Copy BIOS or change MAC with programmer

Hello,

Firstly, let me say if someone can assist me with this problem I'm willing to pay/donate.

I'll try to keep it short...

We have an Asrock Fatal1ty X99M motherboard with 2x 1.00 BIOS chips, but to support the CPU we have we need 3.1 or greater. Of course we couldn't upgrade the BIOS as the computer would not even POST.
I purchased an updated BIOS chip off ebay, that got it working but on every boot it gives the error about the MAC address being wrong. We can go past this and the computer runs fine..it seems.

But we really need to get rid of this error. I have purchased a CH341A programmer to maybe fix this but it aint easy!

Either I need to copy the MAC off one of the original 1.00 BIOS chips and copy/rewrite the MAC address to the new 3.1 BIOS chip.

Or maybe download the latest BIOS from the asrock site and rewrite to one of the original 1.00 chips that should hold the MAC address...?

Any help is appreciated. I sometimes enjoy the challenge of figuring these things out myself but I think I'm ready just to get someone who has been through this kind of thing to help me with it.

ASUS P5LD2 Deluxe BIOS mod problem.

Dear sorry to bother you,
   I tried with MM Tool 3.22 to modify the 702 Beta BIOS of Asus P5LD2 Deluxe to add micro code for Core2Duo.

I do have two problems:
1) Despite I add new micro-code without changing the CPU, I obtain the error "CPU micro update error";
2) In general the procedure to add micro code data seems to be buggy with the tool MM tool 3.22. If take BIOS, add the micro code update and save it I can obtain bios-mod1.rom, if I re-do the same exact procedure and save it again I have bios-mod2.rom. But then If I execute binary compare of the two files they are different. Is this normal?

Would you recommend to use a different tool to add micro code updates for AMI BIOS?

hello,

i have to do a phoenix bios recovery. crisis needs a wph-file, my original bios is a rom-file. do i have to convert something or is it enough to change the extension?

Hallo All. Question? I bought this MB, Gigabyte Z170X Gaming G1, 2 months ago. Updated the Bios recently to f20b and now I am stuck with a bios that locked out my SLI and external graphics cards. Only internal graphics operable. Is there a possibility that you can just mod a previous bios version to trick the machine that the Bios is new or a newer version to except the flash of it. According to Gigabyte you cannot load a old bios back onto the board. If you cannot trick the machine with a old bios can you mod the new bios to fix the SLI issue, this way I think will take longer to figure out, I will include a Bios that was stable on my machine....also the new one that cause the problem, maybe you can see the issue better.  How this exactly work you would know better. Thanx a lot for the help.....do appreciate it.....wanna game and can't because Gigabyte still didn't release a never version of bios. They say they are working on it. The f7 is the stable one and the f20b the faulty one. Thanx a mill for the help. JJ

UPDATE.

NEW Z170XGamingG1.F20d bios that resolve PCIE slot loss. New bios fix previous graphics port error.

Hi, i would like to ask if there is possible way to get AM3+ CPUs on GA-890FXA-UD5 rev2.0. I think it is possible because rev3.0 and 3.1 of this board can handle AM3+ CPUs and there is only one difference that 3.0 and 3.1 both have got space for 2MB BIOS but 2.0 and 2.1 have got only 1MB so i ask here if it is possible somehow modify BIOS of 2.0 and 2.1 board to AM3+ support or modify 3.0 and 3.1 to smaller size. Thanks for help.

I am requesting the microcode for the X5470 xeon be added to the attached bios for a Dell Inspiron 518. These bios are the most current and have been edited once by member DeathBringer to fully support the X5450.

I have tried to edit these bios a long time ago but I remember Dell locked these bios up tight and I could not get entry to edit them. If your out there DeathBringer your my man!!!

Lenovo W530 Hardware Flash Tools?

Hi guys,

So I've got a W530 in the mail, hopefully it'll arrive very soon.

I've been looking around on how to flash the BIOS via hardware. Am I correct to say that an EZP2010 SPI EEPROM Flash Tool will do the job?

I was also going to buy an SOIC8 Flash Clip so I didn't have to remove the chip from the PCB. (If I need to provide a 3.3v external supply I can do this).

Also just in case anyone knows, not too long ago I was writing/reading one of the EEPROM chips on a T520 to read out the SVP. I created this device:

Can I use this to read/write the BIOS chip? I have R24RF08 (Read) and W24RF08 (Write) software from here: http://www.allservice.ro/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47

It worked fine for read/write T520 SVP EEPROM Storage Chip (PS08A) http://wallyoz.smugmug.com/photos/i-7PGV...zc2-XL.jpg

I'm not sure if the BIOS is stored on a standard EEPROM? If it is I could probably dump the BIOS and write BIOS with this software. Could it work?

Lenovo Z50-70 whitelist removal

Hi,

I found a thread about Z50-70 bios mod for whitelisting, but I did not want to use that as its risk and have no experience do this. Wanted to take some experience help from here. I know this laptop has sleep bug to flash the modified bios on v26, but my laptop has v91 bios. I want to modify v91 for whitelist and then downflash v26 to flash this modified v91 files. Does this work ?

Please guide and ask me what you need from me for this.

[TUTORIAL] Fujitsu Esprimo LGA775 CPU Microcode Update

I have tested this method on few different motherboard models.

You can run Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E8400 on Fujitsu d2840 A1 motherboard for example.

  1. You have to just find another similar motherboard which support your new CPU. I choose D2950.
  2. Download bios for both motherboards from: http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/IndexDownload.asp
  3. Copy two files from newer MB: P6_INTEL.ALL and P6_INTEL.TXT and replace in your correct bios.
  4. Flash the bios with switch /p6
    bioflash.exe /p6
Other switches for bioflash:
