ASUS P7P55D-E LX - Intel Option ROM - DMAN999

Hi Folks,

I have an ASUS P7P55D-E LX that I'm not looking to retire any time soon. DMAN99 did a really good job of it for me originally over here;

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-P...8#pid46228

Since then Asus released a newer BIOS for it (almost certainly their last release) and Intel has released much newer Option ROM's for it as well (I have no idea what the latest is).

I know the existing version has these things in it;

Intel Raid ORom Updated to 11.1.0.1413
Marvell RAID Rom Updated to 1.0.0.1029
JMicron RAID Rom Updated to 1.07.1028
Realtek PXE Updated to 2.47

But I bet they are all behind as well? I've got an 8TB drive coming (this is my media center PC) and I'd like to nail down all the BIOS issues if possible. I think it would also be nice to see a 'final' release of this popular board/BIOS.

According to Asus the board has;
P55 Chipset
[font='Segoe UI', 微軟正黑體, 'Microsoft JhengHei', Arial, 新細明體]JMicron® JMB361[/font]
[font='Segoe UI', 微軟正黑體, 'Microsoft JhengHei', Arial, 新細明體][b][font='Segoe UI', 微軟正黑體, 'Microsoft JhengHei', Arial, 新細明體]Marvell® PCIe SATA 6Gb/s controller[/font][/font][/b]

NEC® USB 3.0 controller[/font][/font][/font][/b][/font][/b]

Anyway, don't know if anyone can help but the latest (and last) BIOS for it can be found here;

[REQUEST] Lenovo X121e WiFi whitelist

Good morning,

I'd like to install a Intel 7260 wireless/bluetooth into my Lenovo x121e, but when I install it i get an error saying there is an unsupported device, so from what I understand I need a BIOS which has been whitelisted, to allow other cards. I have looked on the site, but all the links to the modded BIOS are dead, would you please help.

My laptop is a Lenovo x121e, type 3045CTO, currently running Windows 10 Pro, 8GB Ram, and 250GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD. BIOS version is 8QET58WW (1.19). Unfortunately I don't know which BIOS manufacturer this is, sorry.

I would greatly appreciate your assistance, ans I don't know which BIOS and how to install it, thanks for your help.

Kind regards
Jo

Laptop Jumpers

Hey everyone! I wasn't exactly sure where to put this, so I thought the general discussion would be good.

I have been trying to change a bios setting for some time now, and hit a wall with the BIOS write protection (I have an HP m7-n109dx with InsydeH2O Rev. 5.0). Before I go the SPI programming route, I thought I'd check the motherboard one last time, and came across a couple jumpers: JME1 and JCMOS1. The JCMOS1 is for clearing the CMOS, but I'm not so sure what the JME1 jumper does or how to use it correctly. I shorted it, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Searching google has come up with it being related to Intel ME, but I can't find anything that tells me how to use it. Anyone have any ideas? Please see attached image.

Bios whitelist removal howto

Disclaimer

This is a DANGEROUS procedure and it may damage your laptop if you make mistakes. It worked for me and some friends so I decided to share it.
Use the informations contained in this document at your own risk, I take no responsibility for any damage.

Prerequisites
  • Windows installed on your laptop

  • Bios 9ACN26WW installed on your laptop

  • Universal Bios Backup Toolkit (google for it)

  • Andy’s Phoenixtools

  • A good hex editor like HxD

  • ftpw.exe or fptw64.exe depending on you win version (google for it)
If you have a newer bios installed you can downgrade it: in bios setup enable the Bios Back Flash option and flash the required version (9ACN26WW).
Once you have the proper version installed, load the default settings before proceeding. You can adjust some options but DO NOT CHANGE the Graphic Device related options.

Backup Bios

Execute Universal Bios Backup as administrator and backup your actual bios. You will get a file called LENOVO-9ACN26WW.rom , it’s your bios image.
Put it in an empty folder we will use as workspace.

Decompile and Modify Bios

Launch PhoenixTool.exe and open your bios image with it.

[Image: image01.png]

Your image is now being extracted, be patient and press OK to the two info popup.
When the extraction process finishes, in the Manufacturer dropdown list choose Lenovo and once done press the Advanced button. In the Options window check the options marked with red in the image

[Image: image05.png]

Press Done. You’ll go back to the previous window where you have now to press Go. Wait until it finishes working and shows you this message:

[Image: image06.png]

DO NOT PRESS OK YET!!!!
Open the workspace folder where LENOVO-9ACN26WW.rom was and you should find the DUMP directory, navigate into it and look for a file named 11D378C2-B472-412F-AD87-1BE4CD8B33A6_xxxx.ROM .
There will be more than one file with the same name except for the _xxxx part,
open the bigger one (7k) with the hex editor.

[Image: image07.png]

We are now going to modify the bios, be sure to edit the correct bytes.
At the offsets 2F9, 322 and 366 you will find the value 74, it represents a conditional jump instruction in assembly, change it to EB which is an unconditional jump instruction. When executed it won’t perform the WWAN and WLAN whitelist checks. The next two images will show you the file before and after the edit:

[Image: image08.png][Image: image09.png]

if you found the very same values and modified the file as instructed, save the file and close the hex editor.
You can now press OK on the PhoenixTool popup. It will repack your bios and after a while you will find LENOVO-9ACN26WW_SLIC.rom besides the backup one in the workspace folder. This is your whitelist free bios image.

Flash Modified Bios

Rename LENOVO-9ACN26WW_SLIC.rom to bios.bin and copy it in the same folder where fptw64.exe is. Open a CLI window as administrator, navigate to the folder where ftpw64.exe and bios.bin are and type:
Code:
fptw64.exe -f bios.bin -bios
Press Enter and wait until it ends.
Cross your fingers and reboot.
If you did everything properly your Lenovo G50-70 is now whitelist free.
Remember to enable wifi in the bios setup [Image: icon_e_wink.gif]

I wish to thank donovan6000 for his excellent guide. Although there are many differences in the bios code it puts me in the right direction.

Hi Guys!

I have a Acer M5-481PT and a some months ago after I upgrade the Bios to version 2.22 from Acer Support I can't more enter with F2, asked me for a password what I don't put and nobody knows. Ok! I rollback to version 1.15 with .FD file and this version don't have UEFI support. I try several times upgrade to version 2.xx without success. With 2.xx versions of .FD files when I boot with usb flash (pendrive) nothing happens. I try with 2.16, 2.20, 2.22. I unlock Bios and clean all passwords with 1.15 version, but now I need go to 2.xx version again. Files like platform.ini or platforms.ini don't works more, they are recreated when "InsydeUtility.exe" is called. Can someone help me?

Thank You!

Motherboard Make/Model: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Version 1.6
Bios Version You Want Modding: FFb, 2010/10/06
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product...7&dl=#bios

Hello and an early thanks for helping. I have modded the newest FFb 2010/10/06 AWARD bios to supporting the 771 to 775 conversion and am am successfully running a Xeon X5470 and E5472. This entailed injecting 3 microcodes to support the 775.

I have been able to install many operating systems, however Windows 10 64bit will not install due to CMPXCHG16b / CompareExchange128 not being supported.

That said, i did read where this might be fixed by updating "all quad core microcode". Unfortunately I have not mastered this skill and am asking for guidance or a modded BIOS to resolve this issue. Any assistance in resolving this would be greatly appreciated!
