Hi.

I am on win 8.1 64bit, I have been having an issue with my r9 290. It always BSODS on this system, it is fine in other systems. I checked bluescreen viewer and there is always one issue which appears:

Code:
040514-9671-01.dmp    05/04/2014 01:14:32 0xa0000001    00000000`00000005    00000000`00000000    00000000`00000000    00000000`00000000    mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll    mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll+1f942ce    Intel Microcode Update Library    Microsoft® Windows® Operating System    Microsoft Corporation    6.3.9600.16384 (winblue_rtm.130821-1623)    x64    ntoskrnl.exe+14dca0 C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\040514-9671-01.dmp    8    15    9600    279,328    05/04/2014 01:16:14

This looks like my system is trying to update the microcode?

Can someone inject the newest microcode for the i7 2600k into the F10 BIOS here?

Z68XUD7.F10

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product...&dl=1#bios

I believe the newest microcode for my cpu is:

cpu000206a7_plat00000012_ver00000029_date20130612.bin

I have tried this myself, I can add the microcode to the BIOS NCPUCODE.BIN but it doesn't list the CPUID with the new microcode revision at the bottom. See here:

Code:

Goin' Way Back; Help with old Asus L1n64-SLI WS/b to run Shanghai

This is some pretty old hardware, and it was something of a train wreck even when it was released, but sometimes you just get that geek bug into you and you need to work something through.

I have an Asus L1n64-SLI WS/b motherboard. It was AMD's slapped-together quad-core setup from back in 2007 that was server hardware for a consumer market. It's this very absurdity that attracted me to it.

The motherboard is dual socket F, which means that it SHOULD be compatible with all non split-plane Opterons, which is everything up to Shanghai. Istanbul is out, although theoretically, it should be backwards compatible.

Shanghai IS NOT compatible because the AGESA code in the AMI bios is 3.1.7 and not 3.3.0. I've updated the microcode, but without the AGESA, the computer won't post. No help from Asus. They abandoned the mobo after a year. And I'd imagine most of the engineers who worked on this are dead from old age by this point.

The AGESA code is contained within the 1B module of AMI bioses, at least from the time. Was there any progress with extracting and upgrading AGESA from AMI setups? Is there any way to use AMD's open-sourced AGESA code to achieve this? Does anyone have any other ideas that I might be able to investigate?

Swapping license files in an install image

Here's my question:

I used this to activate windows 7 on my Asus laptop using dell media. However, this seemed a bit tedious to be honest.

I also know that the liscense comes from the install media.

So, if I have a .iso of the media, can I edit it and swap the files? Or will that break something?

Sad using WINUPTD gives me 'BIOS image file same as BIOS ROM, no update needed'. Ran both as administrator, neither one resulted in BIOS being updated.

Lenovo S10e - Change VESA MODES (VBIOS)

Hi!

I hope Iam right here... I changed the display of my Lenovo S10e Netbook to a 1366x768 LCD. From the moment the OS is starts all is perfect. But the Bios only supports 800x600 and 640x480 VESA MODES. So, at the start (Bios) and in my Bootloader (Multiboot with Grub) I cant see anything... Just a black screen. I thought maybe I can modificate the BIOS. But I'am not really a pro with that things... So maybe one of you here can do that?

EDIT: BTW... is it the right section??

Hello fellow members, I have bought a Dell Vostro 5470, and it comes with this bios:
http://www.4shared.com/file/JHFQsgtEce/5470A07.html?

I downloaded from the official Dell site and uploaded on 4shared.
It seems that this laptop has some hibernation problems and I would like to disable it in bios.
Unfortunately it isn't avaiable in actual BIOS, so I wished to have it unlocked.

Is it possible to unlock it? Could you guys do it please?
I already thank you for reading Smile
