Acer E1-572_BR648 BIOS recovery

Hi,

I have the Acer E1-572, BR648 variant (i5 4200U, 6GB RAM DDR3L, HDG 4400 and 500GB HDD). This weekend, I tried to install a caddy  with a 500GB HDD (actually the original HDD) to this laptop, and a kind of BIOS conflict might happened during the process (maybe because of the ODD changes Acer made on the BIOS lately). The final result is my laptop rebooting every time I try to power it on. No POST, just a black screen and sudden reboots (computer is unable to keep on).

I was trying to recover my BIOS using WinCrisis method. However, extracting the .exe I've got from Acer didn't show any large .fd or .bin files. Executing the BIOS flasher in another machine reveals the isflash.bin file in Local/Temp directory. Running the isflash.bin file in PhoenixTool shows me that I have to rename my file as VX......f?. But, as anyone knows, Windows doesn't allow question marks on filenames. Renaming the file as VX.......fd and injecting WinCrisis files on a flash drive produces no effect on the target machine using Esc+Fn keys. I'm unsure if the BIOS is RSA-signed due to its filename.

I'd like to know the right way to inject BIOS and recover this laptop.

Thanks in advance.

[REQUEST] Unlock Acer Aspire R7-572G Advanced Menu

Hi,
Model of computer: Acer Aspire R7-572G
InsydeH20 rev 3.7, Acer BIOS version 2.04

Original bios image:
.bin   isflash.bin (Size: 9.45 MB / Downloads: 0)

Module I think that contains the setup: DriverSampleDxe, UEFITool shows UI Section contains the text "SetupUtility". IFR dump with Donovan6000's Universal IFR Extractor shows it contains all the menu items in the BIOS.

There is a subroutine that referred to all the forms shown in the IFR extraction. Inside the subroutine it had a function paired with each of the forms. The subroutine seems to use a loop to call each of the function, probably to install the forms somehow? I compared the function paired with the forms and found that the Power and Advanced form's paired function lacked a call to another function, so I modified the binary to make it look similar to the other functions.

Patched module:
.rom   FE3542FE-C1D3-4EF8-657C-8048606FF670_976.ROM (Size: 783.03 KB / Downloads: 0)

IFR dump:
.txt   FE3542FE-C1D3-4EF8-657C-8048606FF670_976 IFR.txt (Size: 558.44 KB / Downloads: 0)

I repacked it by selecting "allow user to modify other modules" option in phoenix tool, and flashed the modified image with BIOS crisis recovery by holding Fn+ESC. The computer did boot after the flash but power and advanced menu is still missing.

Could someone help me to unlock the advanced menu, and possibly tell me how it is hidden?

Also, what are some resources to learn about the IFR? I don't really understand all the bytes inside the braces and the SuppressIfs in the dump...

Thanks!

Hi Guys! I am needing a BIOS mod for a hackintosh install. Video is glitchy (memory mod?), it needs a WLAN whitelist, and I would love to have unlocked BIOS menus.

I have included a BIOS Dump and a DSDT file as well. I am very new to modding so please excuse me if I am missing any information that is needed. BIOS file had to be shared via GDrive due to size constraints.

Update HP pavilion g6-2220sf BIOs : safe to use another board model?

Hello,

I'm having some problems with the fans of an HP pavilion g6-2220sf BIOS (mother board 188F, Insyde BIOS F.12 (08/29/2012)) : they are always turning at full speed. I tried everything I have in mind (like reseting the bios to factory, modify the EC registers, installing Cool'n'quiet, disable the Bios option "Fans always On"), except one thing: update the BIOS.

So here it is. I tried to download the files from the HP website (you need to select Windows 8, Windows 8.1 does not have any bios update). Because Windows was not installed on my system (since, I installed it back just to update the BIOS), I used 7z to extract the .exe. Inside I found a list of .exe and .dll, and two .bin:

- 01847F2A.bin
- 0188DF2A.BIN

However, if I read the name correctly, this corresponds to the BIOS F.2A of the mother boards 1847 and 188D. But mine is 188F, and I cannot find any other website to download the good bios for 188F. I tried to feed the UEFI Bios included flash software with these two .bin, but it did not work, and for now on Windows I don't see any error... But I'm afraid to brick my BIOS if I use these files (and because I don't even have a copy of my BIOS (is it even possible to do ?) I'm still more afraid to try that).

What do you think? I'm quite new to BIOS hacks, but any advice, any technical information to explain me why it would (or would not) work, or even alternative "mods" would be really appreciated!

Thank you!

