Hello community,
I received the above notebook for my birthday 2 weeks ago, and have had nothing but issues since. From random hdd pass "freezing", to incredible difficulty installing linux and getting all portions of the notebook working, it has been a trying experience.
During all my issues getting my dual boot working clean, I decided I would simply run a ubuntu VM within my cleanly running windows. Only to receive the error "AMD-VT available but disabled in bios". Which, of course, there is no option for enabling AMD-VT (or advanced menu in general for that matter).
I have posted in the Acer community support forums, and was told that Acer disables AMD-VT by default on their notebook series, and that there was purposely no option to enable it!!! Even though the cpu specifically allows it! Acer support post
Now after my own research I know that in most cases, for a full bios mod, AMD cpus require some sort of flasher device. Which I do not own. However, there are rumors around the interwebs that some have achieved changing just the desired options (without fully enabling advanced menu) by using EFI shell, or a DOS based boot of some sort. Sadly all of the tutorials I found are quite old, and for other companies, HP dell etc.
Long story short:
I need my linux, and cannot correctly run it dual boot. My AMD-VT is disabled, I have no flasher, but am rather tech saavy, and brave
. What are my options?

DMI Infos HP p6122de Narra 5
Hello,
I just wanted a few days ago to mod my BIOS.
I flashed it and ticked the option DMI Flash.
The update started but stops instantly at the Point DMI Flash.
Now I need to get the Infos for my Award bios.
I already have the AWARD DMI Configuration Editor but I haven't any infos about the chassis serial number, mainboard serial number and the Build ID
I can't even find a option in the tool for the build id, so its empty now.
I typed random numbers in this cases. The model number is correct.
And I am confused, that the HP Logo disappeared, no matter what is ticked in the POST Screen option in the bios settings

Upgrade for HP ProBook 4510s
Searching for upgrade my very low 4510s i´ve found this: https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/3904576
Not many information, but there is a minimum possibility for us, for we can use x9100 with unlocked multiplier in 4510s, i think the better choice is for sell that laptop.
But i was looking for a upgrade and i found two cpus:
t9600 at 8$ in aliexpress.
x9100 in my country at 15€
I dont know what to do. Btw i´m using this laptop because i have to mod my personal one, since i´ve upgraded it from i5 to an i7 with 10+ more tdp (from 35w to 45w), and from dual core to quad core 8 threads... xD. It´s hot...
Hope someone look this thread and answer you about what you need, im needing info, our laptop is so low in stats and hard to find upgrades that are enough for these days.

HP 15-bs025nx BIOS Black Screen
Hi to all the BIOS Gods here,
I came here seeking BIOS GODS help.
1st refer below for a simple specs of my laptop
HP Notebook 15-bs025nx
Core i7-7500u, 12GB RAM, 4GB AMD GPU.
Stupid HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT told that there is a new BIOS update (Version F.24 Rev.A) and stupid me followed along and proceeded with the BIOS update. everything completed 100% without any issues. I made sure that all power is there when the BIOS was updating. Then the Laptop rebooted and a white HP Screen popped up and some BIOS files was updating (as how i can remember it was like 2048 files copying was shown) once that was 100% completed a message popped up saying the laptop will restart and the screen will stay black and i might hear beep sounds. once it restarted thats it GOD BLESS ME..no beep sounds, its just the LED and the CPU fan bumping up and bumps down slow.
I tried all the simple and hard resets.
now that i created the HP recovery flash drive, i removed battery and pressed power button 20-30secs and then inserted the USB (which was formatted with fat32) then inserted the AC power jack, hold down WIN + B, after about 5-10secs, I see the laptop is reading the USB, but after 5secs of reading the USB the laptop shutsdown and auto restarts and starts reading the USB.
I feel like there is some sort of file missing thats why the usb is kept on reading. if i dont insert the USB the CapsLock LED will start blinking (2 fast blinks and 2 slow blinks (2.2))
I extracted the BIOS from the EXE file which i downloaded from the HP DRIVER SUPPORT SITE. but there is 3 BIN files and 3 .s12 files after DECRYPTING. EACH BIN FILE IS 8MB. (Refer the attachment for the BIOS Files after DECRYPTING, I have added the decrypted BIOS files also in a RAR file)
Please help me find the RECOVERY NAME FOR THE BIOS. and also if there is any other TIPS and TRICKS to flash please let me know. Iam not a person with deep knowledge about BIOS or MODDING BIOS.
Thanks

