU machines and i need to replace the Wifi card in both. One has died completely and the other is well on its way. I have the new cards ready but i have ran into the 'Whitelist / 104' Error!

I'm in search for a 'Mod Bios' for these machines but have not managed to find one as yet. Can Someone help?

Looking to replace the wifi card with Intel 7260HMW IEEE 802.11AC, dual-band, 2x2 Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth 4.0 Mini PCI Express combo Adapter, which is not included in the BIOS whitelist.

The existing wifi card is Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter + BT Combo Card. Ven ID 0x14E4 and Dev ID 0x4727

If anyone has a procedure for brick recovery of a Lenovo G500 with Insyde H20 BIOS, that would be useful information for reference.

Finally, is it safe to flash BIOS for this laptop via a DOS bootable USB with flashit.exe and running C:\> flashit.exe WinVIWGP201.ROM /all -MC ?

I would like to be able to upgrade and downgrade BIOS via flashing from DOS.

Or is the preferred way to upgrade or downgrade BIOS to use InsydeFlash.exe via Windows 7 ?

I read somewhere that DOS flashing via flashit.exe could result in bricking due to RSA signing or some other unintended process.

Hi,

I have a medion X7826 - it has a Medion X782X motherboards, and American Megatrends BIOS.
Would it be possible to unlock it? Since the fan speed is kinda messed up. Smile

I dont know what else I need to add, but I wend to BIOS and these 2 items stand out:
BIOS Version: E1763IM7.50B
EC Version: 1763EM72 Ver5.10

And also, I just want to know if this would void my warranty.
Read somewhere if anything would to happen, you could just unplug the laptop take the battery out and back in and that it would go to factory settings, is it true?

i believe this is an insyde bios, not completely sure though, i tried the software available on this forum to mess around with it, but all this is greek to me so far. i got to the point where it broke it down to modules and from the module i even found where my current cards ID is located but thats as far as i can get, once i got that far and tried again the software(andys tool) kept crashing so i gave up. if anyone here can help i would really appreciate it.