Nvidia GPU Bios

hello everyone,

im totally new here, so idk if im posting this in the right sub/forum.

i have used gpu-z to extract my gpu bios, its from sub-vendor MSI the card is " GeForce GTX 1050 ti OC Edition "

so i was doing couple researches about how to modify my gpu bios, i found some outdated tools like "nibitor" but it only support older gpu's.

some told me you can hex-edit it but the " .rom " file is encrypted ( first i thought its encoded but it appears no, its encrypted )

so im not quite sure if anyone ever decided to modify his gpu bios, but im looking for some help.

what im trying to achieve is:

- modify the voltage
- overclock my VRAM ( GDDR5 ) timing latency

and few extra things ( depending on my gpu features )

thanks in advance.

Lenovo G50-70 bios recovery

Hello,
I've been trying to flash a modified bios for my Lenovo G50-70 in order to remove wifi whitelist, but no success yet. I updated the bios from 9ACN25WW to 9ACN26WW using an executable downloaded from Lenovo's website, because 9ACN26WW has the sleep bug, so I could flash a new modified bios. I have a three operating system on my laptop: Mac OS High Sierra, Windows 10 and Ubuntu 17.10, so my bootloader is Clover.
After updating from 9ACN25WW to 9ACN26WW, Clover didn't show up in the boot options, so I manually added it using a software called EasyUEFI. After that I rebooted and I got to the Clover screen. I extracted the bios image, patched it using Andy's tool, and tried to flash using FPTW64 version 9.5 . I always get error 204: data verify mismatch found. So FPT isn't doing anything at all, it shows "reading flash", "erasing flash block", "programming flash", "verifying flash" and then it says "error 204: data verify mismatch found".
The bios isn't working fine anymore as well, if I hold FN + F2 at startup it gets stuck, I can still access the BIOS settings using the Novo button, but if I change any setting, save and reboot, I always get the default settings. I'm also not able to boot from USB anymore, it just gives me an error. All my operating systems boot fine anyway, but the bios became really slow, for example when I'm in the BIOS settings and I press any key, it reacts after 2 or 3 seconds, it's really slow now. I also tried to copy the file "bios.bin" on a pendrive, and rebooted holding keys Windows + B or Windows + R, the laptop beeps a lot, but takes me to the clover screen after that. I'm not even able to update the bios using Lenovo tools, when the laptop reboots it always takes me to the Clover screen.
Is there anything I can do without substituting the bios chip? Any "software" solution I haven't tried yet?

Stock BIOS is limited to Core 2 Duo Conroe 65nm CPUs, which max out at 2.67GHz (1066 FSB).  Is it possible to update microcode to support faster Wolfdale 45nm CPUs?  Specifically looking at SLGTD, R0 stepping, CPUID 1067A.  I understand that the 1067A code is 8K in length, which may create a problem with adding new processors without removing current support.

Have explored the BIOS with PhoenixTool, but CPU table location is not obvious.  I would appreciate instruction on how to proceed, or whether the task is even possible.

[REQUEST] HP G72-110sa bios unlock, please?

Hello wonderful community  Angel and special thanks to Camilomil and WiDef. Calling all experts!

STORY: I have an hp g72-110sa with the latest F.37 bios(http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52604.exe). Everything works well, except that when i boot the windows 7, the laptop suddenly shuts off at some point (2-3 min after boot and even in win7 installation). I believe the heat trigger (Intel Thermal Subsystem) is the cause because this happened after i updated the bios to the latest version. I've tried installing older versions of the bios but the problem persists. I've applied thermal paste on the CPU again, swaped with another CPU, reflow the chipset and studied carefully but nothing leads to a solution other than a defective temperature sensor on the motherboard. Anyway, a new motherboard is my last resort so before that I would rather try faster/cheaper solution since the laptop still looks and feels new. I've used camilomil modded bios F.37(http://www.bios-mods.com/BIOS/index.php?...miloml.exe) but here is the problem. IT DOESN'T WORK. After the recovery flash is complete, and i go in the bios, i see many cool new options but when i change anything and i "Save and Exit", it just freezes. I force shut the laptop, but my settings aren't saved so i assume the modded bios has an issue with the CMOS memory saving part. Can someone investigate this? Thanks a million!

REQUEST: Camilomil's bios mod (http://www.bios-mods.com/BIOS/index.php?...miloml.exe) doesn't work as when i save the settings the screen just freezes and i can't do anything. After restart, the settings aren't saved, thus i can't use the unlocked menus. Can someone do a better mod? Thank you.
