ASUS M4A79T Deluxe - 1MB BIOS and 2MB IC

Hello,
I've received a motherboard in title that doesn't execute any code - post code 00. Since all voltages are present and everything heats up as intended I think that the BIOS image got corrupted. The problem is that the BIOS versions that Asus published are all 8Mbit and my IC is 16Mbit, W25Q16BV. Every flashed image shows 00 and simple copying and pasting twice all data in HxD didn't work, so I guess there's more to it. Is it possible to make it work or do I need a different IC - 8Mbit? Thank You in advance.

Here is the link to the Asus page with BIOS files.

Hi!

I was trying to unlock by myself but without success...  I've downloaded an update (already tested) from Acer website and unzip it, found the *.fd file (link here), but EzH20 give's me an error...    Oh, and I think my Bios is not RSA Signed, don't really know.

I'm using my bios in legacy so cannot use UEFI dump file method. Editing 'platform.ini' I couldn't find the BackupROM option so I added it myself, the program now suddenly closes but the file in 'C:/' was created, but I can't know if it is ok or not... anyway, I've uploaded it in the above link too.

I just want access to Advanced Options, tried every possible key combinations and nothing worked so I think BIOS mod is my only option now...

I appreciate if someone can help!  Big Grin

P.s: Pictures of the BIOS screens are also in the link.

Good evening everyone,

I have had this small laptop (also known as MechRevo S2 Air, Mechrevo CODE01, Tuxedo Pulse, Slimbook Pro X, Schenker Via 15 Pro…) for quite a while already and I just realized that something must be wrong with the RAM timings or something like that, because I also have another laptop from ASUS with the same R7-4800H CPU where its Vega 7 iGPU performance is over 20% faster or more using the same exact RAM modules easily.

I'd love to squeeze every single bit of performance that this little machine has to offer. So please, I need the help of someone skilled enough to fully unlock the BIOS of this laptop so I can play around with the settings.
I do have a CH341a with a SOIC8 clip and I’m pretty used to it if something goes wrong in the process.

I already did a minor mod and changed the boot splash image, otherwise this BIOS is the one that I’m using right now.

[Request] Fujitsu D3402-B11 Kaby Lake (7th gen) support

$

Hi,
I have a Fujitsu D3402-B11 motherboard and want to use it with an i5-7500 CPU. I chose this hardware combination because I wanted low power consumption for which Fujitsu motherboards are known and also HD 630 iGPU - this is going to be a home server/nas build. I am also using 3200 MHz CL16 RAM - it should work at reduced speed.

According to Fujitsu, D3402-B11 only supports 6th gen Skylake CPUs. However there also exists a seperate variant of this motherboard D3402-B21 - it supports both 6th and 7th gen Kaby Lake CPUs. Here is the datasheet for both models:

Datasheet

I compared pictures of both models and they appear ideantical hardware wise. This document from Fujitsu confirms the only difference is the BIOS:

Fujitsu ECN

So my plan was to swap the B21 BIOS to my B11 motherboard. Because I don't have a Skylake CPU, I wanted to use a CH341A programmer to program the BIOS chip directly. Here are the BIOS files from Fujitsu:

D3402-B11 bios files from Fujitsu website
D3402-B21 bios files from Fujitsu website

My D3402-B11 motherboard uses an mx25l12850f bios chip. I used AsProgrammer software with the CH341A programmer but there was no 50f chip on the supported chip list, so I chose the mx25l12845e. I managed to successfully download the bin file from my bios chip:

BIOS bin downloaded from the chip

BIN file downloaded from the chip is 16384 KB in size and this is also the maximum capacity of the chip. First I tried swapping the microcodes from the B21 bios to my bios file downloaded from the chip and writing it back to the motherboard. I used CoffeeTime 0.99 tool to do this and it didn't work - the motherboard is basically bricked and doeasn't react to the power button. It powers on immediately after turning on power. The 7500 CPU and motherboard power stages get really hot but nothing happens. There is no picture from the iGPU (DVI).

Now after reading more on the forum I know that simply swapping microcodes is not going to work. The ideal plan would be to just flash the B21 bios from Fujitsu website to the B11 motherboard, basically transforming it into a B21 model. However there is a problem. Only useful files Fujitsu provides is a ROM file - 8192 KB in size and a UPD file (DOS folder) - 23561 KB in size. These file sizes are the same for both B11 and B21 models. This makes the ROM file too small and the UPD file too big to fit on the chip.

