Dell Bios Data Location

Question, I have a Dell OptiPlex 9010 (2013 model).

The BIOS shows the Service Tag number, where is this data stored - SMBIOS?  DMMI Tables?  SLIC?
I want to just modify the 6 digits or at least wipe the tag data, yet it appears nobody anywhere seems to have any info for how to do this on newer Dell machines.  The old machines had simple exe's and switches but they don't work on newer Dell machines.

Happy to provide any further info if it helps, just ask me what you want to know and I'll get it.

Any ideas?

Gentlemen, please help me solve the problem.
You need to install a third-party Wifi module, but checking for validity does not allow this.
You want to turn off the whitelist.

Guys, I need help. I have an Intel motherboard (model DG41RQ) and recently I bought a Xeon x5460 cpu, and I have already seen reports of people using the same motherboard with the same cpu, but I do not know how to install the Xeon microcodes on the bios of my motherboard. I know it's very complicated in the intel bios, I'm not even sure if it's possible, but I really need a tutorial. thank you![Image: hfpm80]

I've seen the Opti 380 running X5460 120W Xeons at userbenchmark.com so the usual 95W Opti limit doesn't apply.
I would like to know if there is a BIOS that will run the QX9650 C0. If I can't get that to run then I will try the Xeon X5470. But I understand that the Xeon BIOS replaces all LGA775 C0 support. So I would like to try the C2X first.

Voyo V1 mini PC - unlock WOL

Hi,

  I have a VOYO V1 mini PC, also known as Vmac mini.

There is a so-called "Linux-unlocked" EFI formware for this pc (attached), that I have installed on my device.

 Examining the fw file in AMIBCP Version 5.01.0014, I can trace the opened Setup options through the following tree:

"Setup"                               - 0x0014  (Displayed, Access/Use= "Default") ->
"Chipset"                             - 0x002D (Displayed, Access/Use= "Default")  ->
"South Cluster Configuration" - 0x05CC (Displayed, Access/Use= "Default") ->
"Miscellaneous Configuration" - 0x0685 (Displayed, Access/Use= "Default") ->
"Wake On Lan"                     - 0x0515  (Displayed, set Disabled by default)

From that, I understand that the option should be available to me in the EFI UI, but when I look on the PC, everything from "South Cluster Configuration" and down is hidden.

*Would anyone be able to take a look at the file and let me know why I am not able to access these options?
*Is there any magic key combination that I can use to access the rest of the settings that are not showing but set as "Show"=Yes, "Access/Use"="Default" in the fw?

Set default recovery file

Hi,

  Not sure if this is even possible, but I have read that certain AMI EFI's have an auto-recovery feature:

  If the system does not load the EFI that is in the EPROM, it looks for a firmware file with a particular name on a USB pendrive and updates the eprom with it.  Sometimes a magic key combination is required, sometimes not.  I am assuming that this is a potential feature of ALL AMI BIOS's/EFI's and that the necessary parameters just need to be set in the firmware.

Does anyone know how this works and if an EFI that doesn't have it set can be modified to include it?

 For my system it would be best if the option doesn't require keystrokes as USB is dead if EFI fails to load (I already bricked two systems and had to reflash the eprom off-board.) hence the interest in the feature).

I can navigate the FW(attached in WOL thread)  with AMIBCP v.5.0.1

BR.

Dell Inspiron 7567 15 Gaming

Hi, everyone. Im here hoping someone can help me to fix a terrible mistake Dell made with this gaming laptop. The most experienced users have noticed this laptop has its thermal throttle point at really low values. Its equipped with gtx 1050 ti gpu and intel i7 7700hq processor. The thing is the prochot, thermal throttle point or whatever you guys would like to call it is very low for a laptop that carries gaming on its name. Intel standard is 100°c, but Dell set the thermal limit to 85°c and pretty much every demanding game like battlefield 1 multiplayer makes the prccessor hit this temperature after playing longer than 10 minutes , making the cpu throttles to 1.6 - 1.7ghz which is fairly below its base clocks (2.8 ghz). The gpu also starts to throttle very quickly (73°c). So its a completely mess when both are being used. I have an asus laptop with maxwell gpu from nvidia and broadwell cpu and i could easily have access to the cpu configuration on the bios, i modified the vbios quiet easy as well. But this dell laptop has its bios on .exe format. I tried everything i could to extract the .rom so i could mod the bios and change the tcc activation offset values to intel standards to fix this temp limit issue but i have no success so far. I tried cmd command, phoenix tools, universal extractor, none of them worked. I dont want a whole unlocked bios, just want to fix these thermal limit points, but the only way we can do this its changing the values on the bios and flashing it back. This definitely would help a lot of people that own this laptop and is aware of this problem. At least let us know If this is possible or not, If its somehow protected and could be only done with programmer. If so, i will return this laptop and get my money back. Its unacceptable a gaming laptop cant actually gaming. I know hitting 100°c is too much, but i doubt it would reach that, we cant be sure since the system will never go further than that once it starts to throttles after pass 85°c.

Just a note: my old laptop from Asus hits 86°c on very demanding games when cpu usage is 100% for years (very common event, even for 4c4t and 4c8t desktops processors as the games are becoming more cpu core demanding these days) and never had a problem. It doesnt stay there for a long period, is more like 78-86°c range depending on stress areas of the games. But the dell 7567 cant work like that since the cpu have no chance to properly work due to very restrict limit (85°) and it wont reduce 0.1ghz until temperatures are stable, but drastically drops from 3.4 (the turbo boost) to half speed (1.6-1.7 ghz). And it stays like that until you close the game and open it again (but in a short matter of time it happens again, of course). The drastic drops on the speeds may be a power throttle too since this model has only a 130w psu, but i want to get rig of the thermal limit first or it will make no difference buying a larger one.

Thank you all for the attention. Really hope someone here can give me a light with extracting the dell bios.

Here's the latest bios version: https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER0461430..._1.2.0.exe

Here's a 7567 owner playing games and he didnt even notice the same is happening to him(jump to 1:30 and keep looking at the cpu speed and temperature line): https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLl7SUr...hi_X9tG5FI

Bios is here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePC/E...S-1103.zip

I've poked around in it myself with AMIBCP but the option isn't available to just toggle on.  I do see in the strings that "Configure SATA as" exists in there somewhere, as does "ATA/IDE Configuration" which I think also needs to be enabled to be able to toggle "Configure SATA as" as an enabled option.  Basing that on other AMI bioses I've used and seen that use the ICH7 chipset, set "ATA/IDE Configuration" to "Enhanced" and then the "Configure SATA as" will let you pick IDE or Native/AHCI.

I still use this dumb little netbook and having AHCI support would bring much joy to my life.  Smile

Thanks!
