[Request] BIOS file for QNAP TS-509 Pro

$

Would anyone happen to have the BIOS for a TS-509 Pro?

The BIOS Label on the motherboard looks to say:

686 AMIBIOS 1999 WF15 8041

Other than that, nothing to identify the specific one.

BIOS looks to be American Megatrends Inc.

Thank you for your help.

Hello, I hooked up an eGPU with exp gdc through the ePCI slot, which only works if I start the computer with the wifi card in and hotswap after booting up. The system doesn't boot up if I start it with the eGPU.

In advance thank you very much!

Hello,
I have this old Lenovo G505s laptop. I wanted to use its ePCI on which Wifi and Bluetoothe card is connected for another Wifi card. But it seems to not work.  I browsed a lot of threads here and realized even my laptop must be having a locked Bios.

I read about Coreboot too, but tools and hardware I need will take a month to reach me.

Can you please provide me with unlocked Bios which I can flash internally or using pendrive?

Thanks!  Blush

The model is the Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-792G, here's the link to the Bios file:

https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles...09_A_A.zip

Attached is a screenshot of the currently available Bios options.

I'm aware that I'll need to use a clip and flasher to make this happen and willing to try it with a modified Bios.

Thanks in advance

ASUS P5K - BIOS mod for SATA-III-support (SATA 6 Gb/s)

$

Hey guys,

I'm an average PC-user with basic BIOS knowledge/understanding, and I'm still running my PC with ASUS P5K motherboard (AMI Bios running on it) => Intel P35 Chipset with ICH9 Southbridge: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5K/specifications/

I want to thank "camiloml" for enabling/activating AHCI on the primary Southbridge (Bios version 1201) for ASUS P5K motherboard (https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-s...os-for-SSD).
I appreciate your help a lot! :-)

Here my request:
-----------
According to Intel's specifications the ICH9 Southbridge supports 4x SATA 3Gb/s ports (SATA-II).
After I have seen this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SO1IRpZ29Ns (bios modding) on YouTube, I wanted to ask you following:

1. Is it possible to modify/update the BIOS so that the Chipset supports SATA 6Gb/s (SATA-III) - update the firmware with newer drivers or similar?
The SATA-Ports on my motherboard are (physicaly and technicaly) the same as on newer motherboards (e.g. motherboards with Q77, Z97 Chipset and later), so I thought the only differece is the firmware or newer "driver" that allows SATA-III-speed. Or am I wrong in my assumption?

I am fully aware of the fact, that SATA interface has it's technical limit at 6 Gb/s (SATA-III), and that is the reason why the industry switched to PCIe-interface for future SSD technology.

I have read that Hewlett Packard sold notebooks in year 2008 (HP Compaq 8510p) with PM965 Chipset with ICH8M Southbridge, which normally supports SATA 3Gb/s, but HP limited the SATA-speed to 1,5 Gb/s in the BIOS (for different reasons)...

2. Is it possible to modify this old AMI-BIOS (ver. 1201) so that the motherboard supports NVMe protocol?
Or is NVMe support only available on motherboards with UEFI-Bios?

Thank you very much for your help,
Ozzi

Request: Dell XPS One A2420 Xeon Upgrade

$

Hello,

this is my first post here and it starts with a small rework - I hope some people don't know it yet and find it useful.

Socket 775 boards are very common, but mainly used for Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad, which are rather power-hungry. An alternative are Xeon server CPUs, they are better in any way, even need less power - but need the Socket 771. However, it's easy to rework a standard mainboard:

- Mark Pin 1 of the 775 CPU socket
- Cut out the direction notches with a scalpel
- attach one of the Socket 771-771 adapter stickers on the Xeon, they're available on ebay

Now you can use all Socket 775 CPUs and modfied Socket 771 Xeon CPUs, but they can be inserted in any direction. That's why Pin 1 has to be marked very good visible. I made this rework often and it works great. The BIOS has to support the Xeon, but the most mainboards will do it.

Well, now I got the Dell XPS One A2420 for just 120 Euro, in perfect condition. I got the model with the Core 2 Duo E7200 with 2.53 GHz, but I've upgraded it to 4 GB RAM (8 GB soon), and a 1,5 TB harddrive. Today I installed a Xeon L5430. Let's compare the specs of the XPS One versions:

Dual XPS One A2420: Core 2 Duo E7200, 2.53 GHz, 3 MB L2-Cache, FSB 1066 MHz, 65W TDP
Quad XPS One A2420: Core 2 Quad Q8200, 2.33 GHz, 4 MB L2-Cache, FSB 1333 MHz, 95W TDP
Xeon XPS One A2420: Xeon L5430, 2.66 GHz, 12 MB L2-Cache, FSB 1333 MHz, 50W TDP

So, there's really no reason for using a Core 2 Something? The best Xeon you can get is the Xeon E5472 with 3.00 GHz, FSB 1600 MHz and 80W TDP. These processors were used in the Mac Pro. The Xeon E5450 also has 3 GHz, but a FSB of 1333 MHz. So this would be an equivalent to the Core 2 Quad Extreme QX9560, but this one has a TDP of 130W. So again a win for the Xeon.

But as you can imagine, the BIOS of the Dell XPS One A2420 doesn't support the Xeon correctly. It is displayed in the BIOS, the internal diagnostics utility detects all four cores. But I'm only using OSx86, and the heat sensors are measuring around 60°C on each core, so the fan is spinning like crazy. The heatsink over the CPU stays cool. The harddisk is also shown up to 59°C, do other XPS One users have similar values? So I presume there is a BIOS modification neccessary. Of course I found this thread and checked out the ACPI information list, but I have no experiences with this. i also have no Windows installed, just OSx86. It works fine on the XPS A2420, WLAN, LAN, I have drivers for everything up to 10.9.5. I don't use never versions because they're too slow. Just the graphics card isn't working correctly.

So, my request would be a BIOS for the Dell XPS One A2420 with Xeon support. It should support at least four Xeons. All of them have four cores, 12 MB L2-Cache and a FSB of 1333 MHz, except the E5472. The support for the low-power Xeons is very important.

Xeon L5420, 2.5 GHz, Low-Power 50W, CPUID 10676 (SLARP), 1067A (QFVZ, SLBBR)
Xeon L5430, 2.66 GHz, Low-Power 50W, CPUIDs
Xeon E5450, 3.00 GHz, Standard 80W, CPUIDs 10676 (SLANQ), 1067A (QFUF, SLBBM)
Xeon E5472, 3.00 GHz, FSB 1600 MHz, Standard 80W, CPUIDs 10676 (SLANR), 1067A (QFTD, SLBBH)

The price is around 20-30 Euro, except the L5420 which is already available for less than 10 Euro! So the Xeon rework is really a good idea - if a compatible BIOS exists.

Thanks in advantage,

naquaada.

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I can really use you guys help as I am stuck at my first trial on modding the BIOS.

My goal is to unlock all menus and option in Bios setup

I download and used to HP Bios updater to save the Bios file. There are 2 files. Then I loaded the first one in AMIBCP, changed all tabs and options to USER. However, I found a post (forget the link) about AMIBCP corrupting Bios save.

My questions are:

1. Should I use a hex editor instead of AMIBCP?
2. How can I flash the Bios after modding it?

I have attached the 2 bios files below. Any help will be very much appreciated.

BTW, there are two .sig files following the BIOS files. I think may be the Bios will check the bios with the sig file when flashing.
