Dell Inspiron 7566 Help needed

Dear Forum members,
I'm newbie in this bios modding things. I have Dell 7566 which is very slow compared to other laptops that has exactly same CPU, RAM & GPU [Lenovo Y700], even in benchmarks, I can see that my RAM performance is way lower than expected. I have changed my RAM but still performance is slow as this laptop sees my RAM speed as 2133 although it is 2400mhz, still Benchmarks shows that RAM performance is lower than expected.
is there any way to unlock more bios options, any way to make this laptop able to recognize higher RAM speeds. Is there any way to tweak it to perform better.
please help me.

onboard LAN MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00 after BIOS update

hi, I have a Gigabyte MB10-DS1 which had a "Datto" branding and F01 BIOS.
I downloaded the official F06 and updated BIOS+ME via BMC web interface, and also updated the BMC itself.

I now see both LAN having have MAC all zeros.

After some googling I thought i'd give this a try:

however I cannot find anywhere what is the correct way to use this command for 2 MAC addresses?

or?

but how to specify 2 MAC? could not find examples.


Already tried Asrock MAC Tool (from FreeDOS USB stick)

which does NOT work for me!


Any help please!

Acer Aspire T3-710

Hi as Acer have dropped support for my T3-710, I wondered if anyone could please spare some time to have a look at the latest bios for my PC, and see if there are any options or features that could be unlocked?

Probably silly, but are there microcodes/mods for the i7 820 that allow all 4 cores at highest multiplier? Chipset is QM57.

Maybe someone can help with SetFSB? it worked on X58 with ML350 G6, see image

HP dv9500 bios recovery

Having problems with following this instruction

Simply don't know where do I find BIOS.WPH file for my laptop. 
I can't get it from HP support cause the laptop is too old.

I guess, I  corrupted BIOS trying to do "things" with whitelist and now it doesn't start (I mean BIOS)
So I need to recover it.

All Bios files are compressed and attached.

I want to unlock the Hidden Menu in Bios.
In particular, I wonder if there are AHCI related settings.

I tried to mod and flashed this BIOS in order to undervolt this device GPU ( MSI AB and other software didn't work ) but when I tried to flash it via FPT with the command : "fptw64.exe -f edited.rom -bios" I received: "Error 368: Failed to disable write protection for the BIOS space.

FPT Operation Failed." 
Please help me unlock this BIOS and it would be great if you can help me set the voltage offset for this GPU
Bellow is a BIOS I moded to tried to undervolt the GPU please take a look at it if you have the time as well

Lenovo W540 (Model 20BHS36100)
4910mq
Quadro k2100m
32GB RAM
512GB SSD

Bios has been updated to latest version before dump. (2.36 if I remember correctly)

The Bioses has been dumped using CH341a programmer + SOIC clip using flashrom under Linux from another laptop:

HP Probook 4545s Richland support

Hi, I have a Probook 4545s and two A10-5750M processors that won't work in the laptop even with the latest bios, F.68.  The laptop seems to run but nothing is displayed on the screen with it installed.  However, it runs fine with the A10-4600M.  Does any one have or can anyone make a bios modification to enable Richland support for this model?

Hello,

First of all, I am new to this forum, and I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

I've been looking for a solution to my problem, and someone said that you guys might be able to help me.


I bought a Xeon Phi 7120P Coprocessor recently to use with my computer. Since my motherboard (Asus STRIX Z-370-e w/ 8700k) supports above 4G decoding, and similar chipsets have been able to run Xeon Phi Coprocessors (z170, h270m, z390), I assumed that the Xeon Phi would work with my system. However, no matter what I have tried, the BIOS nor any OS seems to see the Coprocessor as installed in my system. The motherboard registers the slot as filled, and brings my main GPU down to pci-e x8, but says that there is nothing installed into the 2nd PCI-E slot. I've also tried it as the only PCI-E card and used dedicated graphics, but to no avail.

I assume that this is a BIOS problem, due to the fact that the motherboard is detecting the card, and the card is powering on, it's just that nothing is showing up in the BIOS or OS.

Any help from anyone that might know what's going on, why it isn't working, or what direction I should go in to continue trying to solve my problem is GREATLY appreciated.

i7 2860QM on Lenovo G770

Hi,

I'd like to know whether my old Lenovo G770 would support and upgrade to i7 2860qm. I saw a video on YouTube of someone who managed to successfully install an i7 2720qm in this laptop. Also, what would you advise with respect to the fact that this i7 has a higher TDP (45W) than the original CPU - i5 2450m (35W).

EDIT: My laptop's motherboard chipset is the Intel HM65.

Hi guys, i work in a business which sells refurbished laptops, we want to sell them with battery in good conditions and we have a lot of problems with recent thinkpads because, if bios is updated, 90% of the time compatible batteries do not work. We need documentation or a place to find patches for uefi, we don't want to request every bios, it's too much to ask you because we have lot of models and they have different revisions. I'd really like to learn instead.

And I have another question, I tried to mod vBIOS files in the rom and flash it in with FPT but I got : "Error 368: Failed to disable write protection for the BIOS space.

FPT Operation Failed."
I tried "setup_var 0x463 0x00" but it didn't work. How can I disable write protection ?
