Hello everyone, 

i would like to know if it is possibile to read a bios and know the microcodes in it to be sure that it support a cpu.

To be more specific, this is the latest bios i have installed:

it is the a14 version.

I successfully upgraded to an i5 2400 last year, now i would like to know if with this update is it possibile to install an i7 2600!

I read the other topic where it is said that optiplex 390 has a 4mb bios, so no ivy brigde, but i7 2600 is a sandy, so before wasting money, please teach me how to read inside a bios.

Hey, recently I bought Lenovo 333-15ARR Laptop (Ryzen 2500U/Vega 8). And the thing is that this laptop (as the others Ryzen 2nd gen laptops) suffering from weird AMD technology called STAPM (that limit CPU/GPU power). So can someone please look into my bios, and see if there any advanced options or and options that responds for STAPM or W power?

Unlocked Bios settings explanation?

I have an unlocked insydeH20 R0162Z7 bios, and i have this settings: FACP - C2 Latency Values, FACP - C3 Latency Values, FACP - RTC S4 Wakeup, _OSC support, and HPET Support, can someone explain to me what is all of them? Also can i or is it safe to disable them (for performance gain)? Thanks

MacPro5,1 X5687/X5698 CPU support

I was wondering if anyone here knows how to add X5687/X5698 CPU support to the MacPro5,1 Macintosh Computer?

I know its not a microcode issue, as not only does the latest EFI for the MP5,1 contain the latest Westmere microcode pretty much all LGA1366 CPUs work in the MacPro5,1 computer, apart from the X5687/98, if you install an X5687/98 into a MacPro5,1 the system will not POST

as such. I suspect it may be a multiplier issue like the one that prevented the X5698 from working at full speed in the EVGA SR2, so i wonder if it could be patched the same?

sadly I dont own an X5687 or X5698 myself but I know some people who do and im asking on behalf of the Mac Pro community on the Mac Rumors forum

and attached is an EFI Update file for the MP5,1 system (it is a complete BIOS/EFI however its missing machine specific things like serial numbers)

Request - ASRock X58 Extreme Thermal Bypass

Hello!  Big Grin

I've run a i7 920, Asrock X58 Extreme with 3x4GB Kingston bundle for nearly a decade. Decided to throw in a X5660. It needed a bios update. No problem! - until there was: 

As of version 1.7: 
1. Update CPU code.
2. Add thermal protect function.

After searching through the web a bit, i fell over a german site, which stated that the board will now shut down after the VRM's hit 70c. Sure enough, the board now shuts down right away after starting a stresstest. Even with my old i7 920 i've run for 8-9 years at 4GHz.  Dodgy

My thought's:
* Copy Xeon microcode from new BIOS and insert in old BIOS
* Raise thermal threshold to 105 in newest bios
* Feed static reading

What would you think is the simplest solution? 

My skills are very limited, not hopeless tho. If someone can do it, i won't mind  Heart - Otherwise, guidance towards which tools to use and how is much appreciated!

Also, if there are any improvements though BIOS unlock and if i should unlock it to get more "power".

Hello guru,

My mothrrboard biostar tp67ex is not properly work with my ES cpu i7 qb5u at overclock mode. 
In bios, if I set cpu clock ratio above 26, it will return to 26. Eventually not able to OC. In fact, this cpu is unlocked on clock ratio. Please help to unlock the cpu ratio to 50 for overclock mode. I know many people use this cpu at 4.5 Ghz
instead of at default 2.2Ghz.

Hello guru,

My motherboard biostar tp67ex is not properly work with my ES cpu i7 qb5u at overclock mode. In bios, if I set cpu clock ratio greater than 26, it will return to 26. Eventually it is not able to OC. Dell Inspiron One 19 Upgrade CPU from E7500 to LGA771 Xeon L5420

Hi,

I've Dell Inspiron One 19, all in one pc, currently running Core 2 Duo E7500 (TDP: 65W) chipset G41, 
i plan to upgrade it to xeon L5420 (TDP 50W), Xeon cpu is pin modded by seller to fit into LGA775.
I need a modded bios to run this xeon.

This is the latest bios from dell version A06:

using hex editor, i replace:
cpu10677_plat10_ver00000705_2008-04-28_PRD_A6DB99DD.bin to cpu0001067a_plat00000044_ver00000a0b_date20100928.bin

then flash with WinRBU.exe from windows 10, the pc restart and blink for a second, then black screen for long time.
i then restart the pc and it's complaining about fail to upgrade bios failed crc.

Asus p5kpl-vm bios mod

Hi i was wondering if its at all possible to include the " jumper free configuration " from the asus p5kpl-am onto the p5kpl-vm bios...
The rom i have included is the only one I've been able to get ezflash to accept..
The basis of what I'm looking for is the ability to change some of the overclocking features.. any help would be greatly appreciated..thx
