Asus 1201HA : bluetooth problem (+ unlock bios?)

Hello guys,

First, I hope I am posting in the good one section Big Grin

Second, I need your help -of course, or I am not posting - with my BIOS : I have an ASUS eeePC 1201HA (last BIOS version gave by Asus) and I have a new card, Intel Corporation Wireless 3160, so dual bluetooth/wifi (this card is working, I used it on my MSI ge60 2PL-075FR and everything was fine, inclued the bluetooth). I installed the card : wifi is working fine (with Windows and Archlinux), but I can't use bluetooth !
The bluetooth componant isn't detected, so I don't understand. I checked my drivers on Windows and Archlinux, but nothing just I can't see the bluetooth module in my systems.

So, I would like have a new BIOS if possible, with a complete support of this chipset (Intel Corporation Wireless 3160) because I think it is the problem (but maybe I am wrong ?) and a unlocked BIOS please, it could be nice !

Best regards.

PS : here is my actual BIOS version : http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePC/1...1459457197

Lenovo Yoga 2.11 Wireless / Bluetooth "Unauthorized" WiFi

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2.11 (Model 20428) that has only a 2.4GHz WiFi/Bluetooth Card.  I ordered a Dual Band, and it says "Unauthorized Wireless Card Detected - Please Power off and remove it" after POST.  I've seen many articles on Google and here about the white list.  Some flip a bit in the CMOS, which I'd be happier to do than a hard BIOS mod, as it is less risky (can always remove CMOS battery, rather than having to find an ICSP or JTAG my BIOS.  Does anyone know of this tool, where I can download (without the stupid getmyfile.org that makes you fill out surveys and doesn't let you download anyway)?  If you have any ideas, please let me know.  I'm a technically inclined Electronics Engineer, I just don't have the time to play around and mod it myself through trial-and-error.  Lenovo has a later BIOS available, but I won't install until I know (updates usually means they have 'Security' updates), yeah, security against letting me "Choose to do, with MY PROPERTY, whatever I so desire". LoL.  No offense intended, I'm talking Electronics here.

BIOS (Current) Version: AACN94WW ; EC (Current) Version: AAEC94WW

BIOS v2.36 for Lenovo T440s allows to use an unauthorized Wi-Fi module

I have a public non-branded version of Intel 7260AC Wi-Fi module and used it for 2 years with a patched BIOS v2.19 on my Lenovo T440s (flashed by an external tool with desoldering the chip). Recently I've decided to upgrade the BIOS and prepared to patch v2.36, but was surprised by the fact that it works fine without any patch. I thought Lenovo eventually stopped the whitelisting, but yesterday I've installed v2.37 and my laptop stop booting with the well-known message about unauthorized Wi-Fi module. Then I've flashed back original v2.36 and everything is fine again.

I've unpacked several last BIOS versions for T440/T440s. In the range 2.32-2.36 there is the same LenovoWmaPolicyDxe.efi module of 4.2kb. Before 2.32 and after 2.36 there is another LenovoWmaPolicyDxe.efi module of 4.8kb, but also the same. To make things more clear I've digged into the LenovoWmaPolicyDxe.efi from 2.32-2.36 and I can say the whitelisting code looks like a sort of mess, but not a valid code. Also this mess looks unreferenced anywhere. So, most probably all of v2.32-v2.36 allow to install unbranded Wi-Fi modules (not just v2.36).

So if you have Lenovo T440 or T440s and BIOS v2.36, then you probably may install any Wi-Fi module. This is a good chance if you not familiar with soldering/patching.
To give it a try here is original v2.36 BIOS for T440/T440s
https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/gjuj23us.txt
https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/gjuj23us.exe
If your BIOS is newer, then you will need to disable the Secure rollback prevention feature in the Setup to be able to downgrade.

Here is info for v2.37. We can see that 2.37 fixes several serious bugs. So be aware of them if you decide to stay on v2.36.
https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/gjuj24us.txt

It would be nice if somebody can confirm this with other Wi-Fi modules and also discover this bug on other Lenovo models.

ASUS Eee PC X101CH UEFI Windows installation

Hello!
I have this not so old ASUS (model manufactured in Q3/2012) and trying to install Windows (7, 8.1u3, 10/x86) with GPT running on UEFI but:
1. When i start installation from USB in UEFI mode it goes best with Windows 10 TH2, because setup is starting fully, but after selecting partitions it start with copying files (first step) and then suddenly after some time LCD goes off, HDD stops working and that's all. I can only hard power off.
2. Installing x64 Windows is not possible because x64 operations are blocked in this mboard (Chipset  and CPU support it -ark intel).
Here is link to AMI BIOS, i hope for some help, maybe mod of bios that will help fully run UEFI installation. I was trying before adding drivers to boot.wim of installation disc, but i will try again (looks like ACPI or AHCI problem?).

