No mod, just how to extract plain binaries to flash with external programmer

Hi everyone,

I've been reading different threads and learnt a lot. I'll start with a simple question and then give all the details because I've got a certain tendency to speak too much Wink

I want to extract binaries from a Dell update file but when I process it with phoenixtool the output is a 10679K file while the motherboard has two chips:

if I use the usual procedure forcing the update with /s /f, the update utility only does the EC part skipping the three steps before:

-          System BIOS
-          Management Engine Firmware
-          Intel® ME FW Upgrade
-          EC BIOS

forgot to mention: tried to create the .exe file from bios.gz with DCCU but after showing the first page, when I browse to the file and click on create the server looks dead (file too big?)

So I have this mobo Asrock g31m-gs rev 1.1 and plan to use it till I decide to really upgrade. I bought a E5640 to replace the core2duo. should've bought a X5460...? Undecided   I'm posting to see if anyone here has done the bios mod already for this board. would appreciate it if you'd share it. thanks Heart

Unlocked BIOS request for Acer Veriton M430G

Hello!

I'd like to request an unlocked BIOS for my computer "Acer Veriton M430G".
It's a pre-built computer with OEM motherboard (according to AIDA64 it was made by Foxconn, but it's a custom motherboard for this computer), which sadly comes only with some quite basic BIOS options (you can see them in the attached manual), so it's not possible to overclock the CPU from the BIOS, which'd be very important for me.

So, I would like to request a modded/unlocked BIOS for this computer, with support for:
- CPU overclocking by FSB or/and Multiplier (that's the most important)
- RAM overclocking (not very important, but it'd be good to have this option)
- Other Advanced Settings, which should be in the BIOS, but they aren't visible (not very important, but would be good)

I currently have the official BIOS "P01.B4", downloaded directly from Acer support website, and it's 100% working (but of course it doesn't have any option for OC):

Lenovo U510 BIOS Update

Hello,

I want to update the BIOS of my laptop Lenovo U510. The BIOS platform is the InsydeH20 BIOS. I got a ROM update file, but no Insyde-Flash program. There also isn't any BIOS-Update Utility available for download on the Lenovo website. How can i update my BIOS with only this ROM file?

Hello;
I have to change minipci wifi from lenovo by intel, but white list will not let me. The manipulation of the bios is a delicate work, and tested, and removed bios intel minipc wifi, and read the bios, but I do not know how to modify it.
I changed the vendor id and recognized it well but I can not install it.

necesito hacer que funcione en mi viejo lenovo una tarjeta intel 4965, pero no tengo muy claro como modificar bios, y no e consguido ayuda.
Lo que e echo es leer el bios de intel y modificarla para que mi lenovo la reconozca, pero mi trabajo esta a medias, y no se lo que estoy haciendo mal.
E cambiado los datos de intel y e conseguido que lenovo trabaje, pero el OS lo reconoce como otro hardware, como tengo que hacerlo?

Hi, I am looking to modify the ACER VN7-791G-762X VBIOS and detail the steps taken in a clear consistent manner. Sadly I have not successfully modified a VN7 VBIOS yet but I strongly believe we can done it with strong contributions of our community.

Tools i am using, one of the most recent version of fpt and FTK, Phonenixtool266, MaxwellBiosEditor and the flash file (isflash.fd) from BIOS 1.13 for the ACER VN7-791G from the official Acer website. 

I have packed them for convenience here: http://www.filedropper.com/tools_2

  • Open Tools/phonixtool266/PhoenixTool.exe (run as admin)
  • Select the bios(click the 2 dots button in the Original BIOS field)
  • Select Tools/isflash_original.fd -> Open
  • Status will change to "WORKING..." once done a DUMP file will be created in Tools/
  • There are two 102KB ROM files that Maxwell Editor can open, one with a creation date of 06.05.14 (908708D4-1836-4396-A06D-526006C66361_1816.ROM) and 908708D4-1836-4396-A06D-526006C66362_1822 with a creation date 11.27.14 - I can only assume the latest one is better.
  • After editing the BIOS setting you can select "Save BIOS" you can see this ROM file has been edited as the date modified will be current when looking in windows explorer.
  • At this point you can go back to the Phoenix tool and click "Go" this will "repack" and create a new .fd file in the same folder the Original BIOS .fd file was loaded. NOTE: The only way I was able to repack was by going to advanced and ticking "No SLIC" as there is no ACER SLIC BIN file provided.
  • Put your computer to sleep and wake it back up (this remove the write protection)
  • At this point open a command prompt as administrator navigate to WHEREVER YOU STORED TOOLS ON YOUR PC\Tools\FTK10\Windows\
  • type fptw -f nameofthenewfdfile.fd -bios, you will be told the sizes don't match. this is the case even when trying to flah with the original bios.
  • If you get a protected error, put your computer to sleep and wake up then try the command prompt commands again.
  • All that needs to be done now is restarting the PC
I am not sure if when you get prompted with unmatching file sizes if you should select no or yes to truncate, if anyone has completed the process successfully please advised the selection made and any other additional selections made.

FPT Backup Errors

So, I have gone through [censored] and have yet to find an answer. I'm trying to mod my Lenovo Y510p for the Wifi Card Upgrade. The problem is I cannot get my backup of my bios. 

Bios type: 
W25QQ16BV
W25Q32BV

Here are my results:

Not only did I try to run FPTw64.exe but I also tried: FPT_Backup_95

but it also gave me Error 26. It says it succeeded at the bottom and said backup complete but does the error mean it's invalid/corrupt?
Note: The file back64bios.bin appeared. Is that the backup?

Error 26: The Host CPU does not have read access to the target flash area. To enable read access for this operation you must modify the descriptor settings to give host access to this region

HP not powering off/not restarting, how to downgrade bios?

Hello,
 I have an HP Probook 4530S and after bios update to F61 somehow i noticed it does not power off/restart anymore, it can only be done by the button.
By the way i have windows 10 pro and in some forums they said there is an issue with win10 pro and power options but this happened to me even trying to restart mini xp/7 from hiren's boot so i think it can be a bios issue.
can anybody show me how to downgrade easily?

Hi. I have an HP laptop with an nVidia GPU. The GPU is set to downclock when it reaches the temperature of 67°C. I would like to increase this temperature by accessing advanced options in my BIOS. Is it possible? Here is the link to the original BIOS:

Hello. I need to unlock my bios to change settings such as switching my default gpu from internal to the mini PCIe eGPU setup i've made.
