Unlocking the R0100J4 BIOS

Hello,

This post contains an unlocked R0100J4 BIOS image, which can be found at the bottom of this post.

I have unlocked the hidden INTEL Menu, which contains a vast plethora of interesting settings, such as AHCI and VT-x (hardware virtualization). I have also added a few unlinked keyboard settings to the beginning of the Advanced Menu.

Since Sony did not release an official BIOS update for this BIOS image, this BIOS image was provided by BIOS-Mods member sickplanet. sickplanet provided a BIOS dump from their Sony Vaio VGN-N38Z notebook. As BIOS dumps alone do not contain special platform data that instructs the flashing program on how to flash a BIOS chip, I had to apply platform data from a R0030J4 BIOS image (for which Sony did release an update). I was able to do this because both notebooks have the same chipset and are in the same notebook series. I have confirmed that this process works with my own notebook's  BIOS image (my notebook also has the 945GM chipset), applying the same platform data. The result is that the BIOS image at the end of this post is now flashable.

PRECAUTIONS/DISCLAIMERS:

I have a graphic card problem due to which I can't boot up my windows OS to make a bios dump. I am thinking of switching to intel graphic processor for which I need the advanced settings in BIOS . I have a dual boot setup though , I can access all my windows files via ubuntu, which is working. Can I manually get all the files needed for the mod or get the bios dump using ubuntu ?

Hello! I would like to have the bios for my laptop, as mentioned above, to be unlocked!
Also, I would like to have the higher TDP unlocked as I bought a i7-3720QM a year ago, but my laptop wouldn't allow it due to the fact that it had a 45W TDP! Which really had upset me!  Sad

recently my wifi card got broken and now i can't find any specific model that work with my laptop...
so i need to remove that whitelist from bios. thankyou guys
( and pls tell me is it safe to do that or not )

Hi, I've got Lenovo V570 running with 44CN43WW bios
There is a problem:
I have hdd + ssd (case hdd enclosure odd), and it works fine.

Also I have free mSata port and I want to add second mSata ssd.
The mSata port works, I have tested it.

But when I try to start my notebook with hdd, ssd(odd) + ssd(msata), it loads bios and stuck at Lenovo splashscreen

I have tested:
  • hdd + ssd(odd)
  • ssd(odd) + ssd(msata)
  • hdd + ssd(msata)
They are all work.
Also I have eSata port, eSata to Sata cable, Sata to mSata closure, and I have tried to mix configuration of ssd's and hdd with eSata, mSata, hdd(odd), hdd.
It works only if I connect only two disks, then I try to boot with three disk it stucks.

Also I have tried to boot from Boot Menu, and select disk manually, it doesn't want to boot.
I have bios with unlocked whitelist, and Advanced Tab, so I have played with Uefi\Legacy boot, but it doesn't help either.
I can't find secure boot settings in bios.

I think there are some limitations or errors in bios, or it can be secure boot

Please help. I can pay for that. Thanks

Hello!


Please help me with a whitelist removal.
Laptop: Lenovo N200 O769
Current BIOS: Phoenix V3.05

Bios Bricked: Sony Vaio VGN-AW11XU

Hello,

I have applied this Bios:

i booted DOS, and ran AFUDOS.EXE R1054Y2S.WPH
(unfortunately without /P )

The Laptop now stays black-screen when power-on.


I tried the procedure:

I ran Andy's Tool, and it says it is an Inside BIOS; recovery filename: Y2.rom

I formatted an USB Stick (old model, 1GB size) with FAT16,
and put Y2.rom into root FS.

The laptop has 3 USB ports, and I have tried all 3 ports with all known Keyboard-shortcuts, e.g.
$nokey-|FN-|Win-|Ctrl-|Alt- Esc|B|F|R|Home

In any case, the USB Stick's LED blinks once upon power-on, but then nothing.
(it should blinkg, when bios file is read, right?)

I have been 3 days on forums of MDL and here, and Sony Vaio Notebooks seems to be difficult to recover, with not much information and usercases available.

I am really looking for guidance here;
to me it seems I just miss the correct KB-shortcut to start recover procedure upon poweron...

Hi guys,

I have searching in other threads but I don´t find a modified BIOS for my laptop.


I have a HP G61-430ss and need to access to advance options of my InsydeH20 Bios or flashing an other compatible BIOS with this options unblocked. It´s not a UEFI BIOS.

I need to change SATA mode to AHCI and I have the option for virtualize 64 bits operating systmen in vitual box.
If is posible unlocked the rest options, better .

My BIOS is Insyde F.23 Rev. A  - 14  January 2011 (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp51501-52000/sp51527.exe)

Please, Could you help me?
