DELL Inspiron 518 Bios to support x5450 Xeon

**Props to DeathBringer for adding the microcode to the bios**

The Inspiron 518 with bios 1.0.8 has partial support out of the box for X5450.

DeathBringer has injected LGA 771 microcodes to get full support for X5450.

With these bios you will gain the full the full instruction set for the X5450 (VT-X, SSE4.1, CompareExchange128 etc)
If you own an Inspiron 518 and have an X5450, you will not be able to upgrade to Windows 10 without these instructions.

Attached are the modified bios.

Thanks DeathBringer for your time and work.

Instructions to install the bios (Very Important as Win Flash will p00p the bed if you do not pass bios name as a parameter)
1. Unpack all files to c:\bios
2. Run cmd with admin rights.
3. Do in command line: cd c:\bios
Then type in: WinFlash 7C1D1P29.BIN

This should unpack and ask you to update bios.

After installation do a restart and you should be in business!

Before and after pics included along with error if you don't follow the instructions.

BTW CPUZ reads X5450 as E5450 at top but bios and the rest of CPUZ are correct**

Hi All,

I don't know if my PC has a whitelist yet, but assume it does because it is an HP from about 3-4 years ago. Can someone please fix my bios so I can order the card below? I will donate to the person that makes it happen. My computer doesn't have any downloads on the HP site anymore, so I updated the bios off of the internet and will link to my dropbox.

Here is the requested info:

Hi,

I set a BIOS supervisor password few years ago on my laptop and now i cannot remember it.Is there any way to remove the password via flashing etc.
I have already tried:
1-Taking the CMOS battery off
2-Use clear CMOS
3-Hiren's Boot CD

None of them Work because i came to know the password is not stored in CMOS but in something called EEPROM.

I really need your help as i cannot enter the setup to change boot priority etc.

Hi there. I request for an Unlocked BIOS for Samsung NP700Z5A?

Trouble flashing my modified bios for Lenovo Flex2-15

$

I tried to install a Intel 7260 on my Lenovo Flex2-15
I Backup my BIOS with universal bios backup toolkit 2.0 as a BIN file
Extract with PheonixTool
Use a HEX-editor to modified the wifi card serial number and save as Bin
Now I am not sure how to flash it back.
The "WinFlash64" in original BIOS package says "error 233 - only secured capsule is allowed on a secureflash system"
The "Phoenix UEFI Winflash v1.5.66" says not an upgrade.
And I am trying "Phlash16 for DOS", but I am not sure what arguments to use to flash a Bin. /b:modified.bin doesn't work, it says "Invalid flashint.bin"

Hi Bios-mods community, First post.
So I am looking to build a hackintosh out of this X220 but it has the whitelist issue with all the wifi cards I can use with OSX.
Is it possible someone could hack the 1.42 bios to remove this?

Thanks

ASRock 980DE3/U3S3 Fan Mod?

$

My ASRock 980DE3/U3S3 Has 3x 4pin fan headers (im using the cpu fan as 4pin and 2 case fans as 3pin if that matters), but even when i set the bios fan controllers to Level 1 65C, they are very loud, and i cant hear anything over it. i've tried speedfan with Smart Fan IV but its still to loud, even if i manually set every fan to 0% its still loud, but it does control it. is there any way i can BIOS mod to have more control over my fans?

Like an option for lower RPM's in the bios, or even just set the rpm's as a constant.

BIOS is updated to latest 2.00, and is AMI

Lenovo B590 CPU Upgrade [1005M -> i3-2370M]

Hello,
Yesterday I just upgraded the CPU to the i3-2370M since it is faster than the stock CPU. The CPU is little bit older than 1005M and lenovo does not allow these CPU with motherboards. Everything is working smoothly, I'm not getting any overheats. I stressed the CPU with OCCT and some other tools. It works as it should. There is just one issue with it. The laptop power offs suddenly, exactly after 29 minutes 52 seconds after boot. To prevent this, I have to put in sleep my laptop then re-run it every 20-27 minutes so I won't lose my work. This is surely because something in BIOS blocks my CPU. After upgrade I got some more options and BIOS is reading that, but yet still 29 minutes and 52 seconds after "power on" it suddenly goes down. Tested with windows, linux and at BIOS. Could someone provide me fully working and custom BIOS with bypassed CPU check so I won't have to put my laptop in sleep every 20-25 minutes? I would really appreciate~!

Lenovo C560 BIOS corrupted

I have read quite a bit on recovering my BIOS (Insyde BIOS) but having trouble getting a fd file.  If I could get an fd file, then be able to boot into Windows 8.1 - I think) I could update the BIOS from Lenovo

I have an AIO Lenovo C560 - won't boot - black screen - but have power to fan, hard drive. (OutOofWarranty by 6 mos)   I think my BIOS is corrupted.  I have Andy's Phoenix tool, downloaded the BIOS exe file from Lenovo, extracted files using 7-ZIP, but no file in there that is found as a "BIOS" file.

I have a 16 GB flash drive.  One already has 3 DOS files needed to flash from USB.  But it needs a BIOS file...?  I am stuck.  Any help is much appreciated.  I am somewhat techie....but this is new stuff for me.  Thanks!

DFI X48 T2R Bios woes!

Hello
Bit of a lurker here but I have been able to get enough info to be competent in SLIC modding a whole range of bios's, really helpful with the W10 upgrade Cool

I however have not been able to mod this DFI.

The first issue is for slightly lesser known DFI boards there is next to nothing in terms of Bios's hosted on the web, I cannot find a single site with any bios support for this board Angry

So I used a bootable flash drive and the award flash command

"awdflash OLDBIOS.BIN /pn /sy" to save my current bios in order to mod it

My problem is now the awardtool153 I use errors with the file I managed to copy from the bios.

Unless anyone has the bios ready modded I am a bit stuck and I really want to get W10 on this old board.

I have attached the file I got from the save command if anyone can use that.

First time I have come for help so any would be great, thanks!