I think the proper way of doing this would be to use the B21 UPD file - it is identical in structure to the bin file i got from my chip (checked with UEFITool). The difference in size is from the extra Padding added to the B21 UPD. By subtracting this padding the file size would be identical to my chip capacity - 16384 KB. I don't know how to mod this file to fit into my chip.

So what should I do? I have experience in working with electronics but none in bios modding. Can you please help me solve this? Thank you in advance.

Socket 1366 - GA-EX58-UD5 Update BIOS

Hello guys !

I recently learn that it is possible to update BIOS with custom / modded.

I have one old gigabyte mobo socket 1366 (i7 - 1st generation) , GA-EX58-UD5 - socket 1366

I bought one M2 NVME expansion card and i connected to mobo PCIe x2.0 (i think) slot.

The M2 NVME 2 tb (PCIE x3.0) card was recognize by the system but i think it is not possible to work as a boot drive (windows)

Can someone assist me on this ? can i update the BIOS and what are the benefits i will have if i do this ?

I think that my BIOS is legacy not UEFI so maybe it is not possible to have M2 NVME as a boot drive but if i choose to update the

BIOS what are the advantages ?

I have a dual boot Win10/Mac OSX PC I just installed an NVME PCIe adapter and installed Linux on the drive and trying to add the 3rd drive as a boot option in Bios/Opencore. Originally, I had to reset the Bios for the drive to recognize and then installed EndeavourOS (Linux) to the drive and after reboot, the drive has yet to show up as a boot option anymore. I have had issues updating the Bios in the past and the machine is not working after and having to revert back so I am currently running the F7c version.

Current Bios Version: F7c

FastBoot: disabled
Secure Boot: disabled
CSM: Enabled

The drive shows in Disk Utility (Win10) and in the list of NVME drive in the Bios.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the third PCIe attached drive to show up on Opencore? Or is moding the Bios a possibility? This was my first Hackintosh and would be my first time going back into Opencore since building in 2020 and would be my first Bios mod ever. I did a search for these specs and brands and didn't see anything previously posted. If I missed a post that will aid please link me.

Thanks for the help in advance!

[Help] Checksum error when attemtpting bios mods with Phoenix UEFI winflash

Hello guys,

I recently picked up a Dell L321x from a e-waste recycler and powered it on. Immediately seeing that the firmware was the Phoenix Tiano securecore bios, I was pretty sure this device was EFI boot compatible. As it turns out, it is and Dell for some inexplicable reason disabled the EFi boot functionality entirely. My goal is to bring this back.
In the device IFR, I'm pretty sure I know what needs changing. It looks like it disables if a certain permissions GUID shows up. if I change that ID, I should get UEFI boot back. I was about to make this modification using UEFItool, however I got this warning
Code:
reconstructRegion: reconstructed region size 390448h (3736648) is smaller then original 421000h (4329472)
In fact, just rebuilding the provided bios image from Dell resulted in the same error. Any ideas on how to fix? I'm assuming I'd have to edit the header to the size 390448 however I can't find where the header is in Hxd.

By the way, the same issue occurs when using a dump of the installed bios.

Below is the IFR for the SystemSetupMainDXE that i'm trying to edit via Hxd.

Any help would be appreciated!

[Help] [WIP] Modding a Dell l321x to bring efi support

$

What I've found out so far:

- Dell has replaced the standard formset with a custom (limited) one with EFI functionality removed.

- Other Laptops with this No EFI boot issue (Vostro 3450, L702x) do not use these custom forms

- All customized dell bios forms write to a UEFI variable "DellVariable"

- The original formsets that dell replaced still exist but are disabled somehow. These write to two other variables "System" and "Setup"

- GUID 76016....... contains the setup options I want enabled

If someone can help me figure out how to enable the old formsets, let me know. I theorize there is something referring to a GUID of the Dell formsets, however I have not been able to find those pointers.

I attached the image if anyone wants to take a look

I recently bought 5800x3D for my setup and was disappointed that this processor has undervolting and PPT/TDC/EDC setting limits hidden in BIOS.
I was able to successfully use PBO2 Tuner that I found but that is not suitable for me when setting it up on startup with task scheduler.
Long story short, Vanguard from Riot is not happy with me automating this task.  Undecided

So I'm looking for modded BIOS that would make it possible to adjust some settings in PBO with 5800x3D processor.
