Alienware 17 + 4700mq unlock

Hello everyone, 

Sorry for the immediate post right after account creation but I've just been so excited cause of my new laptop and I can't wait to start tinkering on it!

I've recently acquired an alienware 17 secondhand with an i7 4700mq in it.

I've also been very interested in this thread over at techinferno:

Seeing as the alienware 17 has a good cooling solution, I'd love to know if this is possible with an insyde bios. 
I've tried following the steps described in the thread but since he's using an AMI bios, I get stuck at the 4th step.

If it helps, here is a reference bios directly from Dell. I've also linked the zip in attachements.

MSI GT72 6QD bios unlock

Hello!
I wish to unlock the OC (just for testing) and other menus in my bios..
But I have a few questions...

1) I downloaded afuwin 3.5.4 dumped firmware.
2) run amibcp 4.55..which crashed on saving.. so I downloaded afuwin 5.03 which worked.
3) in amibcp I just selected SETUP and on the right column modified OC from default to USER.
4) saved bios.

Is this the correct procedure? Do I flash it with afuwinx64 again?

Attached the original (1782.rom) and modified (1782oc) bios.

Hi, everyone.

Notebook Lenovo V360.
I have bought new card Dell Wireless 5530 HSPA 3G GPS Mini-Card WWAN.
Bout it doesn't work because of whiteilist.
I have found this request and this bios. Flashed bios with this command phlash16.exe /x /s /mode=3 2DCN22WW.wph, but it still doesn't work.
As i understood only whitelist for WI-FI cards was removed from this bios.
Could you please also remove whitelist for 3G cards from this bios?

Hi,

I have a Fujitsu T734 and I want to install a WWAN sierra EM7355 or EM8805 in it. Their is no WIFI whitelist. Kindly point me in right direction as to how to get the bios dumps...

I replaced the intel 7260N wifi with a Bcm94353hmb- Wifi is working; BT is inactive, not showing up on device manager.


@ BDMASTER : This laptop is very similar to the T734 pls see your previous work here ( https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...val?page=4 )..... The implementations will mostly be the same.... Just that you would need my BIOS dump...

I need help with my laptop bios

I was updating bios on my sony vaio vgn fw488j and it doesn't work anymore and now I am trying to fix it and I have the bios.ROM file and it won't fit on a floppy. I have already tried putting the rom and on a cd drive and usb rive and pressing the ctrl + home key and it didn't reflash it any ideas on what to do.

Hello guys, can someone unlock my BIOS?

I just need access advanced menu because I bought 16gb Ram and now i can increase my DVMT pre-allocated to 2gb instead of 1gb by default. And overclock if it's possible.

Hi, I bought a new motherboard for my Lenovo IdeaCentre A740. When I start it always comes the error message "Error 00CE: Machine Type and Serial Number are invalid Manufacturing Boot Sequence willbe taken if no selection is made". I have tried on the hardware disk Maintaince enter the serial number that had not worked, there was always Eeprom Overflow. Now I'm getting stumped what I can do. Can someone help me here?Sorry for my English!

Problems modding Shuttle SN68SG2 Award bios.

Hi all,

I have an old Shuttle SN68SG2 system, which I'd like to put two floppy drives in....to archive old disks for retro computers.

The hardware on the motherboard of this machine supports two floppies, and if I boot into Linux and tell it's floppy driver that there is a second drive there it will access it successfully.

However there is only the option for one floppy in the BIOS, so I took a copy of the latest bios and used modbin on it and enabled the option for a second floppy. Whilst I was about it I also added back the options for 1.2MB and 360K drives.....

I flashed the updated bios and all went well I can go into the bios, the option for a second drive is there and I can enable the second drive without problems. I exit the normal way using save settings and exit, but the second drive is still not detected Sad Going back into the bios it's settings have been reset to 'none'.


I even tried directly edititing the cmos ram with out instructions from DOS, remembering to set the checksum at $2F correctly too. But on reboot the settings get reset.

Does anyone have any clue what might be causing this?

Dell Optiplex 980 sff

Hi,

is there a bios or could you make a bios for Dell Optiplex 980 (MB0106 0C522T) that allows me to use the Xeon cpu's?
That way I could use the less costly xeons with a small modification on my lga1156 mb, instead of the i7-875K...

I have 2x4gb 1600Mhz DDR3 Mushkin (997005) rams, none of them works, bios won`t recognize them. The mainboard itself support up to 16GB DDR3, but only a select few is on the official supported list. Can anyone add newer ram support for the bios? This could be really helpfull. Thanks in advance.

Swap Ctrl and FN DELL Latitude E5550

Hello everybody,

first of all sorry for my ignorance. I am new to bios modding.
I have a new laptop (DELL Latitude E5550) after having only used Thinkpads for years. That is why I am used to having the FN key all the way down in the left corner of the keyboard. I also still use an external thinkpad keyboard at home which has this layout.

Is there any way to modify the bios to swap the Ctrl and the FN key?

As i was not quite sure how to find out anything about the bios I attached a picture of the tool's "biosagentplus" output.

The latest bios can be downloaded from the dell website.

Hi all,

I have a very old IBM ThinkPad Z60m (almost 11 yrs old) and I wish to use a 3rd party wireless card. Therefore, a modified bios is needed. I have conducted a thorough and careful search both online and in this forum, but nothing useful is revealed. A previous solution in this forum is not accessible as the file is deleted by the online storage service provider. Please help me out with this bios modification.

Apart from the whitelist issue, a SLIC 2.1 installation is also needed. Also, the original bios supports screen resolution up to 1680*1050, I would like to know whether the gurus could add a 1920*1200 (WUXGA) support to the bios. Do I need to post a separate thread in other boards?
