Help Fan Speed Sabertooth X79

TL;DR
Does anyone know if it's possible to mod the bios of an Asus TUF Sabertooth x79 to allow lower fan speeds than 60 percent.

Hello,
First of all thank you for taking the time to read this.
I have an Asus TUF Sabertooth X79 Motherboard and recently installed some new Case Fans (Arctic P12 Max). Unfortunately they are running way to fast and loud. The fan speed bios options only allow me to set a minimum fan speed of 60 percent. In my infinite wisdom I decided to look into bios modding ( I don't know anything about this ) instead of buying a PWM Fan hub Controller thingy and now I am to proud to give up. After quite a bit of research I found out that I have an AMI Aptio IV (4) uefi bios and that there's a tool for Configuration. After some more Research I found a thread on this Forum that linked me to a Download of AMIBCP 4.5, but not even this tool allows me to set a fan speed below 60 percent. I don't know where to search for Information anymore. Does anyone know if it's possible to mod the bios to allow lower fan speeds.

Thank you in advance.

eGPU for Lenovo G550, needing bios unlock

Hello, my Lenovo G550 can't detect the mPCIe eGPU, so I need my bios unlocked.  Has GL40 motherboard.

I already installed a WL removal bios-mod, so my bios went from original 2.53 to bios-mod 2.55.  I'm linking to the 2.53 backup file that was created during installation.  Or do I need to backup my bios-mod 2.55 and link to that file?

Hi,

I just replaced the GPU N16S-GTR-S-A2 (GeForce 940MX) with N16S-GMR-S-A2 (GeForce 930MX) because laptop was starting with image and GPU was short. So i had to replace it but couldn't find identical so replaced with similar.
Laptop now have image... but don't detected nvidia video card in device manager.
Could be fixed by bios modify or something?
Thank you!

Removing the Dual Bios logo from POST screen

Hi, I have a GA-G31M-ES2L motherboard that has a useful Dual Bios feature. Unfortunately it also comes with a really ugly Dual Bios logo on the POST screen, which I want to remove. May seem like a silly endeavor but it is the only thing standing between me and that nostalgic boot screen I remember from childhood.

I watched a nice video by Bits und Bolts on how to change the top right EPA logo, and I thought I could try something similar.

First step: backup up the current BIOS image. Uniflash doesn't work for my system (I don't think it supports it) - the Flash option itself is disabled, and its BIOS backup to file is incomplete. Next I tried Gigabyte's own @BIOS utility, and that output a 512 KB image which seems to be complete.

Running CBROM to display details of the original BIOS image gives this
Code:

Next I used "cbrom orig.bin /logo1 extract" to extract the EPA file (disguised as a bmp file) to disk. I used EPACoder 1.52 to convert it to a BMP, opened the BMP in paint, colored it all black, and then saved it. When I opened the modified BMP file in EPACoder, I got this: https://imgur.com/a/IEvDHlN ("Non-standard Image dimensions: "BiosLogo.bmp"! Load anyway?" -> OK -> Are you really sure? -> Yes)

My guess is that the dimensions of the energy star EPA logo and the dual bios logo are different, and the EPACoder application has been hardcoded to check if the uploaded BMP's dimension matches the standard energy star logo's dimensions.
Anyways, I convert it back to EPA and saved it. Then I used CBROM to add it back to the BIOS image:

Code:
>cbrom orig.bin /logo1 dbios.bmp
CBROM V2.20 (C)Phoenix Technologies, Ltd 2001 All Rights Reserved.
Adding dbios.bmp  2.0%

where I renamed the modded EPA file to "dbios.bmp" since that's the name the dual bios image file had in the original BIOS image.

The modded BIOS image gives following details in CBROM:
Code:
CBROM V2.20 (C)Phoenix Technologies, Ltd 2001 All Rights Reserved.

When I flash the original image to BIOS using Gigabyte's DOS flash utility, it goes normally and there are no issues. But when I flash the modded image to BIOS using the exact same procedure, I get this: https://imgur.com/s8VkGic ("MAIN BIOS CHECKSUM ERROR!")

I don't understand what's going wrong. The changing compressed size of the logo1 EPA file shouldn't be an issue I think, since even in Bits und Bolts' video, his EPA logo file size changes (compare https://youtu.be/t2MsCUewvNk? si=5zG6BQ8vSP6afdDw&t=406 vs. https://youtu.be/t2MsCUewvNk?si=hKvq2TIw0nCMPXI6&t=424).

