Hey all,

Hoping someone can help me out with a patched SLIC 2.1 BIOS.

Made the mistake of building a new PC with Windows 8.1 basic ... and 8.1 Basic is a flaming [censored]. No 64-bit VT-d support (as you can't disabled Hyper-V). I want to put Win7 Ultimate on it like I had with my old PC (used a Dell OEM Win7 Ultimate CD).

Thinking of patching the BIOS myself, but most instructions are sketchy and out-of-date...hoping someone is kind enough to do it for me, or point me to a up-to-date how-to.

Lesson learned: Windows Basic anything is a POS

Is it possible to retrofit legacy booting with a modified BIOS?

Hey everyone! I'm kinda new to this, so please have mercy with me. I have an Intel Bay Trail based tablet - an Odys Windesk x10 - which only supports booting 32-bit UEFI bootloaders. As some of you may know, this causes tons of problems when trying to install Linux, making it essentially impossible, even though I'm experienced on that subject. It would probably be much easier, if I could mod my BIOS/EFI to support legacy BIOS booting. Is that possible?
It is an InsydeH2O rev. 5.0.

Hello there,

Looking for somebody to help me with some issues I am having with an older laptop BIOS that I use for a home server. I would really like to unlock VT-x (Virtualization) I know the current CPU (core 2 duo T7600) can support it but it there is no option in the BIOS.

Another bonus thing I would love unlocked is the BIOS RAM limitation of 3GB. The Chipset (SiS M672) has a maximum memory limit is 4GB so yet again another BIOS limitation. Sad

Unlock A10 AX1000 Server Load Balancer bios

So the software license for this device expired. I am not renewing it, because it cost too much. I changed the hard drive and installed another software (Linux OS) but the unit reboot exactly every 2min 30sec. My guess is the watchdog timer is looking for some code from the A10 software that is no longer in drive. When I put the A10 OS back on, it run fine for days. Most likely a security feature built into this bios.

Problem is this unit's current bios code does not have any option to enter into the bios to modify it. The 2.5 minutes before reboot allow me to boot into freebsd and using flashrom, I was able to read the current bios. See attachment.

I recent learn about this forum and its ability to modify all sorts of bios. Please see if you can open this bios and modify it for me. I'm a newbie in bios editing. But I know a few thing about bios and how to flash/reflash. I have extracted the A10 bios using flashrom. I attempted to use the Phoenix bios editor 2.2.1.3 to open the bios but it error out.

This motherboard is not widely know, because its a netwok appliance, markings on the motherboar: CB-7975 REV.A5
Bios chip contain the following markings: PhoenixBIOS, E686BIOS, 1999-2004 Phoenix, 007374783.

The below flashrom output say the chip is SST49LF008A.

Greetings. I just purchased one of these laptops yesterday, great machines. However most of the BIOS is locked out.
Now i've seen a lot have been unlocked here on your forums so I decided to post mine to see if one already has been done with these specs or if it needs to be custom-done.

Hardware flash/bios programmers supported devices

Hi all,
as many of you, i'm also thinking about hw bios flash by programmer, however, my laptop has got some rare bios chips:
4MB chip: MXIC MX25L3273EM2I-10G 3L798600 L125294
8MB chip: MXIC MX25L6473EM2I-10G 3P039700 L134015
and these are officially supported only by ~$500 and more expensive programmers. Unfortunately, I don't have got much time to learn everything about programmers, chip spec., etc. right now (finishing my school...), so i'm asking here: do you please know which (cheap) programmers should be compatible with these chips?
Or maybe even better - could you direct me what should I look for so i can choose programmer that is able to write that chips - electrical specification of the chips, supported commands, or what?
I found that opensource project flashrom should support these chips, but i'm not sure about how it works, if I can buy programmers for it (yes there is supported device list, but most of it are built it yourself :/ )....
