LGA771 to 775 mod - Almost there, need BIOS mod?

Hello,

I recently did the LGA771 to 775 mod. Unfortunately, my computer won't boot into Linux mint 17. Instead, I see the BIOS screen (f2 for setup, f11 for boot menu etc), and it starts to load linux mint. It then reboots itself and i'm back at the BIOS screen again.

Turn on ----> BIOS screen ---> Loading linux mint 17 ----> BIOS screen again

I put a windows 7 disc in to see if it would load that. I got a blue screen of death.

I then thought that I had maybe bent one of the pins during the mod. I took the Xeon processor out and put my old Q6600 back in. There don't seem to be any problems, since i'm writing this thread on my computer right now.

When I check the BIOS, the X5460 is registered there. I think i've done the mod correctly, it's a microcode BIOS problem.

This website seems to confirm that I need to edit my BIOS.

I was wondering if someone on here could help me do it. Their tutorial doesn't cover my BIOS brand (which appears to be plain ASRock).

Important info:

Motherboard: ASrock P5B-DE
Processor: Intel Xeon X5460

I have also reset my BIOS by removing the CMOS battery, holding down the power button for about 15 seconds, replacing the CMOS battery and turning the computer on again.

My BIOS version is P5B-DE P1.30

My Microcode Update is 1067A/0.

I'll appreciate any help.