Anyone has any idea on how to solve this thing and finally get rid of that dual bios logo? Thanks

[REQUEST] Can I enable my integrated GPU? (Asus K52JR)

Hi everyone Big Grin ,

I’m new here and hoping someone can help me with a BIOS mod to enable my integrated GPU (iGPU). My laptop is an Asus K52JR with an Intel i3-350M processor (1st Gen, @2.27 GHz), which should theoretically have an iGPU. However, on Windows, my system doesn’t detect it, and I can’t find an option to enable it in the BIOS

I’m specifically looking to enable the iGPU for compatibility with macOS, as my discrete GPU (dGPU), ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470, isn’t supported by macOS despite my many attempts to make it work. I believe that activating the iGPU would give me the graphical acceleration I need

Before posting, I searched extensively online for a modded BIOS that might already have this feature but couldn’t find one that allows iGPU activation. I found an unlocked BIOS version, but it doesn’t include an option to enable the iGPU. I’m wondering if this limitation is hardware-based or simply an oversight in the existing mod

Could anyone here tell me if it’s possible to unlock this feature? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!  Tongue
(I am attaching the original BIOS.)

Dell XPS 8900 bios mod - Requesting Kaby Lake compatibility! (Intel 7th Gen)

Dell XPS 8900 motherboards are locked to only work with Skylake CPUs (Intel 6th gen processors). The socket is an LGA 1151 which should be compatible to work with Kaby Lake CPUs (Intel 7th gen processors). Would it be possible to modify the latest Dell bios to unlock this restriction on these motherboards? I have an i7 6700K currently in use with this Dell XPS 8900 that I recently upgraded from an i7 6700. Before this I tried putting an i7 7700K on the socket and the Dell XPS 8900 refused to boot up with this CPU, even with the latest bios update installed. Dell has purposely put this limitation on these Skylake motherboards to make you buy their Intel 200 series chipset PCs and by now their much newer high-spec PCs. There is absolutely no reason why they couldn't allow Kaby Lake CPUs to work on them because Kaby Lake CPUs are made backwards compatible with Z170 chipsets!

(I do not have a Hardware Programmer! I do have a spare motherboard though. I will also wait for others on this site to try out the mod so they can confirm how it's working with this specific OEM motherboard.)

Hey, i happen to have a strange bios related problem with my Nitro n50-620. it has a b560 mobo, but it shows up everywhere as an z690 aorus elite ax... in hwinfo, and even in the bios which makes me come here as i am 100% sure its the bios, ive tried updating the bios, clearing cmos, and diffrent operating systems. the broken specs are just hardstuck everywhere, and an update dosent restore it. im pretty sure my only way is to use an "CH341A EEPROM programer"? which i dont have, nor have any experience with raw bios flashing. it would be nice if someone could take a look into my bios for any hidden menus, or specs information. i guess the factory specs gotta be in the bios update file, but they dont copy as a part of a bios update, it might need a full reflash?

Acer Veriton M480 (G43T-AM4) and Core 2 Quad Q8400

Hi.

I recently bought an Acer Veriton motherboard model G43T-AM4 and an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400. When I put the processor into the motherboard it wont show the BIOS screen and one long beep from the speaker. I have tested the board using few processors and the results are:

  1. Core 2 Duo E4500: Boot without problem.
  2. Core 2 Duo E7400: No display, one long beep (same as the Q8400).
  3. Pentium Dual Core E5800: Boot without problem.

So for the summary, I need help to add support for Q8400 into the motherboard.

I attached the BIOS image from the motherboard using Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit 2.0, screenshot of CPU-Z about the motherboard and the current processor I use.

Thank you.

Asus M5A99FX EVO R2.0 Bios

I've recently updated an Asus P9X79LE with a 6 core I7-4930K @ 3.4 GHz & 64GB DDR3 memory with a TPM 2.0-9665 module which worked without a hitch after enabling it in the BIOS. W11 actually installed without a fuss even though the chip isn't on their list as far as I know.

Now I'm attempting to upgrade an Asus M5A99FX Evo R2.0 with an 8 core AMD-FX8350 @ 4.0 GHz & 32 GB DDR3 memory with the same  TPM 2.0-9665 module. The BIOS has been updated to the M5A99X-EVO-R20-ASUS-2501.CAP file from the Asus website (May 2014) which will show 2 options under Advanced security, one is TPM Support & the other is TPM State. When I attempt to enable both options & save the BIOS settings it only retains the TPM support setting & always sets the TPM state back to disabled upon reboot.

.png   tpm-support.png (Size: 241.76 KB / Downloads: 1)

I have no idea how to troubleshoot this sort of problem other than searching the net where I found people asking the same question without answers. Both Mobos & their BIOS firmware are for DDR3 memory & both are from close to the same manufacture date. However the one I was able to update is Intel & this one giving me trouble is AMD whereas I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my issue.

Is it possible that this is a BIOS firmware issue & does anyone know of a custom BIOS for this mobo to allow that TPM setting to function properly?
Am I out of luck updating this mobo to TPM 2.0 & perhaps have to settle for a TPM 1.2 20-1 module?

Thanks in advance.