[Solved] Asus eeepc 1000hgo windows 10?

Hi everybody,

I tried to upgrade my Eeepc 1000HGo to Windows10 (win7 pro is running; BIOS v. 0703). Installation fails with message "Your PC is not able to run Windows 10". It seems to miss the "NX" (NoExecute)- Bit. In BIOS settings are no possibility to activate that bit.

For my wife's Eeepc 1000H I solved the same problem with upgrading the bios to v. 2204.

Unfortunately, v. 0703 is the last bios for the 1000HGo.

So here are my questions:
1. Has anybody modded the BIOS 0703 for setting the nx-bit enable (or can do that)? or
2. Can I flash over the 0703 with the 2204 (by renaming the file from 1000h.rom to 1000hg.rom or will this destroy my device?

Hope somebody can help me, I really love my 1000HGo (3g-modem inside...)

Thanks a lot, Mirko

AHCI enable on Asus EeePC 1002HA - puhlease....

G'day,

I recently installed a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD into my ASUS EeePC 1002HA and ran the Samsung Magician software - which informed me that AHCI is disabled for SSD and that the system must boot in AHCI mode for best performance.

However, the standard BIOS Version 1004 does not have the option to select AHCI....

CPU & Chipset are Intel Atom N280 & Intel 945GSE / ICH7-M, which should support AHCI from what I have read in this forum.

I have been following similar threads on this site where AHCI was expertly exposed for the 1000HE amongst other Eee PC's and would be extremely grateful if a BIOS modding guru could show me the way to enlightenment....

Also interested in possible BIOS overclocking mods that may be available for the 1002HA - I have found an option using SetFSB but I reckon a BIOS mod would be superior.

Great website and thanks to all who take the time to read this thread....

Cheers,

G

[Request] Acer Aspire E1-522 Whitelist removal (BIOS_Acer_2.09_A_A, RXBI0209)

Hi!

I've decided to upgrade the WiFi card of my Acer Aspire E1-522, since it didn't support 5GHz net.
But, as you might have guessed, it isn't whitelisted (I have come here after searching WHY it won't work.)

Reading the info on how to make a request, aswell as searching if such has been made already, I wan't to make a request hereby.

Original BIOS from manufacturer:

http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/...SC=EMEA_24

In hopes of reaching the whitelist I have enabled the Hidden Menu, but I am not comfortable doing Hexediting (and it gives me problems, I cannot find the adress I need and EzHO2 is giving me error messages.) - that would indicate (no?) that it is not RSA signed, since it has not produced any errors when I've fiddled in BIOS after editing.

PCI ID of original device: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&CC_0280

edit: While testing, I noticed that the ASUS G73SW I also have, has whitelist aswell, does not want to use the card from the Acer, but it can use the new one I bought for it aswell. If anyone is interested, I could dump the BIOS from the ASUS G73SW aswell - it is edited to use hardware AES, which stock-BIOS cannot use, incase someone wants to use it?

Teazle

I Hope I do this right if not please let me know and I'll try again,

I have an old tablet of mine that I want to upgrade a little as serves me great, it's an old TC1100, only real problem is that it's got a intel 2100b wifi card and I want to replace it with a Atheros AR9220 to give it a bit more speed and range. I tried to find a mod made previously by "TTAV134" but was unable to, I also looked at being able to mod it myself but don't have the confidence or even anywhere close to understanding how to disable the whitelist so Thought I would as you nice people if you could help.

The Original Bios update is in a file called sp30961.exe for the Dos Floppy version and sp30960 for the Windows flasher version (attached) and both are located Here BIos Update link Here

hopefully someone can help and thank you in advance

Razer Blade Stealth BIOS unlock requset

Hi there! I've got a Razer Blade Stealth with an AMI Aptio V UEFI BIOS that I'd like to unlock. I already dumped the ROM, but I can't seem to get anywhere with AMIBCP and other tools myself. When I extract what I believe is the Setup module and look at the extracted IFR, I don't actually see any menu options listed. Perhaps my dump isn't complete? Either way, I'd like some help!

Unfortunately, Razer doesn't seem to publish BIOS on their website, and I haven't been able to find anything else with Google. I did take a dump of it with afuwingui and will attach it. Any assistance would be appreciated!

EDIT: Apparently my upload was bad. Here's a Dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a306zdkoktgdrq...n.rom?dl=0