P5K SE (non-EPU) fully modded (AHCI+SLIC+more)
Hello there. I've been rocking my P5K SE since 2008 and it's still alive thanks to this forums. I wanted to share my bios which is a collection from various mods from here.
Currently running Win10 Pro in an SSD on AHCI on a Q6600 with no problems. Posting from it.
Contents:
-1402 original BIOS
-1402 heavily modded, including:
- AHCI
- ASUS SLIC
- Marvell update L75
- Microcode update for Xeons
- New bootlogo
- Asus certificate to use with the SLIC
- Most recent Marvell driver that can be found (eSATA hot swap working)
- Modded Intel AHCI driver from win-RAID
Regarding AHCI, it doesn't need the modded driver. It works fine with MSAHCI, or if you update to ICH9R driver from device manager.
Default BIOS setting are the same from ASUS, I'd recomend setting them right after flashing.

Optiplex BIOS - Mod DMI Table
Hi all,
TL;DR version: .
So I am VERY new to BIOS modification. I really didn't want to go down this path but it looks as it may be my only option. I have a SOHO Core i5 Server that suffered damage to it's mobo after power surge caused by a storm.
As the company is a very small start-up (and I'm talking only months old), my mate asked me if I could keep the repair costs as low as possible.
I went to our local University who have a massive eWaste Recycling container and one of the guys there I used to work with said help yourself. Lo-and-behold I found an Opitplex 9010 that had been stripped of all parts except it's cd-rom, RAM, chasis and mobo, it's the same chipset type so I set it up and success it worked fine!
Only trouble is it has Service Tag, Express Service Code and other details which are still linked to the University. As all the other parts in the Server are still the same and covered under warranty I would like to remove that data so it continues to appear as a generic build machine, mainly for the Windows Server licencing as it needs to be reactivated and it's detecting the service tag and displaying model as Dell OptiPlex 9010.
I have tried the following:
*Flash BIOS to latest version A26 with silent switch '-wipeall':
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER0432635...010A26.exe
http://mickitblog.blogspot.com.au/2011/0...tches.html
*Dell.BIOS.Reset.iso with asset.com/asset209.com using silent switches
*Dell Command Configure command prompt using cctk.exe --svctag
Issues with those tools:
*asset.com & asset209.com appear to not support newer OptiPlex builds (OptiPlex 9010 circa 2013).
*cct.exe --svctag returned a 'read-only' error when trying to mod the file.
*The silent switch '-wipeall' & '-wipeclean' were not recognised with the new Dell BIOS exe updates.
The '-wipeall' switch seems to indicate that it would do what I need [i]"Cleans the DMI Data Area, Password, Service Tag, and Asset Tag". It seems to put the BIOS back to a blank factory type state.
As none of the above has worked it brings me here.
I have looked for a simple GUI to modify the DMI tables in Windows but have been unable to locate any working applications.
I managed to find someone who put their laptop BIOS into 'Manufacturing Level' using a .rom so I'm investigating this as a possible option. I know I'm on A26 but I have managed to obtain an OptiPlex 9010 A25.rom and am wondering if AFUWINGUI would do the job:

I know AMI has a few tools like DMIEDIT & AMIBCP but have been unable to locate any downloads to try them, I ran BiosAgentPlus and it seemed to think it was an AMI BIOS but another user used a tool called 'PhoneixTool' and it reported Insyde/EFI BIOS: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads...st-1343283
Just wondered if any of the experts could provide some advice on how to proceed? I'm at my wits end on this one
