Hi there guys! 
I have just upgraded my doughters laptop CPU from old Celeron B820 to a swift 
I5 2450M and the results are really really good!
Laptop is running super smooth compared to the old Celeron cpu and obviously the graphics have greatly improved so she can play her rodblocks or whaterver she plays! Also have installed another 4GB Ram bone in there so its a healthy 8GB system now. 
Not bad at all i must say BUT!!!!!!
Can any of you BIG BRAINS out there advise me if i can go even further with the upgrade? 
What i mean by that is that i know that the most powerful CPU for this socket (Socket G2) Sandy Bridge - is the mighty I7 2960XM BUT it does eat up a lot more power than the I5 and this is a step from 35Watts to 55Watts. 
Now . Do you guys think that it would be possible to run a BIOS MODE to change the frequencies of the MOBO and increase the voltage ? Or the laptop wouldnt even start with I7 installed ? 
What do you guys yhink ?

BIOS ROM question

Hi Folks

I've updated my bios before, using a USB drive with a manufacturs *.exe file.

I got a pretty old motherboard that i'm messing with g82um-pvhd+

I've struggled to find any bios updates, but am aware the bios is American Megatrends INC, AMD AGESA v3.3.2.3

I've found the link below on your site, which show's different ROM files for the updated version of my bios (I think).

I've not used ROM files before and am a little uncertain how to proceed.

TEMP folder doesn't get used...

Hey guys sorry for the probably dumb question. A few years ago, I did a successful mod using Phoenix Bios Editor, but unfortunately I kind of forgot how I did it. Now I'm trying to do it again and I'm stuck on what seems to be the dumbest spot to get stuck... I'm attempting to hex edit some of the files that get extracted tot he TEMP folder by Phoenix Bios Editor, but what's happening is my edits are being over-written when I click the "BUILD" button in Phoenix Bios Editor. I really... strongly... though this was how i did it a few years ago. But it's just not working this time. The file I'm editing is "ROMEXEC0.ROM". Any edits I make to that file, are instantly lost as soon as I click File->Build BIOS. I even tried to mark the file as "read only" to prevent Phoenix Bios Editor from over-writing the changes I made, and that just causes it to fail the build, with a popup error box saying it couldn't write to the file! Ugh. Is there something I'm doing wrong here? I'm using Phoenix Bios Editor Pro version 2.2.1.3

  • Hello,
    I have been following a guide here from Lost_N_BIOS @ win-raid.com on how to unlock the BIOS Lock bit utilizing the "Grub Fix Intel FPT Error 280 or 368 - BIOS Lock Asus/Other Mod BIOS Flash"

    Once I have the USB ready for boot and disable secure boot and UEFI then select launch EFI Shellx64.efi (or Shell.efi)(tried both types) from USB the system hard locks and shuts down.

    It then requires me to switch the power off at the wall in order to boot up again.

    But now I am stuck.



    The only setting I’m looking at modding currently is the one below;

    “High Precision Timer variable”

    please can you make it available in bios as changeable?

    The bios is the Asus x299 tuff mark 2 version# 3501

Hi All,
I need help on this Intel server board ID. I acquired SE7520JR2 model but the bios ID says its SE7520JR22. I need to edit the board ID to be SE7520JR23 to be compatible on my other server. (it has to be paired with the right id to work.) The current board with loaded software is working independently but the other server see it as the wrong board.  Can i do this on AMIBCP or i need to look somewhere else. Thanks

Hello,

I am trying to disable the RAM memory soldered to the motherboard on my Lenovo V110-15ISK laptop.

The latter is defective (with Memtest) and causes random blue pages.

I added a 4gb ram bar but now i need to find a way to disable native ram.Maybe a bios mod is a way ?

Can you help me please?

Hi there,
I've searched all over the forum and couldn't really find anything useful.

I have an Mibook Air 13.3 which has an Insyde UEFI BIOS, however inside Windows using ThrottleStop all Voltage sliders are locked. I want to undervolt it.

I am aware that this notebook MIGHT have write protection, but I do have a SOIC8 and a BIOS programmer.

How can I dump the BIOS in the first place (prefferably without disassembling the notebook)?

It refuses to start, although the chipset supports these processors. Processors tested working!!! A whitelist is also installed on network cards, for example, on AC-7260. Please help if possible!
